VW rear screens are very difficult to shrink and many tinters have problems. Using SolarGard HP Supreme 22 Window Film. Dry shrinking with powder.
Second half of vid is Reverse Roll for Rear Screen Auto -- Very interesting and not many people can do properly. Squeegeeing VW Rear Screen.

This is by far the best explanation on how to install window tint. Thank you for your post my good sir.

Thank you for taking the time to film and share this info. I got frustrated trying to do my compound curved rear Oval window of a '56 VW bug. This makes it look so much easier to do, w/heat gun and pre stretching/fitting, then "reverse back rolling" from the inside. Again, well done and Thanks!

Nice install, however I disagree with the suggestion that using peal boards will create excessive contaimation . I use them all the time and never have a problem. The main reason for using them( for me ) is to not do any cutting on the car itself. Other than that this is a fantastic way of shrinking and installing this back window ! Well done guys !

hi, when you cut the film directly on the glass... will you scratch the glass??

There are two types of metal used in tint knife blades and scrapers, carbon steel and stainless steel. Carbon steel is most commonly used in scrapers where you are scraping / sliding over the glass versus holding the blade perpendicular to the glass and cutting. Stainless steel is softer than carbon steel so SS is used by most for any direct on glass cutting. Note however if you push hard enough even with a SS blade it is possible to leave a cut line in the glass so the tip is to use a sharp fresh blade with minimal pressure needed to cut the film. The blades used in Olfa knives which are the most common cutting knives are segmented to snap off so after say 10 to 15 cuts you should snap off the end of the blade to expose a new segment maintaining a sharp edge. Some glass can even be softer than others so some tinters place a 1cm x 1cm piece of thin plastic under the film where they want to cut then position the knife blade so the tip is into the plastic through the film. Then as they drag the knife along they are sliding the plastic with it meaning the blade itself does not touch the glass. This technique is only really suitable for rear screens where there is clear area around where you are cutting. You can’t use this technique for cutting the edges on house windows for example as the plastic would space your cut line too far off the window rubber leaving a large gap. Most tinters though have no problems by just keeping a sharp blade and watching their pressure cutting on the glass. I hope this helps
