There are things that you can do as the parent of an only child to help raise a well-rounded human. Here are just a few tips we came across in our research.

I’m extremely lonely and I have awful social skills Just be ready for your kid to be the target for bullying

Make sure you are asking them how they are feeling all the time and give them space to find the words…as an adult only child who is learning a lot about myself as an only child.

why two is not a family? I am divorced father of one child and two of us are family as well. Or actually we don't need no labels or names for what we are. We are just awesome!

Some people have five kids and none or usually one child steps up and takes care of the parents. Also some siblings hate each other. We are overpopulated anyways.

also there are people who have 3 kids or more share one room.. in my opinion 2 kids can share a room.. but 3 or more is unfair.

My mom had 8 siblings. None helped her to take care of my grandparents, just me and her did,I helped her cus she was all alone in this even having so many siblings, all said the same: we are busy, we can't. They also fought and keep fighting for properties of my grandparents. Unfortunately this is not an unique case, it's the most likely to happen, siblings usually end up legally fighting for the properties and after the parents are gone, so is their relationship

I'm only 23 years old, very fertile and have been happily married for 4 years but I don't want to have more children. We have a three year old. I worry that I'm not doing what is best for her but I have to think about myself too.

as coming from being an only child i understand that of course u need to think about yourself too but being an only child is lonely. and in life u sometimes need those siblings fights and arguments. you need someone there to relate to and to bond with. and they probably won’t tell you everything when they get older because that’s what teenagers do. but then they will keep things inside and become very distant from there true self. and sometimes you just want to be loved by someone else other than your parents. but i understand that you also need to think of yourself

I loved being a only child but the only hard part was loosing my whole family before 30 so it's been really hard going through life alone. As long as there's a sense of family or friends only children are fine.

Izzy Breakiron your parents didn’t raise you right if that’s how you feel. I have a sister, and it was constant fighting until we were in our 20s. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side

I have been wondering as to how to respond to this video in a meaningfully way, the best i can do is this: its gut-wrenching heart breaking to NEVER be able to go through certain stages with a young child again; it damn well hurts... the flip side of having an only child it this: I LOVE YOU THE BEST OF ALL!!!! You NEVER have to choose between ANYTHING, you just give 100% OF YOUR to your child, like Robert Munch :The Best of All"! (every day, NO exceptions), Get it????

It's gut wrenching and heart aching to never have to get up multiple times a night? Or change diapers? Or deal with the screaming and biting? Really?

@@harringt100 I do realize that not everyone wants to go through all those things. I am a big believer in I don’t tell anyone how to sail their ship as I have not mastered the art of sailing my own!! I also realize that I have a unique opinion on this matter. I know it’s different then what most people think because I often get criticized both from people who think that large family size if the only way and those that never want any at all! I was simply offering an alternative, one that has been the way I am sailing my own ship.

0:38 i could really feel her as been a father to beautiful daughter. Superb video. I would have loved to have 2 kids but due to some medical complications we have decided to have our daughter as our only child. As its a saying 3 is a family ❤

Having one child shouldn't cause people to question themselves over it. Who wants bickering among siblings when a single child doesn't have to deal with that? The only thing that maybe something that they are missing out, is the ability to have a sibling to be close to after the parents are gone. Most sibling relationships stop after the parents die because of how the parents divide out the inheritance among them. I feel my child when I have one, will be able to figure out the inheritance trail on their own because his or her dad and I will talk extensively about it before our demise with our child, giving them valuable input.

I’m an only child. It’s been hard I have been incredibly lonely I HATED being an only That Susan lady is wrong I definitely couldn’t bear to have just one child

What is the doctor wrong about? Everything she said is true, based off research. Anecdotally things may be different but that’s true for every situation, even with people with siblings.

This sounds like your parents didn't make enough of an effort to surround you with other kids as a child. Kids do need to play with other children, but they don't need to be related to them. I am an only but had lots of cousins friends to play with. Also if you are lonely now, there still lots of ways to connect with people and build friendships as an adult (there are more people on the planet now than ever before), I think I was lucky that my parents were very sociable taught me this skill early on

It worries me a lot when we are home and I see the clear loneliness in my only child from the absence of other children to play with. Occasionally she looks across next door for other kids to relate to. Given a choice, I encourage parents who can, to have at least a second child as soon as is reasonable after the first.

You can ALWAYS ALWAYS tell an only child. But do you if you want one have one who cares, if you want three have three who cares as long as your happy and can provide then do you

@@violetm9045I am a parent to an only also. was just wondering, there is a lot of videos on RU-vid about only children only come to find out it was just a cool video to make not an actual lifestyle choice. I guess I’m becoming a dinosaur.

@@kb6069 I’ve found it’s hard to find videos based on a lifestyle choice (in regards to only children) on RU-vid, mostly because the comments on those videos are extremely volatile

👉👪👍Is better to have only one child only want children in full family are want more generous attentive sociable friendly and modest. I do love a lot their friends and their copper my dream is to get married with the only child from full family.
