Thank you SOOO much Sam!! I can't wait to show Thomas this episode!! When he finally gets some much deserved time off, I'm sure he will binge all the episodes that he has missed while at boot camp, starting with this one. Thank you for honoring those Marines that are graduating today in addition to all those serving. This made missing his graduation a bit easier, but we are still planning on coming out and eating at Not Not Tacos and Graze!! (I'm the proud mom of Thomas!)
As a father of a Marine that had the privilege of attending Boot Camp Graduation a number of years ago, my heart goes out to the families that could not witness a truly remarkable celebration. I applaud and thank all the new Marines and their families for the sacrifice they all put in to get to this point. Sam, I also wish to say thank you for giving a shout out to the members of the military while filming this episode.. Thank you all.
I’m a paramedic in Canada and I won’t lie I am struggling right now. I won’t get into details, but I am mentally worn down and struggling These videos are incredible and they do incredible things for my mental health and keep me moving forward. Sam, max, thank you. And I’ll see you when I get to San Diego when this over and if I survive 🙏🏻
I live half a mile from the Blue Jays spring training facility. Book that trip. Revamped stadium, sun, and a great little town full of breweries and your fellow Canadians. Thanks for your service, I hope to buy you beer next spring.
Hey man, you keep hanging on. We'll all get through these things and there will be brighter days. Just seem's bad now. Reach out Sam's got an amazing community and we're all here to help keep you trucking on... Plus Tasty food. Make that San Diego and have a great story to tell us all, plus I'm sure He'd enjoy hearing and meeting a fan he helped through rough times with great cooking.
Sam, I'm from a region in Mexico where tiny crispy tacos is a staple street food. You made me proud today and brought back too many memories. You can make them in different combinations such as (refried beans, mashed potato, ground meat, ground meat & potatoe, chorizo & beans, chorizo & potatoe, ect.) and accompany them with a pickled salad composed of cabbage, onion, and sometimes tomatoe wedges, and topped with a hot sauce or a creamy sauce like the one you prepared, and a final touch of shredded/crumbled aged cheese like cotija.
Just a suggestion, but people at your house rarely try your food on video. Everyone should try it at the end and give feedback like a judge panel but obviously they are going to love everything
I got out of the Marine Corps about a year ago and it is really amazing to hear people like you supporting our guys and doing these things for people like Thomas. They need things like this, it helps it really does. So thank you for acknowledging those devil dogs. I seriously would have been so depressed if my family couldn't attend my graduation. It was one of the best days of my life. BTW for 13 weeks Thomas couldn't even say Oorah until he graduated. I'll give you a pass though. Semper Fi cooking guy!
Congratulations to Thomas and all the new Marines who graduated boot camp. I served 10 yrs in the Navy I served half of my enlistment at North Island . Thank you Sam for another awesome video and for showing some live to our service members. "The Sound Of Freedom"
just discovered your channel during this epic world event. I love the channel, but when I saw you honor a newly graduated Marine, I was simply moved. Thanks for being a good American, a patriot, a decent cook and a pretty funny guy. And Thank you young Thomas, For being among America's finest. Thank to all who serve this great nation. God bless us all.
I’m a marine as well 2 hours from San Diego.I’ve watched your show for the last 2 years while I was guarding embassy overseas now I’m finally this close to going to not not tacos and the RONA hit but as soon as it’s past us I’m eating the menu
Going to San Diego for our 50th and Not Not Tacos is only a mile from our hotel. Our golden anniversary dinner. Ssshh, dont tell her. It's going to be a surprise. LOL
I’m a Marine and I’ve been watching your videos for what feels like a month straight! The intro to this video is amazing and thank you for taking the time to dedicate it to him. I absolutely love cooking and since you have a million videos I just sit back and watch and get ideas on what I’d like to try! Again, thanks for honoring the young Marine! Hoorahhh. And yes, you’re allowed to say it!
As every Marine here in your comments would say...you all are exempt from the “rules” about civilians saying ooh rah! 😉😂 In my opinion, civilians identifying with us in the Marine Corps, even in the smallest of ways by using a phrase we use, can only be a good thing for military people and families. We’re regular people like everyone else. Thanks for your support in every video you mention the military. Your respect towards the military is very appreciated. 👍💪
I thought he was referencing Marines, I thought it sounded like oorah. My bad if I misunderstood. The navy guys always said hoo yah. We said ooh rah (Marines). And the Army said “hooah”. There’s a joke that goes with that but I won’t repeat it. LOL Whatever they said, it doesn’t matter. It was funny hearing it. That’s all.
