@@jasminlachler450she said to throw out the magnifying glass or simply put, stop looking at your face so closely in the mirror because no one is looking at you that closely. That tiny bump u might see on your cheek? It's there but it's not as noticeable to others like it may be noticeable to you. It will only get worse when you scratched it and it starts bleeding and leaving a scar. That's when it actually becomes noticeable to others.
It's also imperative that you get enough sleep, drink lots of water, don't smoke, don't do drugs, many of which can have negative effects on your skin.
Honestly, I've been just smoking weed and doing some recreational drugs and I look waaay younger than people I went to highschool with. My tip is NO ALCOHOL, zero. I haven't drank since I was 20 since I am allergic anyway. Weed is fine!
1. Double cleansing 2. Chemical exfoliant, no scrubbing 3. Target issue 4. Adapt to climate 5. Retinoid under eyes 6. Extend to neck and chest 7. SUNSCREEN 8. Throw out magnifying mirror
@@MichelleRothman9 I think she assumes everyone wears makeup and/or water-resistant sunscreen A normal cleanser should be fine if no makeup and you don't see the sun (labmuffin has a detailed video on whether wearing sunscreen indoors is required or not; in summary it depends on the amount of sun exposure)
NEVER! I repeat NEVER look into your magnifying mirror lol. I remember looking into one when I was a plump juicy 20 year old worrying about my "fine lines" lmao....
I honestly needed to hear this! I was looking into one yesterday because we were on vacation and then I looked into the regular mirror and thought how my skin had been looking so much better in the regular mirror and then I just continued to nit pick my skin when I looked back at the magnifying mirror ! (for reference I'm 18)
The last one really got me. I always looked at my face so close i wonder why did i have the skin that i have. Large pores, acne scars, discoloration etc. Nobody is looking at your face THAT CLOSE !! Thankyou for bringing me back to my senses
Some people have atopic skin/allergic skin/rosacea/eczema etc., that just can't handle being messed with much. If you know you have sensitive skin, only start one thing at a time, and stop it if you experience problems.
Exactly. I would love to have an elaborate skin care routine and try new products but it's a lot of trial and error to realise what works and what doesn't
This was one of your better shorts because it didn’t cut off in the middle of what you were trying to say! It’s rather frustrating that you don’t get to finish most of your shorts
That's literally my skincare and I'm still in my 20s! You know, Dr. Shereene, during the height of the pandemic (lockdown and all that) your videos saved my skin. Went from an acne that grew a face to finally an actual healthy glowing face. More power to you!
Ugh so jealous lol during lockdown Iiiii got hung up on binging about the death of kurt Cobain (yeah that dude was totally murdered btw..).. was still in my 20s & wish I had found Dr. Idriss ! She was the only person who could get me to use sunscreen 😂
@@terenarosa4790 I've got huge windows in my bedroom and I really like the natural light when I'm working (I'm wfh). Also it makes it so convenient when I have to go out of the house (for errands or whatever) and I know to myself that I've got SPF (and around what time I'm next reapplying). And perhaps the top reason why it doesn't hurt my wallet for me is cos my SPF only costs less than 4 USD and it's locally made!
@@terenarosa4790i use sunscreen daily, mine is super affordable. it’s $9 from trader joe’s and my entire family loves it. it’s a dupe for the expensive supergoop unseen sunscreen
You’ve got glorious skin. When you get to be my age (in my 60s), you will look younger than your years. I wish I took better care of my skin, not just my face but also my body.
@@user-ks3qr5fk6mexactly. As they say you can’t polish a turd 😂💩 Gotta address the root issues… also alcohol is a big one that many don’t want to acknowledge
@@_sunchilddshe doesn't look like she has any fillers but she may and if she has botox it's mainly on her forehead (the only thing botox does is paralyze the muscles so they don't move as much or at all and that is what reduces the wrinkles so if you see someone who makes facial expressions and their skin doesn't wrinkle up or crease they have botox you can really tell on the forehead), regardless, skincare is still a huge help for your skin. I'm 26 and I have a tailored skincare routine for my face and my face looks way better than it did when I was younger.
Needed to hear the #8 tips. I always judge my own skin (all because I can see my almost faded freckles up close) when everyone is literally praising my skin for being acne free, no redness and all
Im only listening to your advice!!!!!!! Because your skin is so smooth and shiny. Maybe good genes but no filters, expertise and you showed us how the skin care helped you.❤❤❤❤❤
Farmacy honeymoon glow is an amazing night serum. Good genes by Sunday Riley is also awesome and gentle enough to wear everyday, they’re both not cheap but they’re absolutely incredible. There’s also 2 acid “toners” from youth to the people that is also great
I also find not using filters for photos/videos and being used to how real skin looks, gives yourself a reality check that your skin doesn’t need to look like glass. And makes it normal for other people to see it more online too. It’s like people forget we see each other in person too, and we can see it all. And it’s more than okay.
