I‘ve been using roll20 since the start of the pandemic, but I still haven‘t figured out a way to make an already gridded map align perfectly with the built in grid of the virtual tabletop. It‘s always off my a small margin no matter how much I try to align it. Thank you for giving instructions on how to align yours. I wish all maps I find onlind came with such instructions.
Yeah ...this method is kinda reliant on the artist making sure that the border of the map is the right size. If everyone did that it would be so much simpler for us all :)
Thank you for this tutorial! This is the first time I got to align a digital map with the grid - never got it working before, because I did not know the correct option. Please make more roll20 tutorials in the future. And your puzzle handouts rock! Us dms can use many more of them, if you're willing and able to craft more :)
Well, the map needs to be drawn correctly (i.e. with the right size border) in the first place - so it will work for most of my maps, but not for some of the random maps/scans that you might find online :(
@@CrookedStaffTerrain I can tell you, since I've begun utilizing the same feature on other random maps from the internet, a little tinkering with ms paint to crop the map borders before uploading them into roll20 usually does the trick and works to align the grid 98% to 100% accurately. Which is loads better than I ever got it to work before. So again, thank you for educating me.
