Tip Tuesday: Presentations With A Red Dot Sight with Jared Reston 

Jared Reston demonstrates how to present with a red dot sight transitioning from iron sights.
There is different nuance when it comes to presentations when transitioning from iron sights to a red dot sight. A problem we may run into is when we see a crisp red dot sight, we tend to become hyper-focused on accuracy and not timing or when to break our shots. We want to get away from that and get in the habit of finding a good balance of accuracy and speed. The perfect shot too late is not a perfect shot at all.
Our presentation is working from compressed ready, focusing on the speed of where our hands are bringing the gun to our line of sight with the red dot on the target. Our arms should have that nice natural bend in them so we can manage the recoil and settle back for follow-up shots. We must find that groove and cadence of watching the dot drop in from the 12 o’clock position in our sight as we maintain target focus. Watching the dot plant itself on the target with every shot instead of driving out and running into the barriers.
Once we find where a good mesh point is, we can then go from our holster. Work on the transition of going fast to the gun, then fast to where our hands merge and getting a good sight picture with the dot planting itself on the center of the target. With repetition and consistency, we will develop faster presentation results with a good mix of accuracy and timing.
