Anytime you put Al’s voice through a mic it just makes me think of all my Sunday Night Football memories with him. What a guy!

Al almost became the Phoenix Suns announcer back in the day before Al McCoy. Think how that would've changed broadcast history

One thing's for sure we're all going to miss Al Michaels when he retires just like Suns games won't be the same without McCoy. If Michaels called the Suns games we'd be saying the same thing if he were to retire.

6:50 Wayne Gretzky was famously afraid of flying, but he did it anyway. I guess John Madden had a worse case. 0

Al Michaels has a great voice as a play-by-play announcer. That is his strength. But he really ends up being not very good in the football booth because he always wants to compete with the color man. That's not his job. Always has to get the last word in, it's crazy. He showed some restraint with Collinsworth in his later years but he was terrible with Madden. The great one with Madden was of course Summerall, who always spoke with restraint. Call the plays and get out of the way, let the color man do the color.

Hard disagree. Al is too knowledgeable to stay quiet. The same goes for Jim Nantz. And they're both fantastic at what they do.
