Maybe 8- 12inch high raised beds, will help keep the tarps down, and wood chips for your walkways will also add some weight to the tarps. Or just cover the whole area in wood chips and put your compost to make the vegie rows. I have no idea what sort of garden layout your thinking of, But i hope it goes well for you..
Because it’s a silage tarp, not landscaping fabric, putting mulch or compost on would just mean having to remove all that later when you’re ready to plant.
Thanks for great tips. Yes...totally agreed with adding organic material on top to build up to make decomposable soil & then lay down tarp on top as the last thing..anchor it down with rocks on top. I think with about a foot of layers of stuff will help with burying those rocks. Thanks everyone..U R AWESOME 😃 🙂
Looks great! What about rocks? We have lots and lots of huge, medium and small sizes of rocks everywhere on our 60 acres...seems like an UNLIMITED supply or rocks. Would that work?...well, that's what we plan to use. Also, we have lots of very stubborn wild berries bush growing in the area we want to garden...about 100' by 100'...so we mowed down what we can but the base stem is strong and poking out about 2 to 3". We use Stihl trimmer trim it down but since we have so much rocks, we don't want to try to trim to flush in with soil level because the rocks will ruin the blade. We plan to get tractor box blade push the rest of the stem down then put some old hay over it to cover the soil and also help cushion the stems from poking the tarp. Hope it will work but if not,...oh well, will be an expensive experiment for us to try. We plan to cover it for about till fall...right now it's March. Thanks.
