Thanks for watching! I'm always livestreaming the terraforming of this island over on Twitch @ www.twitch.tv/ryanftw, so if you'd like to see my method of using The Path in real-time or have any other questions, stop by sometime and say hi!
@Logia dude Considering how many New Leaf players used pattern paths and other pattern displays in their towns... they should have seen it coming. At least in New Leaf, each resident had their own pattern slots. I had a second character for patterns and storage. Was originally my turnip mule, but I didn't need any more money. I also used ables to hold patterns on the displays. Looked horrible, but I needed the space. I was considering making another character shortly before I stopped playing.
The path is one of those things that it takes practice to use, but once you get it, its actually fun to put together and you can be creative and fun with it .. and the nice thing about the path variations is, when fall is over, all you have to do is choose another style and save over the other ones to the exact pieces and your path will change style without having to redo it all over ... I love the path and I love all the styles!
Or you can do what I did by actually sitting there, agonizingly coloring block by block to make my own homemade path🙃 Now when seasons change I can just adjust color using the color palette or color select and adjust the shade. (Also I'm too poor to subscribe to nintendo online)
@@chamodhimanodhya7224 psst, did you do your 7 day trial? And admittedly, it's not that expensive. It's also more fun when you can go trade and possibly hang with other players. Visiting dreams is also nice. I ran over my trial and accidently paid for a month. Was gonna cancel the auto pay and buy the 3 month. But considering how much I'm using it right now and how little cost it was, I don't care. Will get the 3 month next time. And on a side note, I made my own path in NL. Couldn't be bothered this time. I suck at pixel art. The best I did back then was bricks.
@@lexii712 The ones Nintendo added. This path shown in the video is badly pixelated. My OCD doesn't do well with it. Also, there is really bad screen taring with it.
One of the few things I love more about New Horizons than New Leaf is the fact that I don't constantly kick up my paths by accident. I'm afraid that if I use the custom paths, I'll be right back to accidently kicking up paths again.
I was neck deep and totally invested in my terraforming and then suddenly Tom Nook told me I could only have 8 inclines. Could that info have been communicated earlier?! Totally took the wind out of my sails. Millions of bells and so much time wasted. Now my island is half terraformed and super weird and it’s staying like that. I’m so over it.
Omg that happened to me. I had my museum all decked out and I used two ramps on each side and had a sitting and viewing area, it was beautiful. Then i was told there was a limit so I had to tear them down because they weren't as necessary as some other spots. I was so sad. I like my museum area now, but I LOVED my old one 😢
What really helps me is laying it down straight (the “incorrect” way) first, and then just replacing some spots with more interesting curves here and there. Hope this helps someone else too! 🥰
That actually did look easier when he had the path made already straight, and then he kicked away the spots and added. lol I will have to watch again. I think these paths look so hard, yet so easy when someone else is showing it.
Maybe a hint to replace the path with another Design would be nice. I mean, that you dont have to lay down the path again of you only want to use an other Design. But beside that... I just enjoy your Videos and live streams so much. Thumbs up :)
Ahh you're right! Completely forgot about that! Definitely helps once the seasons change and you need to change your path to match. EVERYONE LOOK AT THIS COMMENT IT'S IMPORTANT
@@ryanftw_ Yeah, I love how there are very few things in the game that can use custom designs that don't change when you change the design itself! (that was a bit of a mouthful)
I used “the path” on a majority of my island and these tips will help me make jt look a whole lot nicer! Rn it’s a little to straight. Thank you for the tips! :)
I've watched you on stream revamping your island and placing the path down, but I still couldn't master your technique. You just explaining the order on how the path gets put down in this video is a game changer for me! Ryan, you are so smart! Thanks for this video!
I’m not sure if this is just me but there’s 1 reason I really hate custom paths, it’s the sound, the regular paths all have different sounds when you walk on them but all of the custom paths just sound like walking on a vinyl floor, they may look nice but as soon as I start playing and walk on a custom path It ruins the effect cos you instantly realise it’s not dirt or stone or whatever the path is
Honestly I stopped trying to use The Path because of the annoyance of using the island designer app so this was super helpful...might have to try again also- super impressed with the progress on your island!! The last time I really checked in you had flattened everything and just started using the path so it's amazing how much you've done
This was so helpful, thank you!! I was trying to use a version of "The Path" and it was NOT looking good lol. This video came out at the perfect time 👍
Thank you for making this video!! I've watched speed-builds with The Path and I love the look of it but when I get to my own island, I can't figure it out! This is really helpful.
