I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing the CNA test last month she passed and I failed 😣, I asked her how she did it , just found out she got her help from Mrs Brenda..

I understand how nerve-racking that can be. It would help to ensure that you know how to do the basics of all the skills you've learned. Watch RU-vid videos to help refresh your memory if needed and practice on your family. I had to resort to that until I got the chance to work with patients, and it really helped. Do you know how long the orientation at your facility will be? It would be great if it were at least 5 days long. It would help to communicate with whoever is in charge that you have no hands-on patient experience so they can pair you with a patient and well-skilled CNA. Orientation is the time to advocate for yourself. You'll learn all you need to learn in due time 💕

Congratulations! 🥳 They definitely don't expect you to know everything. Most of what you'll know as a CNA will be learned on the job. It is important for them to take you through orientation and allow you to shadow seasoned CNAs. As long as you know the basics, you'll be okay. Just ask a lot of questions, and don't be afraid to ask for help.

I'm sorry you felt the other patient got more care than you did. I hope you are doing much better. Total care means the patient is dependent on others to help them eat, get dressed, and for elimination. So assessments would need to be done on admission to determine that

Lool you're right about that! I'm glad you've made it this far. Being a CNA can be very rewarding, so keep going , and don't forget to put yourself first. I actually left my job at the nursing home some time ago because the environment was toxic and I got too busy with school. But I'll try to come up with content for another CNA video 😊

@@Influenceher_ I am still a CNA, but I don't do bedside work anymore. It was too much to juggle with these nursing classes. I didn't think anyone would want to watch a video about why I left, but I'll work on recording one. I'll also mention why some people are leaving the job/the field altogether.

The most important thing you said was, "My first day as a cna." Just know that you're not alone. When I first started, a resident fell while I was transferring them to the toilet. Since then, I've made it a point of my duty to ask for help. Try to do the same as well. Cover your butt and protect your license. Don't be afraid to ask for help 💕 Give yourself a little grace. Also, I'm happy to hear that the resident didn't get hurt.

You’re not alone at all, I just started 4 days ago and I’m so shy and nervous I think I’m doing a shitty job, I feel like I don’t know where things are I feel like I’m pestering the other staff bc they have to keep pointing me in a direction they see but I don’t lol. I don’t know what to do at first, I can hardly understand the residents my trainer said I did fine but idk

I'm super shy and always nervous as well, but what helped me was the fact masks are required. It makes me feel bold and fearless! Lol On a more serious note..Time management is key and also getting to know your residents so you can prioritize who to care for first. Get a report from the nurse so you can know which pt is a 1-person or 2-person assist, etc..offer to help the CNAs who have worked there longer than you have and ask them for tips..that way, you'll more than likely have someone to help you out with your residents as well. Cut yourself some slack because 3 months from now, you’re gonna be so much better at what you do 🥰. You guys can do it 💪🏽..I hope this week was better 💙

I understand why that would make you anxious. I was super anxious when I first started as well! It might help to watch a few videos to brush up on any skills you might have and ensure that you have all your equipment ready for your first day. Having a pen and a small notebook to take notes will also be helpful. Don't be afraid to be assertive and ask questions! I assume that you'll be paired with someone experienced before getting your own patients, so try not to worry too much. The environment might be fast-paced, but you'll get used to it. You got this! 👍😊

How are you doing at your new job? I start mine soon and barely have any experience either so I'm nervous

@@Atm0111 I’m doing great! It was definitely a little difficult and tiring at first without any experience, but I got used to it after awhile. My coworkers have been very helpful from the start so don’t be afraid to ask questions and for help about anything!

Is there a specific reason you don't wanna deal with them? If you got hired at a nursing home or some place similar, chances are you'll need to handle a few diapers. I would try to find a job in an assisted-living facility. The residents there are very independent, so chances are, you won't have to deal with diapers much or anything at all. Working at a school/clinic is also an option. You'll mostly be taking vital signs. Hope you'll find a job that you enjoy 💕

What scares you about it?

I'm so sorry 😟. Here are a few tips: - raise the head of the bed when lifting a patient into a sitting position if this isn't contraindicated - wear comfy shoes - try to keep your head up and shoulders in line with your spine with lifting - squat when lifting and keep your feet a part - bend and lift with your knees, and keep the patient close to you - Use a drawsheet to reposition the patient in bed - and most importantly, ASK FOR HELP Hope these help 💕

I had that same issue when I just started. It gets better after a while.. just ensure you're taking care of yourself.

If you work in retail, you are expected to stand more than 8 hours a day. On Black Fridays, you will be standing 12 hours. Running back and forth, lifting, climbing etc. you will get used to it.

Ohhh :( I was really nervous for mine as well. I watched videos from "4YourCNA" on RU-vid and recorded myself practicing the skill to see what I did wrong. All I can say is practice, practice, practice, know when and how to wash your hands and when to provide privacy. Also, if you make a mistake, correct it verbally so the instructor knows that you know what you did wrong and how to correct it. All the best 🤗
