No plan for integrated analogue. That ship sailed along time ago. I get the feeling ws were hoping a 3rd party might have made something. As for needing the extension module, yes and no. You could use it, but there are other adapters that will work just as well. BDI and uruav for example. The ones folk use on tje DJI V2 goggles

They work, but the RF performance of the gogglesL is better. There's pros and cons to both, so it would be purely down to your budget and flying style.
They will work with only power, HOWEVER, you will need to connect them to the X or a computer to change their settings, PLUS you need the X back button to 'tap tap tap' to reset the central position. So while you can use them without the X, really you will need them
