From one carpenter to another damn good job. If you are going to leave that exposed to the weather for any length of time you should either cover it or throw a coat of a clear wood preservative on it. Maybe even throw a coat on the bottom ply as well. Looks like you are ready for framing. Im up to date with all the videos, start framing so I can watch them. Thanks for sharing.
Why did you put the plywood short on one side and overhanging the other side? Why not just bring it right out to the edge on one side and cut off the bit of excess on the other?
Can you tell me why you didn't just use the whole pierce of plywood across the width of the trailer? It looks like it would have fitted, almost perfectly. You had it overhang on one end and then you added another bit later on. Is there a reason for this?
The trailer is 8' 2" wide and plywood is only 8ft. So it wouldn't have worked. I could have filled in with a 2" piece but I would have needed the same amount of plywood
Is there a worry that the nails are going to come loose and make gaps in the structure when transporting it? why not screws? edit: and isn't that OSB and not plywood? thanks, great video!
MusFuzZ The nails are actually stronger then screw, because they are injected at high speed, and are sitting in very tight. Screws make the hole bigger on the way in, and have less holding strength, but have the upside of being able to be unscrewed.
MusFuzZ yeah to add what max bar said. screw have less of a shear value. so they'll break easier. The PL glue that i used will hold this house together. If i went back, pulled all the nails, i wouldn't be able to get the plywood off and it will also flex a little and won't crack like a wood glue would. and you are so right it is OSB I've just called it plywood. in future videos ill bad mouth OSB because its a poor quality lumber but for floor sheathing its a good product. 1/2 OSB for walls is crap.
is the front door going to be on the length of the trailer or the width? The answer may give me a better idea i havent looked ahead to see how it turned out haha
