My father has since passed on but I have his 2003 Tmaxx 2.5… I’ll never part with it, sometimes when im itching for a bash I reach for it over my xmaxx or hoss… nostalgia is a hard thing to overcome at times lol
I still have my og Traxxas tmaxx I bought in 2000. Still has the original engine. Haven't busted it out in a decade. Really wanting to get back into the hobby now that I have big boy money
Don't know what gearing you have on that but with a good tune an the right gears you will go 45+. Mine without the wheelie bar on the back will do a backflip from standstill. When you find the sweet spot on the engine tune it will pop wheelies all the time pulling off.
It was shifting early but shifting early would only affect acceleration not the top speed. Second gear is a set ratio. Doesnt matter if it is set to shift late, early, or locked into second. If the engine is able to hit max rpm then thats as fast as it will go. It has since been 37 on a gear swap.
Glad to see another T-Maxx Classic back on the road! I've been ressurecting mine during the pandemic, but mine bucks like crazy at low speeds. Have adjusted all needles and screws for optimum performance, but still bucks at a standstill... Yours does not. Any secrets to share?
Dan Kids You Not bucking as in the transmission seems to engage and disengage while idling? If so lower your idle, either by richening the low speed needle or adjusting the idle screw. The transmission has a pin that engages the trans at a certain rpm and if your idle is to high it will keep engaging and then disengaging.
@@BigDogBermuda13 Ahh I am excited to finally get mine up and running. I am nearly there... Just need fuel lines, servo mounts (I threw them out by accident), and a header to come in and I should be up and running!
Personally I feel like you need to change the shift point. Sounds like you’re lugging the engine pretty hard. You need to let the engine get near the top of the rev range before it shifts.
Dylan White it is shifting fairly early on pavement but perfectly on rougher terrain. I am considering swapping to a slightly taller gear and i will dial it in then! 👍
Nice. I was considering buying one of these myself but I just found a xmaxx with a max6 esc I think I can’t pass up for $650. Just need some tires and motor fan.
I just picked one up from a friend almost new, for a hundred bucks with a extra rolling chassis minus the motor.. how can I tell if it's the 15. Or 2.5. Thanks Man
My favorite part of the truck is the way it sounds, it literally sounds like a race care because the nitrous gas in it. I prefer gas over electric personally, how about yourself?
