Titanfall 2: Advanced Ronin Tips and Tricks! 

Hey guys, I've been a playing ronin since release and I just wanted to point out a few things. Disclaimer as I know someone will get pissy, I am in no way trying to call this video bad, it was very good at laying ronin's base mechanics, and some tips, BUT there are a few more things he left out I thought would be useful for you all. 1: arc wave can instantly destroy tone particle wall and sometimes even stun her instead of just slowing. 2: please for the love of god take extra battery, it will help so much, and if you can't, try and rodeo a Titan before you call in ronin to grab an extra one. 3: the video forgot to mention that during sword core, arc wave turns pretty much into a stun, if you want to survive during sword core without using block, please make sure you stun the titans as your shooting at them which actually leads into, 4: DO NOT ENGAGE WITH ARC WAVE, arc wave is meant for slowing and messing with titans, not dealing damage. If you engage with arc wave, all your doing is giving them a big heads up that your coming. Shoot first, arc wave, dash, shoot, phase dash, shoot, arc wave, dash, Meele. Rinse and repeat.

ronin is literally a glass cannon, you need to keep in mind that sword block blocks damage from all sides and you need to be holding it up as much as you can bear and then more, u can quite literally block every core (except an enemy sword core) with sword block. you are designed to flank as ronin and you need to keep in mind when to disengage and how to defeat an enemy sword core. To defeat an enemy sword core, (this works for all titans btw) you need to melee them less then a second before they melee you, this will cancel the enemiys melee and give you the upper hand, this is quite literally your only option when facing a sword core. in LTS, you need to get a battery, because of your low health value. keep in mind that you can aim down sights with arc waveand that it will do 1500 damage while in sword core. keep in mind the fact that you can phase boost by hitting dash and then phase dash in extremly rapid succesion to cover a large amount of ground quickly, YOU ARE DESIGNED TO FLANK AS RONIN, you need to operate as a lone wolf and let your team take out the northstar in the field good luck -a G17 Ronin Show less

Hey a good Ronin guide. Feels like 99% of them out there just state the obvious and recommend the noob playstyles that only get your destroyed. I never actually thought about using arc as an aim guard while you strafe. Not a bad idea if I have an extra Arc laying around, but I feel it's very effective to use them to slow down retreating enemies or do heavy DPS while in Sword Core, especially to multiple targets. Some other tips I HIGHLY recommend is -that you always use Sword Block when using Phase Dash. Using block will eliminate the possibility of you being insta-killed when coming out. Instead it'll only give you a half a bar of damage if you do pop in in a bad spot, rather than being destroyed completely. -When using Sword Core, don't blindly go damage crazy. You have plenty of time to make use of it, unlike everyone else's Core abilities. Play just as smart and careful as you do without the core or else you're just playing the stupid "kamikaze" way and you don't get any better doing that. -When DPSing during a Sword Core, don't dash in a straight line. If you're hitting them, dash left and right and they can't hardly even hit you. Strafing with that core is a HUGE help to survivability and I feel most people just do forward/backward dashes and only get themselves killed. -Overcore is the best Ronin perk IMO. Sword Core gets ready super duper fast, counter smokes are ready much faster as well, and it gives you more time to learn how to play Ronin the smart way as I feel that playing with Nuclear Ejection is the same 'kamikaze' strategy that only encourages you to not learn how to play Ronin as a class and cop-out for occasional suicide kills. -Use Counter Smoke offensively against titans, not pilots (unless you don't have a Phase Dash ready). Smokes make titan engagements so much easier and chaotic. It helps you AND your team when the opposing team doesn't know wtf is going on or where you're at. -When a pilot is trying to steal a battery, use Phase Dash at the last second and you'll take zero damage and get the opportunity to kill the pilot for a free battery. Pilots take approximately 4 seconds to pull the battery, unless they have Low Profile--which drops that notification time down to ~2 seconds. Phase Dash itself lasts about 2 seconds. Do the quick math and know when to Phase to save yourself a smoke, some HP, and get a free overshield.

