TNT React To Tom Macdonald - Sellout 

So glad you guys did this song. I love the behind the scenes feel to the video. One of my favorites from him. In my opinion, I couldn't care less if Tom had a giant mansion and 100 Tesla's, his music will speak for itself. I think the only way he would be considered a "sellout" is if he signed with a label because a lot of his music is about his independence. If you need some recommendations, I Don't Care and I Hate Hip-Hop are 2 incredible songs by him. Great reaction as usual. Hope you guys are having a nice week!

I think I asked already on another video yesterday, but since this is fresh: totally check out 'I Wish', by Tom.. it's one of his more unique songs, way different than his other material, yall would like it.

He has definately changed along the way. I love to see the growth personally...I enjoy watching the change. However, there are some die hard old fans that want him to write the old stuff... Tom has even recently pulled his old music off the internet. You fant even listen to his original stuff on Spotify anymore. He doesn't want that image and I get it. But it made a lot of people upset to lose the stuff they been listening too. It's ok for me...I like the new stuff better anyway.

I hate when ppl talk about bands or solo artists selling out. Because truth is if they were in the same situation they'd jump at the chance for more 💰. I'd love to know who wouldn't want more money for yourself and your family.

Great discussion guys and I agree, we all have to change and grow. As a fan I’m so proud of Tom and Nova. I wish for them a happy life and much success. I wish that for everyone. ♥️

I remember Dee Snider of the band Twisted Sister talking about how their songs were about anger and rage based on how they grew up. Then they blew up. They had some hits, toured and made a bunch of money. They had signed a multi album deal. Dee said he got a call from the record company and the guy was like "Hey man you owe us two more albums. When are we gonna hear something?" And Dee says he was sitting in his pool at his Malibu mansion thinking..."I'm having a hard time finding a reason to be angry."

Footage of them moving was them moving into the hose they're in now. He said old house was so close to the 2020 riots in LA that people were running through their yard. He and Nova were scared for their lives and that was the last straw for them, so they moved out of LA

He will struggle to find the same place. That is a struggle for any artist. When life isn’t as hard… angst is art

I think when an artist gets some success they naturally want to try to do other or different things. Many fans don’t like this because they want an artist to keep doing what they been doing. It makes people feel comfortable but really it shows how insecure they are. "sellout" is more about the content of the music and bowing to the industry, not being successful, "sellout" isn't about just changing, we all change all the time

Was watching some other TM reactions, really enjoy your reactions, and this was a pleasant surprise as I didn't know you had recently dropped a reaction to one of his older videos. This is probably one of my favorite soft vibe songs of TM's. Demonstrates the range of TM with his music and I think Nova puts together a real great compilation of behind the scenes home videos for the video, top notch all the way.

I like Tom McDonald because his success is His and Nova's, without any help from the corporate industry in fact they shunned him. There are many artists that when they go corporate they lose what made them special. Look what happened to T-Pain with his corporate debuggle. He's lucky that he is still a phenomenal artist and was able to survive it and learn the valuable lesson

I never felt like he sold out. If anything he struggles more with the fame and I think to this day he is still trying to figure out how the navigate it all while both staying true to himself as well as managing his mental health and keeping his sobriety. I think overall he is still trying to figure out how to balance all of these things.

The struggle makes on hungry and that hunger drives the creativity. The thing with Tom is, the struggle is with mental health, the depression and anxiety are the struggles that keep Tom in the creative hunger. It’s never been the fame that drove Tom. As someone who also struggles with depression, I can say, it is not something that one can buy their way out of. I am #hangovergang forever ✌🏽

Great reaction and discussion T and Tasha, no Tom doesn't show off his wealth, they cycle around on bikes locally, Tom and Nova are thrifty, that is why he builds his own sets, he doesn't hire someone in to do what he can do, that is why I believe him when he says the designer is second hand or fake, he doesn't mix with the glitterati so he doesn't have to show off or keep up with the Jones. I think people that hate on others success are upset cause it shows them their own weakness to succeed themselves.

That makes no sense if they make early on.once the success comes, selling out is taking an easy radio playable song. Or so it was in my day.

I listened to Metallica since the first albums release until about 1988 or 89. Personally And Justice For All was the last album that I listened to. By selling out, I would have to say that every Metallica album has a specific style that is the trademark sound associated with the band, but after And Justice for All, the band did a 180. It wasn't about playing larger arenas or selling more albums, it was about compromising the raw, gritty, dirty, heaviness and acquired sound that they created to make something more radio friendly and acceptable to critics of the original style of Metallica. Not satisfied with the legion of fans, they sold out in order to be obsequious to their naysayers. Cause I remember champion their cause asking all the top rock radio stations to play Metallica in the 80's to which reply I continuously got was that Metallica was Too Heavy. So they were aware of that and fixed it. There were other tweaks made to the band but the sound was the biggest change

And selling out would indeed change his following for a number of reasons including but not limited to the obvious, he'd be filtered.

The only thing I think I would consider selling out is if an artist did the opposite of what they stood for while gaining success. Tom for example, has stood against signing with a label. So if he chose to sign now, I'd be greatly disappointed. Continued success as an independent artist, I wish him 100% success...as far as he wants to take it! All that said, I still would not attack him or stop listening to his music even if he did sign to a label unless the label had him make music in which I didn't like. Each artist needs to do what they feel is best for them...it's their life and we only get ONE life to experience! 🔥HOG🔥

most of the more popular artists/bands in the world could be called sellouts. however, if they never "sold out", then would you even know who they are? would they be known enough to be considered as a "g.o.a.t."? some artists just want to perform on a high level to prove that they can do it. but I think even more artists want fame in some way. as soon as they get that "fame", fans start calling them sellouts.
