I’m honestly shocked at how many views this video has gotten. I don’t think I’ll ever figure this algorithm out. If you are one of the many who watched it and wondered what it actually is and why I designed and built it the way I did, this updated description is for you.
It’s a sheet metal press i designed and built to reproduce custom transmission tunnel extensions for Jeep bodies being stretched from TJ to LJ lengths. There is a small(ish) but growing community of us who can’t justify paying LJ prices but want a longer wheelbase and/or more interior cargo room. We have a facebook group if you’re interested.

I make and sell these tunnels to the group members in short runs every 6 months or so.
Now for the more skilled and knowledgeable of you watching.
Why don’t I just use a hydraulic press instead of doing everything by hand?
First and foremost, I enjoy the process. I’m an architect by trade but a maker at heart. The enjoyment that I get from designing and perfecting mechanisms like this far out ways the modest profits it’s made for me lol. But to be honest I’m simply a weekend warrior in the garage. I can’t justify investing time and money into building or buying a giant piece of machinery that I would have to wheel around my modestly sized garage when it’s not being used. I needed a lightweight, compact solution that could be stored away on a shelf in the corner until I need it. If I were pumping out 40-50 transmission tunnels at a time I could probably justify a hydraulic press but that’s just not the case.
After a lengthy hiatus the TJ-6 custom transmissions tunnel press is back in action!
If your doing the TJ-6 stretch and you want to keep it looking factory spec. These tunnels are the answer.