Extra tips: Their is a bug in the game (not sure if patched yet) that if a pilot rodeos you and you phase dash as he/she is taking your battery, you'll take zero damage and the pilot will still have your battery. So you can kill him/her and take the magic battery and you'll be in a better position then when you started. It'll take some practice but when you get used to it you'll want to be rodeo'd as soon as phase dash is ready (Edit: after some in-game research i concluded that the trick now only partially works, you take no damage but the pilot doesn't have a battery. Still useful though, being the only titan that has two ways to defend itself from rodeo attacks) . Also Arc-wave instantly kills Tones' Particle wall and heavily damages Legions Gun shield. So if you see a Tone cramping itself is a corner and spamming it's Particle wall, do your team a HUGE favor and Arc-wave it to nothing. Speaking of Arc-wave it always sticks to ground. So if you use it on a high ledge, it'll continue where it left off on the ground. I Hope this helps.

I find Ronin player annoying and used to find Ronin as a hard Titan to use but now he's becoming my favorite Titan I used to/still love Ion and Scorch

Best Ronin vid on RU-vid.. so then yes,Thunderstorm and overcore probably or maybe extra dash.. It took me a long time to get comfortable with his core actually, for a long time I avoided it but I've been mastering it lately - def pretty damn good.

Ronin was basically born from the demons of the underworld and nowadays he is sending people to their doom, so get ready to be killed in less Than 10 seconds coz of his melee and leadwall shotgun

When u phase sword block so even if u phase into a Titan you won’t die just take a lot of damage

actually ronins sword swing is the slowest melee swing with monarch and ion (possibly tone) being the fastest but his melee has highest damage and range, if we ignore monarchs bugged melee

Very helpful. I always felt too squishy to play Ronin. Turns out I just don't block enough.

A lot of people says sword block is op but there's 2 reasons why this isnt true, first, it slows you down which is the worst that can happen to a ronin and second, is the only block ability you cant do damage with while you are using it

Could you please do a guide on countering enemy titans when you're using the same titan as them? (Ronin vs ronin e.g.) You've got the best titans out there by the way, thank you and keep it up!

When I use Ronin, I like doing the steps, 1. Call in Ronin as I rodeo my target 2. Shoot 3. Since I use thunderstorm, Arc wave block, Arc wave, block, repeat until 4. 4. Get up close and simultaneously smoke and melee 5. Dash and block 6. Phase 7. Repeat, except for 1.

I think ronin’s sword block shouldn’t block things like fire stars or electric smoke. If you want to keep behind damage block sure, but he should be able to block things his sword couldn’t even block in the first place.

hey bro, do u think that is a good idea to, ah let me explain. U have 1 dash, and u use it in the direction of a ejecting titan that has nuclear eject. u are rly close of him and u dont have any dash or fase dash. is a good idea to core to get the dash quickly and run out, or just explode?

I usually just combine the offensive and defensive combinations to make me more annoying to deal with and more deadly 7:17

Hello 4FS, I am having trouble using my core while doomed, it seems worthless to me as you can only use the sword which leads to easy melee for opponents as you have to be close. I just keep getting melee while in doom state and getting nothing from my core. What am I doing wrong? Anybody can help me.....please comment.

I do bad with ronin. I just started playing titanfall2 but I feel like his gun is doing nothing compared to others. Does it have to be a close range face shot to do any real damage?

*THIS VIDEO IS MISLEADING:* Ronin's melee is actually .5 seconds SLOWER than all other titans. Thus you almost always lose a melee battle as Ronin. If you're hitting someone in swordcore who's not another Ronin, then all they have to do is quite literally hit their melee key as much as possible and they will out time you. This "mechanic" will cancel out all damage from your swing on them, and only your titan will be damaged. This is a complete oversight on Respawn's part. The only way to counter this is to mis-time your melees. So dash first, then melee.

"Surprisingly durable" Yeah, you can really tell Ronin is durable when he gets spawn killed before you can embark him from 10 metres away.
