In this video, we'll cover some of my best tips for moving abroad, the things which you need to think about first. You can think of this as almost a moving abroad checklist and some of the basic tips for living abroad. When moving overseas, there's a lot to consider that unfortunately can be quite easy to overlook when planning how to move abroad / how to move overseas. Yes moving to another country can be quite fun and there is the "dolce vita" but what about the rest of the details that make up your daily life? Before moving to Italy to become an expat in Italy, I did a lot of research, but sometimes there are only things you can only learn with "boots on the ground".

great advice , I would say being in a good shape physically , is something that personally help me a lot , because it gives you flexibility to work on any job much more easily , also it allow you to be on good health which means less risk to use the helthcare system that depending on the country you are going can be very expensive

My top 5 tips for MOVING to ITALY This is my first year in italy not a great start and might get ruind by this corona situetion( have patiens with my spelling, sono svedese) 1: Learning italian is crazy fun, but they talk in difrent way/ways! Im from sweden and for me everything is backwards. I have studied in Rome, the Italian languige for a year now and i start to reach a B1( light talking/non adnvance). I find grammar dosent help me that much, its what we are studying in school, but its when im talking to people i learn more italian! Italians are CRAZY friendly and talking is there favorit DRUG. 2: Italiand love to talk and talk with strangers, maby not every one but so far i have meet new poeple every day, and i have made friends everywhere in the country, Rome, Napoli, Pescara, Umbria, Turin and Milano! My nighbers is even calling me FAMILY! 3: Sweden is crazy expansive and thats kindy why i want to leave! I found that italy is alot cheaper even the more expansive places, never compere yourself with someone els! look up and compere with what your used to, now when im trying to move to a new city the cost is less than a 3rd here in ROME. 4: JOBS! more dificult thing here and as a mechanic i have found out with time i need to move to a more modern city than rome becuse life here is more turist than REAL jobs! im not a chef, guide or a bartender, what most people here is. 5: FOOD!!! LOVE ITaLIAN food! but now when i eat it every day in a italian family i have found out that my stomach does NOT handle it that well. When the doctor told me i need to calm down on italian food my heart broke a litle bit, "eat more your normal food" potatos n fish! Gli italiani sono pazzi ma adoro tutti loro!

I moved from Ecuador to Peru. Even though we are neighbour countries, the countries are quite different. For me the hardest part was making new friends, cause back in your country you have your “support system” (Family, friends, etc).

Good video. For sure I will rent for at least a year or forever. I’m tired of owning a home. Surprise expenses....work.... I’m retired so no worry about work but need to stay in an affordable area. I know affordable is different for everyone. In Italy you had mentioned getting a one year lease is not common. I don’t want to commit to 4-5 years. I also will be bringing my elderly mother. Another challenge. I will be getting my JS hopefully this year. I would have been there already, years ago, but life happens... for now I’m exploring various areas of Italy to learn where I’ll try first. I’m learning italian. Don’t want to be in an expat community. Seen them in Mexico. Not for me. Hoping to make the move in a year, two max. Thanks for your insights.

Wonderful reality check. And most of these things are why I want to travel abroad, but am not sure moving is what would work for me.

Hey Great video. I’m from Saudi Arabia and I have been in the US before for five years and if one day I need to move or live abroad, the US would be my country of choice for sure.

Great video, I for one only lived in Mexico for a year in a small town the only thing I ever did for work was either sell Tacos de adobada or help butcher cows. The pay was pretty low but I was able to buy a couple of beers eat out with cousins once a month. Lol I’m dead shout out to Tapatío!!!! This will be the year I’m going to Spain, gonna see what it’s like and from there I’ll make up my mind.

Having lived in Italy for over 8 years and reading ex-pat websites and listening to expats whining, I would advise anyone moving abroad to go enjoying the differences in life abroad, not constantly judging by how like it is to your home country.

That's what happens when one got a rounder face than most people. I have an exact same problem took me nearly 5 optometrists to find the right frame.

Hi Rafael, I enjoyed your video but need to point out that when you say you should rent in a place for two years before you decide on whether its a good fit would be hard to do if rental leases are typically 3 and 5 or 4 and 4 year terms. I think you would have to take the plunge longer term.
@RafaelDiFuria
@RafaelDiFuria 4 года назад
I wouln't fully disagree, but it's 3+2 not 3+5 and even with a rental contract that's longer term you usually have 6 months that you can give notice at any point. but it depends on the contract. it's something you may even be able to negotiate, I know people with 3 months notice in their contract. It's normal to have a way of exiting the contract legally.

Hey amico, I'm a musician who composes and performs original rock. Any insight into what the climate might be like, especially in Rome, for a gigging musician? Also, can you give an indication of what styles/genres of music are popular in a general way? Thanks! Grazie mille!
@RafaelDiFuria
@RafaelDiFuria 4 года назад
My honest unfiltered opinion as a former musician is that it's a completely unreliable way to make a living anywhere, especially in a country with a lot of talented musicians who already don't make enough as it is... I got out of music becuase of these reasons. I love it, but it takes a lot of extra hustling. I also wouldn't be the right person to ask about generes because I have some odd tastes in music that are far from popular haha but no matter what if you have a dream pushing forward is the only way to make it come true :) I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's not easy in this country to begin with, as a musician it may be playing the game on hard mode
