I installed Wheel Masters 4" valve extensions on my Coachman 260DS and they leaked after the first trip. I will show you what happened and how I was able to permanently eliminate the valve extension altogether.

Appreciate the video and detail regarding the stem failure. I recently picked up a new to us Dutch Star and it came with extenders and an aftermarket tire pressure monitoring system, which is outstanding, but I'm still working through a few issues. I also continue to see tire pressure drop on the inside dually. Issue #1 identified is that the o-ring on the valve extender was folded between the core valve and extender. It was not allowing tire pressure to register as well leaking air. I'm still troubleshooting and appreciate your video detailing challenges with the longer/heavier extender. One recommendation, give these caps a try that allow you to check and fill the tire without removing the cap. I've used them for the last 10 years on my previous RV and they worked perfectly. Never lost any air while sitting and you'll never have to remove another valve stem cap again. I picked mine up at a Speedco truck stop, but they appear to be available everywhere. This model is on e-trailer. "Counteract Double Seal Flow-Through Tire Valve Cap - Item # CA48FR"

Thanks for the product suggestion. I do struggle with trying to get the cap back on. This flow=through cap would solve that issue. Thank you very much.

I have one of those Viair compressors as well and I love it. I just bought a new motorhome and it also has dually rear wheels, but didn't come with any valve stem extenders. My wheels are 22.5 inch Alcoa wheels, so I bought Alcoa valve stem extenders, but they also came with rubber support grommets to support the valve stem extenders inside of the 2" outer wheel hand hole, so that it doesn't cause the issue you experienced with your setup.

I just looked them up. I had no idea they existed. Very good idea. Thanks for the comment.

My wheels (all four) are aluminum. That was an upgrade to the steel wheels with hubcaps. I am happy with them but you do have to polish them from time to time because they are not clear coated. That is a hassle but I think they look better that wheel covers. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for this video! We ordered a ViAir compressor and it should arrive today. Also, husband checked our tire pressure on the inside dually wheel and was shocked to see it was also 30psi! Filled it to 80# and monitoring it. He said it sure drives better, and we tow a stock trailer behind. Question: we have trouble filling the fresh water tank, cannot get the hose threaded on right. We noticed that you have a plumbing fitting at your fill, with a right angle. This looks like a great idea. Is it an assembly that you bought, or did you make it? Any info greatly appreciated! Thanks for your great videos! We love them!

PS: at a campground recently, we talked with other folks about valve extensions for inside dually wheels, and folks were not aware that some had the long seal pin and others did not. All said they were going to check and replace theirs if needed. Just wanted to tell you how your word spreads and how you are educating others. Thanks much!

It is a (Camco (22505) 90 Degree Hose Elbow) I use this because I can close the door to the compartment as well.

You should NEVER rely on RUBBER valve stems on ANY vehicle from 3/4 ton up. Even the so called "high-pressure" rubber stems aren't safe to use. ALWAYS use METAL BOLT-IN stems. (ALSO; I found lightweight extensions made by AIR-FLEXX which I use on my F350 DRW truck and they work well!!)
