Hey guys! So this is going to be my last military spouse-related video for a while, I promise! I will get back to my regular fashion and lifestyle content soon, but honestly undertaking our first PCS from Virginia to California has taken up the majority of my time and energy for the last month or so. Here are some tips and things you should consider when planning and executing your military move/PCS, I hope it helps you out! Girl my husband and I are in the exact same boat! We're moving in 2 weeks from NY to TN and a 2 bedroom apt to a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath and your tips are really helpful!

What did you put your kitty in to travel? About to PCS for the first time across the country with two cats. Any advice is appreciated! :)

Great question! We have a roomy cat carrier and we originally planned to keep him in the carrier at all times for his and our safety. I then felt bad that he was in there for hours at a time so at a stop I set up a blanket for him in the front seat (not what a vet would recommend but I love him and I felt so bad) and I left the door to the carrier open. Interestingly enough, he was more than content to stay in the carrier with the door open and he literally slept for hours at a time and adapted really quickly after the first day. I am not sure if that is luck that he is a chill cat or what but we were grateful he was such a quiet passenger. The one thing I will say for sure is to set up some kind of routine as quickly as possible, cats love a routine when their world is getting flipped upside down. Cats can go like 48 hours without a water or bathroom break and he refused to drink water or go to the bathroom until we stopped for the night. It made me worried a bit that he chose to do that but again they can go 48 hours without those functions. As for food, we kept his feeding schedule the same which meant as some stops I was feeding him. I am sure it is unique to each cat but you will figure out after day 1 what will work for you and your fur babies!

How do we find out houses we can get on base?

Every base has housing offices that you get in contact with ahead of your move! They will let you know which ones are available for you. Just research the base name and "housing office" and that should be a good place for you to start.
