You're my hero. I've been doing research into everything I need to make a Ripley costume, powerloader, and alien costume. Your video helps tons. Just wish I had the funds and space to create!
That is some seriously clever craftsmanship to make something like that. Beautifully done. Would be nicer if you could make full clonking steps in it though.
@noelgreencom I have to say, it's shocking to realize it, but wow, I do come off a bit boorish there. On behalf of everyone else who has ever made a Power Loader costume before, I submit that mine is merely another geeky attempt with its own faults and merits. Credit goes to all artists who aspire to battle Alien Queens and recreate Cameron's awesome design. My personal favorite is Hallert's. :)
You make Geeks everywhere proud man! I would love to build some of this stuff, but I have no room to keep it...... One day! Awesome job though, keep it up.
This is epic and I commend you. You did an awesome job. It's inspiring. Something I think you may have missed from the original is how they made it work, which explains why yours is having difficulty. On one of the behind the scenes vids, Cameron explained that the suit actually had a 7 foot tall body builder hidden inside, so that the 5'6" Ripley could "operate" the loader. It was effectively a giant puppet game, with Sigoruney coordinating her movements with the bodybuilder.
amazing job, i'm looking to make a simplified version of this for cosplay at Dragon Con this year. mine will be smaller in scale and a lot easier to manipulate. i will use the simplest methods i have found to do this. it will not be movie quality, but it will draw attention. i have not seen one yet!
Yeah, if anything, most fan-made power loader costumes tend to be more practical than the actual one was. And blast it all, I know my Power Loader can make bigger steps than shown in these videos, but I think it's too late to try and prove everyone wrong. It's already gone "viral" and probably had the most views it's gonna get. Had I known it was going to be plastered all over the internet, I might have done a better job. Heh.
I recon we have the technology to build mechs now because theres that prototype excosuit and cranes and those robot hands that are used to build cars etc and we have robots
yeah, dude! Go win some contests! I know a guy who made an awesome Kling-on costume, and he uses the same costume at every contest, and he wins most of them. He made back the money he spent making the costume, and much more.
Don't take this the wrong way but... Do you have a job? If not u could make bookoos of cash making costumes for clients who are just as geeky but hopelessly uncreative/lazy.
