Tips for breeding chahoua geckos

Today I'm giving you some tips on Breeding Chahoua Geckos. Chahoua geckos are not like any other new Caledonian species as they require a lot more protein, calcium and vitamins or else you will be putting your animals at risk of MBD.

NinjaCat69 no it’s not recommended as they are more prone to fighting best thing would be to do is keep them as a pair

Very bad idea for pretty much any reptile species unless you are in the process of breeding them. At the bare minimum you will have 2 animals that are stressed TF out and at the very worst possibly a dead gecko.

+pckelkins no. That would throw off the diets completeness. Having an individual cup for calcium allows them to self regulate without messing with the balance of the diet.

They are so rare/hard to buy, I guess harder to breed makes sense. I have 2 Crested Geckos & 1 Gargoyle gecko. I even had a hard time finding a Garg for a reasonable price. I wouldn't mind owning a chewie, but I wont spend too much for a reptile.

I agree. I don't want to pay more for a small animal than I would for a dog.

@@-8_8- Not exactly a fair comparison when you are comparing a species with 129 currently for sale on Morph Market with dogs that are bred in HUGE numbers across America. Also a well kept Gecko can outlive a dog. There is no getting around supply & demand.

@@brakesforsnakes757 not to mention the yearly upkeep for a dog is probably more than for an expensive lizard, cause you have to factor in the annual vet visit and vaccinations, flea/tick preventative, etc. for dogs, and cats too. reptiles don't generally need to see a vet unless something is wrong.