Note to Marines..."OOO Rah" is the traditional Red Army salute. In Russian... "ура!" They say it three times. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zNf6gVb8sUE.html 13:50 (great parade, by the way, celebrates victory in WW2)
Sam is giving thanks and support. Hooah is army battle cry and oorah is marine corps. I am not a veteran but I know many veterans from all branches including coast guard so the salutations go to them
This was Epic!!! The tacos, the measuring (ha ha), and the ending when you honored Thomas and the other graduating Marines plus all our servicemen. Thank you Sam!!!
I really like these videos because it doesn't try and make you use super weird ingredients that the average person doesn't have. I mean this guy used canned refried beans and guerrero tortillas. It's easy stuff to find and makes it feel like something I can actually do!
As an Army Vet of 28 yrs, my new / old passion is cooking. Share as much as you can...we are all grateful for the videos you have put out! Congrats to Thomas! Remember...Food = Life...Great Food = better life! Make your life better!
For documentation purposes. Today is now January 8, 2021 and we are still in lockdown. Everyone be safe, stay healthy and wear a mask. Thank you for your service Thomas!
This landed in Australia and New Zealand on what is called ANZAC day which is our day of remembrance so even though it was unintentional it definitely meant alot to myself. Thank you to everyone around the globe who serves! Past, present and future.
Thank you all at SCG for sharing and spot lighting Thomas and his family!! Love your videos, love your humor and love the interaction between Sam and Max!
2 Things: 1. Sam's neighbors must have the most meticulously manicured lawn, seems like the gardeners are always there. & 2. Sam should go on Masterchef.
@D S I think you are thinking of Hell's Kitchen, check out Master Chef Australia or MC Canada they actually support the contestants and try to make them better cooks. The only time they yell is to let them know how much time is left on the cook.
Ask him.... He's NOT a chef!!! He's just a guy that LOVES to COOK!!! He's just here to make America cook again!!! He's just here to encourage you to try new things!!! He's just here to make OUR day a little more flavorful!!!.............
Thank you Sam , Max and to all the men and woman who serv the U.S. and PLEASE don’t forget all the hard working Doctors , Nurses who’ve been working tirelessly day in , day out . Stay safe everyone .
Made these tiny tacos tonight. I used street taco shells and I have to say they were so fantastic. The richness of the meat and beans. The spices were awesome. My daughter ate 10 of them and enjoyed each one. You are the best. Thank you
As a former Marine who graduated boot camp in San Diego in 2002, I condone Sam saying Oorah to the new Devildog. Semper Fi Marines! And yeah Sam, that cup looks like 7" to me too 🤣
Semper Fi! Thanks for dedicating this episode to a new Marine. I'm a Marine Corps vet and you will always remember your time in boot camp. Thanks to you Sam for another great recipe. I loved JITB tacos when I was stationed in Cali.
Chris Petenes Kroger? You must be from back east. Mexican stores are a thing here in Southern California. Plus, I promise, the Mexican stores have the authentic stuff and they’re amazing.
38 soldiers and a bus. My Dad served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. But they only had a bus. You are the man. Thaks for helping us all thru these troubled times.
Congratulations Thomas!! Thank you for defending me, my loved ones and above all, our beautiful country. God Bless you and my fellow Brothers in Arms. I Salute you. God’s Speed! And THANK YOU Sam for always recognizing the “Sound of Freedom” (as a former USAF Pilot)
Easily the best, most redundant, taco video I’ve ever seen 🤤 Also thank you and congrats to all of the Marines and other service members out there! Thank you for all that you do 🇺🇸
I stood in those Yellow Footprints at MCRD San Diego Feb 2, 1986. What you did today was OUTSTANDING!!! Sam!!!. If it was not for the Marine Corps I would not be a Southwest Airlines Pilot today. Thanks for your acknowledgement to our Marine Corps!!!! I hope to meet you on a San Diego Overnight and thank you in person. Scott Southard.
My brother went to boot camp at Pendelton, graduated in Oct. 1989. The graduation was pretty cool and we got to walk around the base. It is to bad that the family got to miss that whole experience. Congratulations to the son on his graduation.
