Probably to show how the bari isn't only restricted to playing bass lines and stuff in ensembles but are able to sound beautiful on their own, as well.
So doing some research.. I found some options for this god's setup on bari. the mouthpiece brand could be a rousseau or a zinner. definitely not a selmer or a vandoren based on shape. and yeah.. a zinner? what? I know I know.. hear me out.. (I saw a brand named zinner for classical sax and they sounded pretty good in comparison to vandoren and selmer and + it shares same design of mpc from this guys vid.. search them up). For Yasuto's ligature, hes using a BG metal for bari (probably gold plated) and reeds.. well. my guess is as great as anyones is. I hope I helped?
oh goose.... he sounds so good.... his tone is beautiful and his technique (as far as i can tell) is flawless. Jealousy to the max.. HAHAHA this is a good motivator! time to work hard!
Seriously, each time I watch this, I am astonished that he can get up to that octave on a bari. I'm also surprised he's not hunched over from carrying that 4 ft. tall saxophone. When he plays, he makes the bari sound like some light and dainty instrument. Oh, man. If I tried that I'd definitely be a squeaker all the way. What a talented man. Good piano accompaniment! Awesome pair!
The Bari isn't as hard to play/hard to carry as you would think. It's really easy to have a good range on your instrument, unless you are going stupidly ridiculously high, which is just a pain on any instrument (he's not going too high). The main struggle I have as a Bari player is achieving good tone and playing with the correct dynamics in a concert band setting, because bari is primarily used in jazz and stuff like that. Also his tone is a lot different than most Bari players because most like to get more of a "honk" kind of sound out of it rather than what he does, which is much more beautiful.
Who could give this a thumbs down? I rarely comment about what other people post but to give this ridiculously amazing recording a thumbs down must be the work of the typical losers that we warn our children about when it comes to internet usage. Tanaka is a master. I wish there were more videos of him.
Adolph Sax created the perfect instrument. Has the dynamic power of a brass instrument, with sonority of a string instrument. Why these aren't in orchestras is still beyond me.
How do u make ur bari fuckign sound like this holy shit. Everybody i have ever met including myself, has this dirty hard tone and u just come in here and play it like a cello.
My god that beginning is so agonizingly beautiful and melancholy. I wish I could hear him play a whole song that sounds like the first minute and 40 seconds
Wow, I’ve had this pop up in my RU-vid suggestions but never opened it until now.........my good lord what an amazing tone, amazing player, not my cup of tea style wise but the musicianship is incredible
Can someone please put the link to where I can find sheet music for this his playing in phenomenal I listen to it at least 10 times a day that’s how much I love it I play the Bari and I would really enjoy if someone could tell me where to find the music
Manuel Perez it looks like a Yamaha sax, I think it’s a ybs62 because it has a high #f, the mouthpiece looks like a Vandoren, I don’t know about the reed
sounds like a selmer c star to me. a very beautiful piece amazing control and tone. very unique sound you bring out on the instrument. and for everyone asking about the mouth piece, maybe its not just that? the ligature he uses is a nice one, expensive for someone of my age with no job. xD i wonder what kind of reeds he is using though..
Yasuto Tanaka also plays bari in the Trouvere saxophone quartet. They have a great recording of one of their pieces here on RU-vid. Great performances by him all the time.
it shows both the beauty of the low notes and the higher notes. ad they blend so nicely it makes you smile. this song just makes me want to pick mine up and play.
