Here are three good tips & tricks for short riders like me no matter what bike you ride. Please drop a comment below if you have any other tips for us short folks lol. #dualsport #crf300l #wr250r #klx300r
Thanks for your videos. I mount and dismount my CRF300L while standing on the left foot peg. I did install a kickstand extension which helped tremendously by keeping the motorcycle from leaning so far over while on the kickstand. I’m now completely use to this method and it reduces the leg muscle strain and exhaustion I use to feel on a long day of riding from getting on and off. Thanks
I mount the bike like a horse. Foot in the stirrup (left peg) and over, side stand down. Get off the same. I have a 34" inseam but the huge 30 litre bag behind me is why I still need to do this, so I don't kick it full force.
Try to mount like a bicycle, Stand on left side, start engine, put in 1 gear, put left foot on peg, ease out clutch while standing on left peg and swinging right leg over to peg in one easy fluid motion. I’m 61 short and ride a Beta 300 and other bikes and this works great.
Love your vid, you got me laughing when you said, “none of this homo shit”. Your tips are much appreciated. I’m a 5 ft. 6 inch female with 32 in inseam (none of this flirty shit, ha ha), and have pretty well figured it out. I also bought some Dr. Martins Audrick boots which have a platform sole. They are unisex boots, so men or women buy them, and I can now flatfoot my Suzuki v-strom 650. I also cut the seat down by 1” and had the bike lowered 1/2”. The combination makes me feel much more sure-footed when coming to a stop.
I’m 5’6” with a 28” inseam. The stock bike, even with that soft suspension, is too tall for me. I’ve got a low seat and a lowering link, but I’ve found that using them together makes me feel like I’m riding a freakin chopper. So I use the stock seat with the Kouba link, and it works for me. Also, I’m a SIG fanboy, so-nice 938, and new subscriber!
Yes height has a bit to do with it in regards to how some might fit on taller bikes as taller people might have longer legs but not always. Your overall proportions are what matters here, I'm a little over 5' 9'' so about the same height as the guy in this vid but I have longer legs with a 33.3 inseam and I can flat foot the CRF300L without any issues.
My buddy showed me to mount and dismount to the right side while standing on the peg. Put your weight into the left hand grip and that’ll keep the bike from moving to the right too much. I haven’t struggled since. Well, besides trying to get a foot down on the trail.
Everyone keeps say use the pegs. This bike leans way too far over for me to use pegs. Even on level ground hard top. Or maybe I’m just too too heavy lol
I’m 6’ and the rally is challenging at times, wearing timberland hikers I often get my shoe lace hung on the pegs that hold the seat and top of the back fender on. Good video, wasn’t about to give a thumbs up, haha.
Lol thanks brother. Them laces can be dangerous as well as jeans. A few past spills I always tuck my pant leg in into my boot and no laces. I could imagine getting it caught on the peg up top lol I bet that was a site to see
@@BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding I guess a center stand is not available for the 300 is it? I haven't looked. I'm right at 6'0 and I have a little trouble getting on and off mine. I just installed a rack and a box on the back of mine this evening. I haven't even gotten on it yet. 😂😂
I dropped my bike on the low side of the road 3 times in one day because I had baggy, low riding cargo pants on. I went home and changed into some hiking pants and had no problem. I'm 5'8" and the klx has a 35" seat height, I may put a lowering link on it and a thinner seat concept seat
I know its not preferred, but I just climb on using the pegs to step up on and over. Full gear and 5'6 99.9% of the time. Until its 🔥 as ⚾️🏀🏈's in Florida...then its just boots and britches 😎..... and gloves. I so wanted a WR250, except I'm like a toddler on Santa's lap. I did the lowering links and Corbin lowering seat on a KLR650 back in the day. Did not like the low rider feel. Excellent trouser 👖 information 👌
Lol I’m almost there with ya! I had a lowered KLR650 a few years back. Awesome road bike but off-road sucked bad, developed a bug in the carb and could never get it to run right again very curious how the new FI models run!
It sucks being short. I am 5 ft 5 with a 25 inch inseam. I managed to safely ride a 01 Yamaha r6 with no suspension mods. I had an 97 Honda CBR900rr and I had no choice but to install a lowering link on that bike the seat was too tall and too wide. Not the best handling due to moding the suspension but I made it work. Dirtbikes my last dirtbike was a 2001 Honda cr125 , I usually leaned it up against the house or a tree. to take off. to dismount I usually layed over to the right no problem. It was a trail bike for me. I never raced it. In all honesty my favorite bike ever was an 2004 ktm 85 sx, fun bike not to tall and manageable power. I no longer ride due to injury in an auto accident back in 2007. I still miss riding.
5'9" isnt short idk why people say that when its average height! Im 5'9" and I dont feel like its too tall I throw my leg over just like on my cbr haha I think the issue some people have is hip flexibility
We can’t defeat the physics…. On the trail we are going down if we can’t reach to put a foot down no matter how many tricks we learn or how much experience we have.
The problem is the bike design, not your height, legs, or pants. Those Japanese engineers with bow legs for sure cant even ride that machine.. send them to jail
If you see me I’m always strapped regardless of where I am just how I am in my own yard never know about snakes critters and neighborhood dogs. Done had a few dogs not so friendly it’s not just protection of people my friend
For most of us that carry it's like a seatbelt, better to have it and not need it than not have it and need it. Or like a fire extinguisher. If you don't like guns good for you, but most of us in the good ole USA do.
@@BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding When my pants go on in the morning, my wallet goes in my back pocket, my swiss knife in front, and my Glock on my side. Wear it everyday just like you. Even in my house. 😉