Proud father of 2 Marines here. Just wanted to see if you'd give a big thanks from us out here to all the man and women serving currently. With this virus, getting home isn't easy and I'd like them to know we're thinking about them. I know the struggle and it's not easy.
38 guys all named Pierre....that was stinking funny! I live in MTL, but I am American and former US Marine...Thank you for honoring the military, I appreciate it and Thomas and those that graduated...AWESOME.
Beautiful show, Sam! Absolutely f'n beautiful! In your dedicating to Thomas & all who are in the military has made me a lifelong fan. The tiny tacos looked amazing as well. I'll give them a try. With regard to thanking military-in-uniform, while working at MSP Airport, I always made it a point to show my appreciation. But, I always kept an eye out for baseball caps as we had WWII, Vietnam & numbers of retired military coming through. I made sure to thank them as well! As always, great show!
9:17 THIS! This is the kind of shit I watch these videos for; I never thought of adding the beans to the meat. This is why watching REAL chefs do their shit, is SO, not only educational, but delicious!
My son graduated from Pendleton in September 2020. We could not go. We didn't get to see him until Christmas. He will be stationed out there in March with his wife. If I go to visit him I will yell hello to you and visit your restaurant if it's open. Love you!!
Hi Sam! Just want to add my thanks for your sincere appreciation of the military and especially to young Thomas & his fellow Marine Corps graduates in this episode! As a female Army vet, it really touches me when folks recognize us & the fact that not everyone can or wants to serve in the military. Keep up the good work in lifting our spirits in these tough times and "Making America Cook Again"! It really does help! 💜💜 My best to you and your family!
I want you to try something Sam, cook some chorizo and cook some re fried beans and I want you to mix the chorizo and beans , best beans you’ll ever try . Trust me Sam trust me
Refried beans in a can? I don't like those and to make quick refried beans, use canned bush pintos, cook in a pan with some bacon grease & salt, mash up and they are waaaaaaay better than Rosarita. Quick & easy.
Sam, you are getting the carpet cleaning bill. My wife, who is literally 152.3 percent Mexican to the point that Mexican soil is literally running through her veins! She thought the reference to "moist" and "wet" humorous. But when you were heating up the mini taco and you said that you knew that the tortilla was done because the gardener had arrived! She was not ready for that and laughed so hard that the wine she was drinking came flying out of her nose! I have never seen anyone laugh so hard. And THEN she almost suffocated herself because she could not breathe when she heard you say the gardeners only come when they smell greatness being cooked! You are now her #1 cooking channel. The other two are fine but you and your crew not only teach cooking, you also throw in a healthy splash of humor! I think my wife wants to have your child. Not quite sure. I will have to ask. Oh, and don't forget the carpet cleaning bill...
Come on, veterans milk their term of service for every penny and every kudo possible. Think of how much better America would be if we admired our TEACHERS as much as we admired our veterans.
Leif Johnson our teachers dont put their lives at risk, and our veterans milk every nickel and dime because they get paid dirt. They get decent benefits, but dont get paid nearly enough for their service
Figured I'd like you know I used to LOVE your show on discovery health and would search for recipes from it for years after. I'm so glad you got on RU-vid because it really highlights your real personality and your recipes are some of my favorite. 99% of the time I love what I cook from your videos (couldn't get behind the mashed potato taco). Thanks for the great content and getting me cooking again
I made the beef /bean mixture a lot when growing up and Sam is right. It's amazing!!!! It's awesome as a dip, tostado spread, or taco filling. Brings back major memories for me.
I you spray a little avocado oil on the tortilla when you pace it on your flat top for a few seconds each side, it will be extremely pliable for your taco to fold.
Congratulations Thomas! You should feel great pride today in your accomplishments and your future! I know I couldn't do what a marine does. Sam should've called em tiny Thomas tacos!
"I'm from Canada. We do have a military up there, 'bout 38 guys. They're lovely, they eat poutine and then..." I was laughing so hard I didn't catch the end of that! Thanks for making quarantine so much better, Sam!
Sam, thank you to the shout out to the new Marine, Thomas. It has been almost 19 years since I marched across the Parade Deck at MCRD SD and can’t imagine what it would be like without family and friends there. Incredibly difficult to all.
SEMPER FIDELIS, Frank, I also graduated from MCRD San Diego back in '80. I served for 19 years. Retired as a GySgt.. So to you and ALL the Marines out there, where ever you are. SEMPER FI and Happy Birthday!!! HOOORAHHH!!!! Gunny Reed