Been using skincare from face to neck, chest, and underarm consistently. I am happy that the routine boosts my confidence so much. Retinol is a must every night 😃
Paula's Choice-SKIN PERFECTING 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant & 2% BHA Liquid Facial Exfoliates Paula's Choice CLINICAL 1% Retinol Treatment Cream with Peptides, Vitamin C & Licorice Extract Paula's Choice BOOST C15 Super Booster, 15% Vitamin C with Vitamin E & Ferulic Acid, I actually love that brand and had seen a reverse in skin appearance. BTW, I also recommend collagen vitamins with glutathione, For the collagen vitamin, if on a no pork diet get one that is fish based only, since even the beef extract or chicken extract versions have traces of pork. If vegan stick with glutathione with strong potent Vitamin C of over 1000mg with the rosehip extract included. I hope these help you. 😎👍 the collagen I recommend if you suffer from depression or grief as even with the most powerful vitamin c and glutathione your body will still seem to suffer and break down, so collagen is a life saver for those going through the stages of grieving. I notice huge changes in mood and skin, and I normally am a vegetarian/pescetarian, but seafood collagen kicks it more. Best wishes to all.
@@AvecPoesieany physical or mental stress alters the skin, duh. There's some pretty complicated science behind it, but just know that your mental state affects your physical body and vice versa.
Realizing that time is relative and not focusing on aging a year with every year that passes has helped me a hell of alot. The human concept of time can be mentally draining and stressful to our mental health. So let that $*** go and just be, do you and let go of that hour glass/clock mindset and enjoy this life, your here! And use good skincare lol ♡
@@Rosemary46840stop being salty. It’s truly lame. She doesn’t look in her 20s obviously, but she looks like a 33 yo with an obvious amount of good placed filler and botox, but the actual guilt goes to the filters. Maybe irl she looks older or her real age, but def not here.
I'm a Esthetician and I'm just so happy and grateful for you. I'm so glad that you're sharing your knowledge and your wisdom with everybody. I feel like I have good backup thank you❤❤❤
You are 3 years younger than me. I struggle with melasma as well and just general hyperpigmentation because of my damn hormones being for a lack of a better word, out of whack!!! Damn it!!! Being a woman is so dang hard!!!😢
I suffered from Melasma and pigmentation. Would love to try your fade systems skincare, it’s annoying that we can’t get your product ship to Australia. Our government are probably too strict with some ingredients.
Appreciate your videos/info! I'm a 39 y/o who is lost in the skincare dept. Just had my first hydrofacial and now obsessed with taking care of my skin better!! ❤
I’m in my 30s and see all the flaws in my skin but I constantly get compliments from others on my skin and looking like I’m in my 20s. Thank god my mom yelled at me for years to keep up my skin care routine lol anyways, no one is a worse critic of our flaws than ourselves, throw out the magnifying mirror and don’t worry so much. No one worries about how you look, we are all too worried about our own skin 😂😂😂
What do you mean by no one cares about how you look! You’ve negative the first half of your comment, and it’s inherently untrue, since the beginning of time. People care about appearances.
Well women don't turn into mold when they're in their 30s/40s, they're still beautiful. Also she's a dermatologist and uses special treatments like light therapy, etc.

@@xXLadySunXxI use this one too! The one with the white top and dark gray bottle? I love it. I got the 'travel' or 'sample ' bottle, it's tiny, many months ago and I still have some left. Might need to reorder soon tho.
Can you please do a video for what 12-15 year old should do for there skincare and what they should buy and not what should buy? (Especially sensitive face)
You should have a good cleanser to avoid acne, a gel moisturizer if you have dry skin and a good sunscreen. You should not use anything else on your skin this young.
….don’t forget the back of your hands, as well 😌 and SO TRUE about that magnifying mirror - just don’t do it! For years, I was convinced I had the worst acne-prone skin, but turns out it was just me, picking and squeezing. As soon as Ieft my face alone, my skin completely cleared up 😕
Same it actually does clear up when you get older and you don't mess with it but if you want it to be effective start your anti aging skin care routine in your mid 20s after it starts clearing up. Witch hazel and stridex pads are pretty good for getting rid of red bumps but go easy on it and apply it to the areas were it's needed. By the time your 38/39 some people will call you sweetie and they might mistaken you for a college girl. Having clear healthy looking skin is not rocket science and you have to tackle it early before it starts drying out.
