Not sure how to get a failed print off your resin 3D Printer FEP sheet without damaging it? Here's how I do it, simple and easy 😀

If you've got a stuck piece of resin.... Make sure the entire fep is covered with a thin layer of resin. Put something like a popsicle stick in the resin, sticking up out of it. Cure the resin with a UV light. Lift the popsicle stick gently and the entire layer of resin should peel off, taking any stuck things with it.

@@ZacHigginsyou can also use the detention to do the curing for you. You won't even need to empty the tank

Thanks for the tip ,Zac ! In the past I drained as much resin as possible. Then I inverted the vat over a plastic flat container that was larger than the vat and gave the FEP a sharp rap with my knuckle (like tapping a drum head) and the stuck parts just popped right off. I always pre-treat my FEP with a PTFE lubricant before starting a print, btw. Give it a try !

Great technique for popping it off! I've tried the PTFE lube, but it didn't seem to help really. Got about the same amount of prints stuck to the FEP as I did not using it. Might be the way I do things though being a noob 😀

@@ZacHiggins No, you're correct. Resin will always seem to stick no matter what you add, but the PTFE re-conditions the FEP. It was born to die ( exposure by exposure ) but we can make it last a bit longer if we recondition it with PFTE. Totally not needed but the FEP will age a bit faster if we don't. Enjoy !

I heard alcohol can degrade the fep? I've just attempted my first print and have ended up with about 600/870 layers-woth of time of a print baked onto the fep. I'll try what the other commenter said about doing a full-surface cure to try and peel it all off together.

Use a microfibre cloth between your finger and Fep.

If I'm using water washable resin, would water work as a substitute for the alcohol?

It does work, but it takes a lot more scrubbing to actually get it clean compared to alcohol. Also, keep in mind that you cannot dispose of the water down your drain since the resin is toxic. That is something that is overlooked sometimes
