The land registry should adopt electronic record keeping and build a warning system to trigger alerts to authorities and owners(via email or phone) whenever an alteration is made or even an unauthorized access is made by land employees. Pole sana.

You guys need to use the momentum of this series to lobby for real reforms in land administration, for the punishment of the perpetrators of these injustices, despite the systems that protect them, and for social justice and order to be restored to land administration, including compensation by the state for these inequities!

As a surveyor, I can assure you that people do steal other people's land like this. Others push boundaries of the parcels of land into their neighbours land especially for those who don't have title deeds huko mashinani. Then when the so called authorities come to issue the titles, the owners are informed that they infringed into the other person's land and since people don't have money to fight, they just accept their new fate.

I keep seeing this sentiment of "own land in the village", implying that these issues are only in town, but nothing could be further from the truth. Hata vijijini kuna shida - the first one being, a lot of those pieces of land have no titles!

How are you gonna verify your signature when you are already dead? There needs to be something on the part of the government to safeguard the integrity of the registries . This signature issues happens exactly in obtaining birth certificates.

Why do Kenyans always blame the “government” when dealing with issues like this? By blaming the “government” you are making the issue bigger than it is and you therefore become helpless as you cannot fight the “government”. These are individuals with strategic positions colluding with criminals. The individuals have signed fake documents and work under supervisors and bosses. Let’s hold their bosses responsible! Put their bosses names on your reports as they have failed us too all the way to the Minister of lands. For example CK Ngetich whose name has appeared on several forged document works in Land Registry under the acting chief David Nyandoro. Mr David should be held accountable to explain. He is either not doing his job in supervising his juniors or he is part of the scheme!

When respondents countersue in land court cases and they win, do the applicants pay legal fees accrued by the respondents? Cause I can imagine this family had to pay a lot of money for legal representation

Kenya today is a very sad place to live in. Corruption and crime has become the legitimate currency to achieve success, whether it be political positions, business, education or legal contests. Why are these things not happening to our neighbors, Uganda and Tanzania? Why has land become the only currency that matters? It's because an artificial shortage of land has been created by amassing, by a few influential persons, disproportionately huge land for speculation and starving the rest of the population of land to settle. This is an age old problem, and the tragic issue of land ownership will not go away unless deliberate steps are taken to devalue land and change the culture driving people into land ownership at the expense of everything else.

Poverty makes people view the civil service as an avenue to get rich quick. The land grabbers shown here are proxies for big kahunas in government. Kenya's poor values system is also to blame. It started with Jomo Kenyatta's backward chauvinism and continues to this day. That it is okay to sit back and steal from the hard working Kenyan, reward the thief or proxy, all the while harassing the victim(s) to prevent them from getting justice.

Interesting observation, @@peterm9696. On a blockchain, no particular person is responsible for data entry. If I buy land from you through a blockchain network (using my wallet that's installed on my PC), that transaction is instantly recorded and propagated to every other computer on the network so that everyone knows it now belongs to the owner of the wallet that bought it (a.k.a, Me). The transaction record is immutable and stays there forever for everyone to see because every PC on the blockchain has a copy of the entire blockchain. If anyone wants to know who currently owns the land, they can simply trace it back to my wallet (Which is identified by a unique hash). Hiyo inaondoa hii ufala ya Ardhi House.

Exactly so a blockchain would have to be inaccessible, data managed by a third neutral party outside of Kenya preferably for example, a department within the commonwealth office in the UK, a British official or an Australian official or even Canadian official but not a Kenyan for all data recording, keeping, and there be a fail safe process of verification. @@peterm9696

Kagweria look for guys who work for lawyers. The guys who are sent to Arthi House, Court , Sheria House ....the so called clerks .....errand runners for lawyers. They will tell you what really goes on. They know everything. They are often overworked underpaid and treated as many topically treat maids messengers and watchmen. They then collude with registry staff in court,arthi house and sheria house. These are smart people and are the least on the pyramid yet they are the runners of land fraud, case delays and files getting lost.