I remember to put sunscreen on back of my hands, no problem, but I wash my hands so often. How does that work. I feel silly for doing it when I know it'll wash off. Do you just carry it around and keep reapplying?
I'm almost 40 and just started doing skincare last month. I usually only do double cleanser daily (no sunscreen, gasp!). Now, I try to incorporate some routine for day (serum, moisturizer, sunscreen 50 spf pa ++++) & night (gentle retinol set). Hopefully it will help preserve my youthful look under the harsh tropical climate.
Some of us aren't lucky enough to have good eyesight.... I need a magnifying mirror without my glasses as otherwise my nose has to touch the mirror for me to see in it. I also have super sensitive skin and eczema so anything chemically will make me blister. I'll stick to my basic wash and moisturize routine thanks 😂
Co2 Lazers and newer ones, micro needling and chemical peels. I had shingles 11’s in my face. It looks like I had acne when I was younger and I didn’t. I can’t even place makeup on and go anymore. I went into several, 10 consultations, @ Massachusetts General Hospital, to Regular Dermatologist’s to skin care places. They’re coming out with so much. Putting your own plasma in your face, etc.. The best thing I ever did was stay out of the sun and literal until dark. Year round and it cleared up. The minute I hit the outside in daylight it came right out. Use a bronzer, not a foundation. They make it come out more. The bronzer blends it. Then a tad of blush and touch up any spots you see. Literally works. I’m too old 😂, to be spending 10,000 plus for these treatments.
I know physical exfoliation isn’t for everyone but I use the Cetaphil gentle scrub and it works soooo well. It has super small particles that I can’t even feel.
Careful careful, cetaphil contains paraben. I used to use it and got to stop since I knew it contained paraben (so sad I had to waste my gentle skin cleanser and moisturizer)
@@raerohan4241it is if it irritates your skin and everyone's skin works differently Cetaphil is okay but it's not the best sometimes the expensive cleansers are garbage but if you go into a make up shop sometimes you can find those tea tree oil masks that you put on your face and just wash it off you can feel it tingling so you know that it's working I got it for like 3.99. If it's a unique product like that and it's hard to find sometimes I'm more likely to get it or if it's a really expensive product that comes in a kit with serems and facial cleansers. Other than that the popular brands like Neutrogena, or Cetaphil kind of suck for the price of it. Expensive is not always better for you if you don't research the product before you buy it.
I seriously wish there was a more comfortable way to wash the neck and chest. I genuinely hate washing them over the sink.. So messy even when I try not to. Thank you though! Turned 28 this year and knowing it should be simple makes me feel better. Appreciates ya ❤
There’s no way I rub all these chemicals into my skin daily. I use my exfoliants and moisturizers twice a week after a bath. Even if I didn’t look 15 years younger my age at 45, I’d still not bother. By the way I don’t use any sunscreen unless on the beach for UV filters prevent oxygen circulation your derma
@@hughjazz64 The reason she HAS to wear sunscreen all year and weather is because of the melasma. To keep it in check sunscreen helps for it to not flare up.
She is a derm she has access to every single new technology: filler Botox lasers PRP and other new stuff that normal people don't even know about skincare can only do much .
Genetics yes but when it comes to normal people but she is a derm and constantly injecting stuff to her face in addition to lasers and Led light therapy again that's why I don't trust those deems on RU-vid to give an adequate anti aging routine only based on skin care products
Can you make a video like this but for people in their 50s? My mom has recently started a proper skincare routine, and it would really help to know what is actually essential. ❤
that lady's forehead isn't moving and looks plastic like those Korean ladies. everyone has wrinkles especially non melanated skin, after 25yrs old you have to work magic.
I love a good physical exfoliant and I don’t ever wear sunscreen. I’m black and in England and I have a hard enough time getting enough vitamin D as it is. I’m definitely considering using it in summer when the sun is somewhat consistent…
Thank you for posting this. I turned 35 last month and I will admit my skincare routine has gone out the window, mostly because I just moved LOL. I have many amazing products but unfortunately also have ADHD and to have a hard time sticking to a routine. I think I'm going to print this and stick it in my bathroom
And don't forget the treatment from the inside which, you have to eat all your fruit and vegetables and drink water, balance healthy diet will make your skin and hair even better along side the outside treatment.
Don't throw out the magnifying mirror because your eyesight doesn't improve with age and doing your skincare or makeup with glasses on doesn't work, eyeliner for example is an exercise in muscle memory for me if I don't have access to my magnifying mirror. (Just don't use it to get close up jump scares of pores etc)
Thank you Can’t wait to see one for ppl in their 40s. I’m also very interested in a video about thinning eyebrows. Does latisse really work? What are the side effects?
