This is a technique for when your head feels like it's going to explode or your brain shuts down from having too much going on at once - helpful for stress, anxiety, ADD, OCD etc.

I’m ACTUALLY crying while typing this😭 I have been panicking for the past 10 minutes, I have autism, and have recently been diagnosed, have NO ways to calm my self down when overstimulated. This actually helped me and I will be using it on a daily basis. thank you so so so so so so SO much😭😭😭😭😭

Heyy bud , you should do meditations 😊
@stellamariss3335

Something I’ve done since I was a kid and always helps is to close my eyes and focus on my toes while imagining either my body in third person or just a black void. I can create sensations in my toes by focusing on them and then I make myself slowly and deliberately focus on tracing each of my body parts and noticing each sensation. Until I reach my head and sometimes I can make my head feel like it’s vibrating and then after completing it I open my eyes and come back to reality. Idk why this works so well for me when all other meditations are extremely hard for me having adhd. I struggle to imagine myself in places when I’m overstimulated and you are often told to that for mediations. But this method allows me to somehow escape the surrounding environment and be in a headspace focusing on only my body. It works best when lying down

I also recommend rubbing your arm softly, and doing what she did, but on your head as well. Works for me. :)

I can definitely see how this could help. I was somewhat diagnosed with ADD/ADHD so I tend to get overly stimulated a lot. It’s hard to detach from the world when it feels like everything relies on an internet connection these days. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

There’s a huge rainstorm where I am right now, and it’s really loud at my window. I’m leaving for a camp tomorrow where I know I’ll be really homesick, and there’s just so much right now. This helped so much. The rain isn’t as bad, I’m not homesick, and I’m not a crying mess. Thank you

I’m at work right now, I had to turn off the music because it felt too much, I had to turn off a couple of unneeded extra lights that are on because they are too much, it’s getting to the point where my own breathing is becoming too much, there’s no one at work here that I’m close to. In fact, this is a one person job, so I’m here alone, and when I think that I’m starting to feel better, a customer comes in, and I am immediately set back to where I was, and I have to calm myself down all over again. Which that is getting too much, this is my seventh time doing it in a row. Now I have time to watch this video, thank you.

Holy sh*t, I always did this when I got overstimulated, but nothing ever helped so I felt like I was just sitting in a well where I’m trapped. But you explaining it and keeping it in mind when I’m doing it absolutely made the biggest difference. Almost as if I just woke up from a nap. Thank you so much for making this video, this actually works for me. Something that actually works! I am trying so hard not to cry thank you so much for making this video

It all gets overwhelming and I end up lashing out at people and cry afterwards and apologies and then I'm completely spent like I used up every drop of energy in just a moment and it takes me hours to recover. I can't think through my thoughts. This was a really great technique to try out. I wish I had a quiet place to do it though. Even my fish tank over stimulates me.

I binged the first season of stranger things for the first time and all of the information made me internally freak out. I suspect that I have ADD but I don’t have enough money for a diagnosis. I also am an empath- and for me I subconsciously absorb and analyze emotions from people in shows or movies that I’m heavily invested in- and I forgot to take breaks between episodes and now I’m laying on an unmade bed with a heating pad to my forehead to relieve me of a headache. I tried this and you were right; it sounds like a waterfall or a shower. I will keep this in mind if I get overwhelmed again. And I’ll try my best to take breaks in between hour-long episodes
@waterwolf982
@waterwolf982 2 года назад
What I’m saying is that it really calmed me down and helped me forget about external stimuli for a few seconds. I did so many things today compared to what I’m used to- I woke up earlier- I witnessed a “couple” arguing in front of a gym- I undressed my bed and washed almost everything- I watched ≈8 hours of emotional film- I had a terrible nightmare yesterday- everyday I keep thinking about my soon-to-be birthday cake that I’ll make (I like baking) in a month- and now I’m trying to collect myself because the ball of yarn I call a brain tangled- and I have to thread it into an irregular ball again
