This video is for anyone having a hard time getting your tension set for your Tippmann Boss. If you bought it used or if you have tinkered to a point that you can’t correct it maybe this video will help. I was very frustrated with my machine and was starting to regret my purchase but now I’m sewing on this thing with ease because of a few small adjustments. I hope I’m able to help!

I have run my Tippman since 2005 and it is a good machine. It has its moments but you learn them just like any machine. Fixes that work for my machine. For example if I use a 207 thread on top, I use a 138 thread in the bobbin. Top tensions, make a mark on them so you can see if they back off, the back one on mine will slowly loosen but I check it regularly. Make sure your lower assembly is timed right, the book explains this. If off just a bit, it can cause issues. I use panty hose to cover the top thread as it keeps it nice and neat. With this, a friend who also has one and her issue turned out to be the wire loop that you feed from the upper thread was twisted just enough to catch the thread and causing too much resistance. Make sure bobbin spins counter clockwise. Go up a needle size if needed. Check your handle gear feed timing and make sure it comes up to top as needed as this helps pull threads correctly.

Excellent Tippman should give you compensation for this video. I wish this was available when I had mine.

This is the only video about this that I have found. I'll know what to do if I run into and happy that you took the time to put this up. Wouldn't mind seeing more videos from you.

Thanks ! I got so disgusted with mine I started using it to just layout holes in thick material for hand stitching . Waste of money !

I did what you did there, still had issues with the top tension, I ended up putting lock nuts on the top adjustment nuts, mine were backing loose as I was stitching. Problem solved. Thanks for your vid. No one explains the bottom tension adjustment.

after adjustment, the thread at the bottom was overtightened. you can see the loops at the top of the seam. did you manage to set up the machine ideally or were there incessant problems with it? Are you still using this machine or have you bought a new one? Спасибо за видео

I put some lock nuts on the top tension adjustments, sewing caused the nuts to loosen and mess up my stitching

excellent video...i bought this Boss used....as you mentioned the bottom thread ..i screwed it in all the way to get more tension...wrong i guess!!!...to get it to sew right top tension is so tight i actually tip machine forward when pulling on thread..lol...so my question ...you mentioned top thread screws 2.5 turns as per factory settings... 2.5 turns starting from where..? also as i take the Bobbin holder i noticed theres a spacer missing thats sits in behind the bobbin...how important is that spacer? thanks

The first tensioner the thread wraps around is two full turns. The second tensioner is one-and-a-half turns. From when the nut first touches the spring.

I need some help and cant reach tippmann. I just bought a brand new tippmann boss and anytime I try to use it on a practice piece, the bottom looks like a birdsnest. I’m afraid to try it with a customer piece and feel like I just got screwed.
