On the controversy around TM Krishna being conferred the Sangita Kalanidhi award by the Madras Music Academy and the Carnatic music fraternity’s response, Rao says it is an “intra-Brahmin musician dispute”. One faction wants to “take Carnatic music to the masses”, while the other wants to maintain its “hegemony”.
On Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, Manisha says the PMLA Act is “scary”. “You cannot get bail in PMLA till the court is satisfied that there is prima facie no case.”

I agree with Manisha on "what voter sees". Why doesnt INC give up on Rahul Gandhi? There is no wave favouring him. There never was. INC is putting all their resources behind a man who is clearly not liked by Indian citizens. Bharat jodo yatra could have been revolutionary if led by anyone else. I agree with Manisha on regional leaders' success against Modi, though this is limited to specific states. Beyond local leaders, other factors influence these dynamics. Public opinion in these states plays a significant role. The media's portrayal of Modi varies regionally. In Tamil Nadu, for instance, media networks are generally not as aligned with Modi as those in the Noida region, often showing a leaning towards DMK. However, it's noticeable that other parties also run their channels for news and entertainment. There are memes that mocks DMK/ADMK/CONGRESS/BJP. The active govt takes action against memes made about them. But it isn't as atrocious as it often happens in northern states. In Karnataka, my birth state, the media generally respects Modi but doesn't shy away from critiquing local BJP government issues. This type of reporting influenced the outcomes of the last state elections. While there is biased journalism that fuels Hindu-Muslim tensions, many journalists boldly address political corruption and hate politics. Overall, these states feature media that represents multiple perspectives, allowing the public to see through the bluffs of various parties and stay better informed. Abhinandan is right, if Modi lost the support of mainstream media, he probably wouldn't last long in today's global world. The media plays a big role in keeping him where he is.

Agree with Abhinandan, Though Sonia Gandhi had initiated the padayatra before 2003 elections, it was never a SOnia vs Atal election. But the delight of 2003 was that people voted out a communal government and a leader who could not handle a CM who organized riots. Though India had made significant gains under AB Vajpayee his inability to control Gujarat led to his govt's exit.

Similar issue like TM.krishnas in Kerala, but godi media is not highlighting it because it doesn't suit their agenda. Those two sisters were Modi's admirers and tn bjp has been trying to use it to attract Brahmin community, since there is some disappointment among them because most of the seniors from that community were sidelined and not given opportunity in this election.

I think i agree with the fact that I'd rather vote for a detector than a clueless being. I dont agree with Kejriwal unlawful arrest, but that should be the only criterion to vote/not vote Modi. In order to perform excellent democracy, we need opposition rather good opposition, and sadly, we have none today. We can't blame Modi for that. Also, im proud today to see India's stand today internationally. And admire Modi for that and for many other decisions. Such few wins do not make him a good person. indeed. But, everyone is bad. I don't know how many people will admit, but I truly believe the reason a lot of people voted for Modi in 2014 did so because of the religious politics. The host and the guest Dr. Rao’s ignorance when it comes to matters associated with Carnatic Music, its heritage, musicians etc is astounding and staggering. Looks like they have bought on to some myths that someone spewed (e.g., “Carnatic music is owned by a certain group of people” or some to that effect) and not really studied / analyzed the facts themselves. And labeling those not in that ‘group’ (let me say it, they mean Brahmins and that they do not allow non-Brahmins to learn music) is their hypothesis. Further, if there are some non-Brahmins learning/learnt Carnatic music, they are labeled as ‘outliers’. This whole thing is ridiculous beyond pale and it is an insult to those incredible musicians. Here is just a sample of those coming under ‘outliers’: Ilayaraja AR Rahman Many troops of Nadaswaram Vidwans TMS Sirkazhi Govindarajan Yesudas Sheikh Chinnamoulana Sahib MS Amma Brinda Amma Older generations of many Pillais - Dakshinamoorthy, Rajamanickam Chowdiah Dwaram Venkataswany NIdu and the list goes on. Given a chance I am ready to fall at each of these feet for their knowledge! There have been many cases where Brahmins trained non-Brahmins and vice-versa. Regarding host and Dr.Rao’s comment that ‘supposedly Carnatic music is complex’ (that is the gist) - indeed it is complex. One needs to look at the number of Ragas; their strict adherence to the notes that defines them; Melakarta Ragas naming convention; ThaLa structures and how they all come together in a concert is just mind boggling. It is just sad how people who have some ulterior motives of their own just spew nonsense when they are given a microphone!

It might seem unfair but my point is that someone from within is looking to expand the scope of carnatic music. When it happens in Islam, I believe it should be accepted as well. That it wouldn't be is a different issue but why it shouldn't be attempted in other music cultures/languages and regional cultures is a question that needs exploration.

Deplorable Views By TM KRISHNA ON KASAB HANGING: The first concerns capital punishment. The laws of our land are, purportedly, founded on certain moral guiding principles. But I fail to see any moral justification for capital punishment. Not very long ago, when we fought and earned the right to govern ourselves as a nation, we did so by wielding a very powerful weapon - ahimsa or non-violence - one that defeated the enemy not militarily but morally. Isn't it anachronistic then that today we seek to punish criminals in the most violent way possible: by taking their lives? The judge who condemned Kasab to the gallows proclaimed that he was inhuman and undeserving of any mercy. But is it just being merciful to spare someone the death sentence? Isn't it also the morally right thing to do? Agreed that any punishment must be proportional to the gravity of the crime but if we are serious about preserving our identity as a nation founded on the principle of non-violence, shouldn't we at least debate the morality of capital punishment? By TM KRISHNA ON KASAB HANGING Mr TM Krishna hope you are made to serve in BSF for 5 years. Would see whether you speak the same rubbish after that experience.

Ever heard of conscientious objectors ! It's not unique to have dissident voices even in the most extremist circumstances... In a highly democratic country with rights defence is even provided to traitors and secessinists...that is owed to the strength of a democracy

Post indepth argument Kabab was found guilty and sentenced to death. This is what is expected from democracy even to a monster and it was provided as well. RaGa is not getting a space in the Godi media, and Modi does mann ki baat, which even you talk about, at least in a sarcastic way, but ignore videos on prominent opposition leader like the one I mentioned. We are doing everything we can to get rid of caste.. reservations, anti caste laws.. how are brahmins privileged nowadays? If anything it's the other way around.