Something I’ve found that helps me is to lay out a scatter of the center tile in the general direction I want to go. I don’t necessarily put down every tile nor are they connected, but it gives me a direction to go. Then I’ll put down the corner parts down, giving the windy effect. Sometimes the center tile gets over-written if it direct fit, but having a bit of a sketch to work from really helps.
Very helpful. Thank you. If I had not seen this I would have just made a boring straight path. Not I feel more confident in making this kind of path which looks so much better.
@@moonlighttiger5278 im pretty sure you can put them down above of the other paths, so if you put them under the place where you’ll put the middle tile they might follow it. Ofcourse it also depends on where you place what part of the path
I am in the process of flattening my island and finally decided to try out The Path but was feeling so overwhelmed...then I remembered you posted this and it helped so much! Thanks, Ryan!!
This was the most helpful video I’ve come across .. I usually don’t bother with custom paths because I’m horrible at them but the second you suggested to use more end pieces I tried it and my pathing looks 1000 times better thank you so much !!!
Its actually really easy. If you just replace each peace of the path in your design app with the equivalent piece of you new path it will automatically swap.
i know this vid is old but i think me not comprehending how to lay down any path just proves how stupid of a being i am lmao. great vid though…Hopefully it helps me if i try again.
Thanks so much!! I have a weird OCD in which my brain seeks patterns and rythum < (never seen that word written) and it doesnt let me mix it up but Ill def try harder coz your stuff looks nice!! HOWEVER, none of those codes work for me. All my codes start with MO, how do I get MA? someone plz help me. Im new to AC all together and tbh I JUST found out i can buy clothes in fitting room coz all i ever did was buy whats on display and so much more things i never knew. Thanks and keep being awesome! AC needs to give us more design slots tbh...or am I just being a bit whiny? Anyway, have a good day everyone! You all rock! ^_^ Oh, speaking of rocks, one more question...you know how you can eat fruit and use shovel to dig up whole trees? well is there a way to get the stones and move them? I wanna put all my resource stones in one spot so i have more room for my stuff.
I've only had the game 10 days so I don't know what on earth is going on and my only option of making paths atm is the make paths my moving trees to the side lol
I thought this video was very informative and loved the tips. But at the same time I feel like the way paths look whether it be a straight line or not is up to the personal preference. Anyways, great vid tho!
I had it for a while and hated every time you would pick an object up, it would erase part of the path. Got to be so annoying. Plus, it doesn't show up on the map. So I erased it all and used the in game paths instead.
everyone that uses the path should watch this video. I’ve seen a lot of island with unnatural and straight laid paths 😬 not organic at all, sometimes not complete with cut off paths
Anyone know where to find more of the seasonal variations of the path that he mentions in the first tip? I haven’t been able to find any aside from the ones he used and one other from the same creator as the mushroom path.
i have a couple of design codes i use that are worn patches or single-block-wide paths to vary it a bit - that way if the path is too wide i can put a patch in the middle to break it up like that, or if the spot i want it to go is only one block wide rather than two, i have one that'll fit
I'm not sure if anyone's pointed this out, but is there any difference in laying out a custom design through the custom design or island designer app? It's pretty obvious the custom design app is much quicker. But would laying out the path through the island designer make the path a more "permanent" path where its harder for you to kick it away? Not sure if that make sense lol
You made me change all of my paths because I love the feel of your island so much, it was a challenge but I love it so much . Can you please tell me what the FTW in your name stands for 👍🏻
Omg thank you for showing how to just place the path down rather than using the design app! I never thought to do that and I wish I'd known about it a month ago. Best tip ever! Thank you!
I really like the idea of using different parts of paths to make your 'base 9'. Does anyone know of any other path codes besides the two listed that have the same palette as the original? I keep looking up paths recommended which look great, but they don't have the same main palette at the original and thus looks very weird.
you could combine the two at the end there use Island editor - if you need the same tile a couple times, 'cause you know where they belong. and custom designs - speedy changes
Very well done video. Instructions examples are so clear. I know it took a long time to put this together and a great deal of thought. Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for this video! You’re them first animal crossing RU-vidr I’ve watched and liked the content. Super helpful, anytime I’d see people using “The Path” I’d doubt myself in being able to replicate it. Thanks a lot! I’ll be subscribing 😎
Just when i think my island is perfect with all the beautiful custom designs i’ve found, you gotta go and show this off haha. This is so beautiful but sacrificing that many design slots.... i’d have to redo everythinggg. I have almost 800 hours on that game and so much of it was spent laying down custom rock paths and other cute accents. Seeing your island inspires me though. Maybe in the future i’ll go crazy, wipe my custom designs, and turn my life upside-down :>
This video was super helpful! I was trying to make a cool path going through my mushroom forest but it just looked funny and odd, so this was super helpful! :)
