Thank you man, I wanted to do stuff in Fusion but it was always slow and arduous. I was only getting like 2 frames out of a project but, the tips helped bump it up a little. It's still not great playback, It doesn't even hit 20 frames though, I'd rather have 6 frames than 2. Keep up the tutorials I really enjoy them.

I still don't have this issue solved, but I would couple things that might help. It helped a bit to me. 1) Under the Preferences > System > Configuration turn on the "Always run Fusion on CPU" 2) Turn off the motion blur it really makes mess. 3) what wasn't clear to me from the video. When you pre-render through Cache To Disk a node. Then you have to have that node loaded in the viewer when playing it back. If if there is a different node in the viewer it won't load that pre-render. 4) It really helps the disable the viewer you are not currently using. Lets say you are previewing Merge node in viewer 2, than turn off / gray out viewer 1. Saved me like 5-7 fps It still not solved. And the whole performance and playback thing seems bit buggy, but these steps helped quite a lot. Hope it helps you as well.

Am I the only one who notices no change in proxy quality when changing the sliders ratio? Edit: Seems like the slider stopped getting used as of 17 and now the fusion proxy toggle just refers to your half/quarter res you have selected under the "playback" option at the top. Very confusing

Could you share your system specs? I was following your fusion tutorial for a custom slideshow and i noticed that your PC renders things at a MUCH better rate than my machine. In the comments here below you mentioned that you have 64gb of RAM which is what I also have... so made me curious to the rest of your specs

There are a few videos recently where the specs are listed, sorry I cant remember the actual link. Theres also a hardware specific video he did while details his specs. In short though, the specs are nothing special but the efficient use of the software is great.

I don't get fusion inside of Resolve 15 with rendering itself. It's like its not doing anything. Pc is not working and it never goes green or smooth playback inside of Fusion in Resolve 15 for me for some reason. Any tips for fusion to actually start rendering? :/

If you enable proxy and auto proxy in fusion, will the output if you render (deliver) still be the same quality? Or does it use the proxies?

Does the proxy setting (like 10:1) in the fusin settings page work? The resolution doesn't reduce even with it enabled. I am using Resolve 15 Stable. Thanks.

Got one question. Can it be possible that hdd bottlenecks timeline playback? I've got GTX 1060 6gb graphic card, ryzen 5 2600, and 16 gb of 3200mhz RAM, and still somehow When i have placed a tracked word in fusion, that follows me, i can't get it to play smoothly in the timeline. It's 50fps, it's cached, also 6gb of ram are placed into the "fusion effects cache" and it's often losing some frames (e.g playing 47,40 which causes stuttering). Got no more ideas except for maybe putting the ssd, but I'm confused whether that would even help.

Hi Jay! If I use optimized media within Davinci Resolve (15) do I still need to use proxy in the Fusion tab for the footage or only for the effects? Your tutorials are great, thank you! Regards, Fred
@wojdapawel

Using optimized media doesn't help much with effects rendering so turning proxy on should help.

Good as ever and you are right normally beta code will always run slower than final production code because it often contains extra debugging/checking tools. One question though, in the world of 3D animation, "network rendering" is a way of speeding up production where you can use multiple PCs to work together, does Resolve have this potential do you know ?
@sinuous1
@sinuous1 6 лет назад
John Haynes yes it does if you're using the studio versions. The studio versions of Resolve and Fusion also allows multiple gpu's. I use 4 gpu's in my rig, and it helps.

I did all this on a fusion build from your "Assemble Text Effect" video plus setting Playback at half, but I'm still getting 15fps on a 2019 iMac. It starts out as 24fps (project frame rate), but then drops to 15 or so after a second. Is this just because of a lack of RAM? It's the only other element in the suggestions you made

Hi! I started following your channel cause I am about to upgrade from davinci 14 lite to 15 lite. And you seem to be providing really helpful tutorials. In my last editing project was a food recipe time lapse, where I had to speed up 1080p 24FPS footage (h264) to 6 to 10 times! Doing so, the timeline performance was really really unpleasant. What should I do to improve it? Should I transcode to an intermediate codec for editing or use proxy? My hardware is average (six core ryzen 1600, and rx 560 gpu, 8 gb ram, 120 gb ssd for os and apps, 1 tb hdd for media). Please advice. Thanks in advance.
@JayAreTV
@JayAreTV 6 лет назад
Any time you speed up footage you are going to see a bit of performance loss. If I was editing a time lapse like that I would use the optimized media tool within DaVinci Resolve. It's a bit different than the render cache. It just like using a proxy without needing to setup file linking and so on. Your pc build seems fine more most editing. If I was to make a upgrade it would be GPU first since that's probably your biggest bottleneck.
@AtiqulBariChowdhury

JayAreTV Thanks so much. I will try optimised media. I know the gpu is a bit underpowered, but thanks to cryptominers, that was the only one I could fit in my budget. Maybe I can get a better gpu a year later, but first I need more storage and another 8gb ram.

Hi Jay! Thanks a bunch for your tutorials and everything! You and your videos rocks! I have hit an issue with the "Cache to disk" function that you are talking about. And I just don't know what to do about it. Would you be cool to help me out? Pretty please? :) When I don't cache anything my playback is around 2fps. When I pre-render through Cache To Disk my playback is between 13fps to 20fps. But still not real-time play back. I worked with 1920x1080 files and I am working on machine with 64GB of memory. Also I am pre-rendering to an internal SSD drive. That should be fast enough, no? Idk what is the issue. :(( Another thing is, that when I play-back after the Pre-Render, the Cache Percentage and MB info keeps rising (info at lower right corner)? Is that normal? And when I purge the cache I loose the pre-render. I mean the icon that its pre-rendered stays there, but the green line over timeline is gone. I understood it that it pre-renders to disk so the cache is free? :-/ Dammit... its a quite bit of text again. sorry about that... Anyway if you would find some time to answer this I would be super grateful. Thanks in advance and greetings from Prague. All the best Krystof

@saadshah7857

@@krystofkalina3882 one possible solution is that you have not told Resolve how much Ram to use. If you have 64gb of memory, that is more than enough. Go to preferences and there will be a slider for Ram. Crank it up. Then Resolve will access more Ram and not be restricted. Once you play through a sequence in Fusion, the timeline will show a green line to show that the sequence is rendered in Ram.

Hello ... sorry for the trouble, I wanted to ask you a question: I own an Imac 21.5 with 5k monitor and dedicated video card (AMD radeon pro 555) without ssd but with traditional HD of 1tb. I've been using davinci beta for a while without any problem, BUT when I open fusion to try to replicate some of your basic tutorials, I want everything in Crash both Fusion and the clips that I export from finished fusion and go to the timeline. Do you have any advice on the best settings to avoid all this ??? I have also looked at some of your setting tutorials trying them but nothing, it always crashes when I open Fusion ... Thanks and sorry again

have tried all your tips, but fusion is UNUSABLE Slow. Crashing the machine around 90% of the time. Goddang, why implement such a Beta-Like Feature when its hardly working? Trying to cheese the system and simply render out 2 seconds with a few particles in takes now 6 hours 6HOURS!!!!... i have worked with particle systems before in standart 3D Applications, this is ridiculosly stupid in comparison and an embarassment for this great software. They should have not put it in there, its useless. FIX THIS BLACKMAGIC!
