Paul Anka was a "Teen Idol," splashing onto the scene with a number one hit "Diana" when he was just 16. Along with a dreamy voice, he was an awesome songwriter as well, writing songs for many other artists like Frank Sinatra (My Way), Tom Jones, and even Michael Jackson. His first album was produced in 1958 and he continued to release albums right through to 2013, with quite a few songs making the top Hits charts along the way. At the age of 81, he is still out there performing with 16 concerts scheduled for 2023 in the U.S. A very talented man indeed.

Paul Anka wrote the song “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” which was a hit for Buddy Holly. After Buddy Holly was tragically killed on February 3rd, 1959 alongside The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens he donated the composing royalties of this song to Holly’s widow. He also penned the song “My Way” which was a signature tune for ‘Ol Blue Eyes’ Frank Sinatra.

Again no notification on YT. Here’s a short summary of some Paul’s many accomplishments from Wikipedia: Paul Albert Anka OC (born July 30, 1941) is a Canadian-American singer, songwriter and actor. He is best known for his signature hit songs including "Diana", "Lonely Boy", "Put Your Head on My Shoulder", and "(You're) Having My Baby". Anka also wrote the theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson; one of Tom Jones' biggest hits, "She's a Lady"; and the English lyrics to Claude François and Jacques Revaux's music for Frank Sinatra's signature song "My Way", which has been recorded by many, including Elvis Presley. He co-wrote three songs with Michael Jackson: "This Is It" (originally titled "I Never Heard")[1] "Love Never Felt So Good", and "Don't Matter to Me", which became posthumous hits for Jackson in 2009, 2014, and 2018, respectively. He is still out there performing. I saw him about 4 years ago in Atlantic City, NJ. Great reaction TNT. Thanks for keeping great music current. ❤✌️

My cousin Billy was a "1-hit wonder" with "graduation day" (Billy & the Rover Boys) and Paul Anka hung onto him waiting for a brake in the music business. Paul became huge with 1st song "Diana" which was Billy's daughters name...and and as life went on Billy only could play condos and cruises for the rest of his life, now Paul was the star. Paul was a great song writer and wrote for Sinatra (My Way)!

It seemed never-ending because there were so many talented singers and groups. Would love to hear another classic “Goodnight My Love” by Jesse Belvin. He had a wonderful voice but sadly his career was cut short when he died in a car accident right after his song made it as a hit. 👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦

You guys missed so much by not watching Paul Anka doing this song live. To say he's cute is the understatement of the century! There's at least 2 different ones, one where he interacts with the audience -- which I highly recommend! He was definitely a teen idol back in the 50's. I was just a child in the 50's (born in 1950!). My very first 45 rpm record was from Paul and he was definitely, in my pre-teen mind, the guy I planned on marrying when I was just a bit older. 😅 😂 ❤ Anyway, even if you don't do a formal reaction to it, you need to see Paul do this live at about the ripe old age of 19 or so. You will both love the live version. Please do more from Paul Anka because he's important in the evolution of pop music going forward. BTW, Anka is pronounced like the "a" in "bank." There's slso lots of videos on YT with Paul singing some of his catalog when he's much, much older. You can tell that most of his audience is much older, too, and he prompts them to sing parts of the songs with him. What fun is that!! It shows how much we old people really love and remember his music well. Puppy Love is another song of his that became a major hit for himself nut also Donny Osmond in the 1970's. Good reaction, guys. Please more Paul Anka!!! ❤❤❤

I agree with everything Tasha said about the generational music, I'm 79 and have been listing to Country,,Rock and Roll,Rockabilly and the Blues,I'm very happy that you are Keeping the Music Alive The thing that I really don't understand is that more reaction channels are not doing any of the Older Blues Artists, we are going to loose some of the best music ever made as it is dying. There are a few new artists doing some of the older blues by very very few.The Blues was what brought us Rock and Roll and Rockabilly even a lot of the country artists covered women of the old blues music. Thank you again for keeping the music alive!

People under the age of 40 don't realize how vital dancing was to our culture prior to the digital age. It was a significant form of socializing for people of all age groups. I danced to this, and other songs like it, as a young teen, and it was a pathway to initiating relationships with possible love interests when a mutual friend connection wasn't present. I often wish reviewers would invite their grandparents to participate which might add interesting context to the songs!

I love seeing how you feel about the music of the '50s and early '60s, and appreciate how great it was, and how you DON'T hear music of this quality NOW... That is why the music of the '50s, '60s, is so special to me, because that is the period I grew up in, I was in my '20s in the '70s and in my '30s in the '80s. When the '90s came along, and thereafter, 90 % of the music did nothing for me. ( Paul's LAST name is pronounced "AN -ka" like the word "an" as in " I would like AN orange" -Ka" not like "AWn-ka )

I also like what you just said at the end about this music back in the day when people heard it the feelings that it gave them , I don't think the world we live in today even has those feelings anymore ? Those were much simpler times and we just don't live in simpler times anymore ! I think we live in a world where people are afraid to show their feelings and if they have a crush on someone in fear of rejection we live in a world of judgment and rejection and no one likes rejection , A lot of people have walls up to protect themselves and that leads to missed opportunities !

At the time Paul Anka was dating Annette Funacello. He wrote it to her. Annette was one of the original Mickey Mouse Club kids in the '50s. In the '60s she did a number of beach movies with Frankie Avalon (another popular '50s/'60s singer). BTW, check out Frankie Avalon ("Venus" was his biggest hit), Bobby Rydell (one of the best voices of the time), Fabian (who admitted he couldn't sing but his looks made him popular), Ricky Nelson (a lot of good music into the '70s), and James Brown (the "Godfather of Soul") just to name a few.

Some time passed and I started to watch them to see how younger people were responding to music they'd never heard of. Your combined definition on why this is important was dead on in multiple ways. I think that today you can choose to listen to a very narrow range … when I was young we had one tv with 3 channels and only a handful of radios stations … if you wanted entertainment you had to listen to what came on the radio sometimes to just hear that one song you waited for . My parents controlled the tv and we all watched together …. Variety shows like the Carrol Burnett show or Sonny and Cher …. I think it exposed us to a wider variety of music.
