Truthfears Guilty he’s the complete opposite. His ways are of love and peace. His jihad is with himself in perfecting character or striving to do so. He is a Sufi scholar. If you were to know anything about the term Sufi and who they are you would know that it teaches to destroy only the ego. Harming others and showing hostility is off the diseased heart and so please keep your mouth shut instead of being disrespectful. Your tongue can do allot of damage

This comment section is not for your " scholarly debates". No one here is probably qualified to give any fatwas on it being Halal or Haraam or whatever. No real scholar would come by a RU-vid video to give any fatwas. And just because you know of a Hadith saying this or that, you're not a homegrown mufti or muhadith. Let's humble ourselves by leaving such topics to the higher ranks and learned men of this age. Do your Wajib and have good manners and akhlaq towards one another. Don't call one another misguided as if you're given guaranteed guidance from Allah. Forgive me for my straightforwardness. Allahumma Yahdinaa. Salaaam. :)

This video was not made to create a another Mawlid debate on the internet. I uploaded this because the Shaykh gives a good assessment of the issue of Mawlid at the end of the video. If people want to celebrate the Mawlid or not, that's their choice. We should not try to impose our views on others. Both sides have their evidence for and against, lets not make the Mawlid dividing issue for us.

The Fact that the Mawlid was embraced by the Ummah by and large is evidence of it not being a Bid'ah Dhalaalah. The Prophet said in a sahih hadith " Allah will never allow my Ummah to be upon misguidance".. So if the Mawlid was celebrated for 1,000 years by the MAJORITY of the Ummah, is that not a sign that Allah allowed it for the Ummah?

Ok.. More than half of the umma don't pray. More than half shave their beards, (beards are wajb, required) , etc. what what exactly do you have to say about that. Celebrated mawlid is clearly haram, if the prophet nor companians didn't celebrate such thing. What makes you think we (imams, speakers, people) know better? Common man. Be sincere with me habibi

+Abe Naser For every good deed one shall be rewarded and for every sin, punished. so lets stop counting the sins of people and start looking at how they may be better than us. of course not praying is a major sin, but there are ahadith do prove that Allah SWT a Forgave the worst of people (outwardly) because of one action they did that pleased Him SWT. I believe that this Mawlid (celebration) we are definitely thanking Allah SWT by showing gratitude for sending the Beloved SAW to us, he SAW will be the only one, whose waseela will get us to Jannah on Yawm ul Qiyamah.

+Ammara Nisar arent we always suppose to show our "gratitude" towards the messenger?? Or only on mawlid Eid? We show it each and every day.. Look across the world and see what this mawlid has become, people are now worshipping the graves, asking "Mohammed" for forgiviness. It's becoming a shirk celebration.. That's why Prophet Mohammed (SAW) said "I didn't leave you ( as in companians& the umma) with anything that'll get you closer to Allah which I already showed you". Then why have we to come up with all times of newly invented things

@hbk711x Yes In the Qur'an Eesa (AS)'s birthday was celebrated. Yes the Sahaba did celebrate it is Sahih Muslim where the sahaba were holding a gathering, the Prophet asked why and they said "for blessing us with you" since I'm sure ur ignorance will not let you find an evidence I will give you an example of just how much Swaab it gives. Before the birth of the Holy Prophet (saw), his father, Hadrat Abdullah (rad) had already died, so a lady slave called Thwaiba was sent to Hadrat Aminah’s house for her help and service. Upon the birth of the Holy Prophet (saw) Thwaiba came running to Abu Lahab, the Prophet’s (saw) uncle, to give the good news of the birth of his nephew. Abu Lahab became extremely happy and raising two fingers pointed to Thwaiba saying “ I free you in thankfulness of the birth of my nephew”. That day was a Monday. When he died he came in the dream of Hadrat Abass (rad) who asked him how he was fairing in the life after death. Abu Lahab replied: “I am in the fire of hell day and night and have no escape except Monday. The punishment is reduced for me and from these two fingers of mine I receive water from which I drink (like a fountain) for I freed Thwaiba on the birth of the Holy Prophet (SAWAS). This Hadith is in the Sahih of Imam Bukhari, Kitab-ul-Nikah who quotes this from his own Shaykh, Imam Abdul Razzaq who was the student of Imam e Azaam, Abu Hanifah (ra). It is also quoted by Imam Ibn Asqalani in “Fath al bari”, Hafiz Ibn Kateer, Imam Bahaiqui, Imam Sohaili, Imam Baghawi, Imam Qurtubi, Imam Jawzi, Imam Mullah Ali Qari, and Imam Abdul Haq Muhaddith Delhvi (ra). We fast on Mondays as a way of sunnat and appreciation of the Mawlid not just on the day of 12th, that day we specially celebrate it.
@youngomniverse35
@youngomniverse35 3 года назад
@@sirploom We do not fast on mondays because of the birth of the Prophet. We fast on a Monday AND Thursday as the sunnah of the Prophet(saw) because these are the days in which deeds are carried up. The fact that we fast on the Thursdsy as well is enough proof to show that his birthday had nothing to do with it. He also stated that the fast of Dawood was the most beloved of fasting and this is three days on the middle of the month. According to ibn Hajar Asqualani and al Suyuti the mawlid was first celebrated in the 13th century. The fatwa of Ibn Hajr on Mawlid is following. «أصل عمل المولد بدعة لم تُنقَل عن أحد من السلف الصالح من القرون الثلاثة، ولكنها مع ذلك قد اشتملت على محاسن وضدها، فمَن تَحرَّى في عملها المحاسن، وتَجنَّب ضدها؛ كان بدعة حسنة، وإلا فلا. As for the origin of the practice of commemorating the Prophet’s birth, it is an innovation that has not been conveyed to us from any of the pious early Muslims of the first three centuries, despite which it has included both features that are praiseworthy and features that are not. If one takes care to include in such a commemoration only things that are praiseworthy and avoids those that are otherwise, it is a praiseworthy innovation, while if one does not, it is not. (end quote from al-Hawi lil fatawi of Jalal ud din suyuti)

@@youngomniverse35 i am not sure where your info comes from, but are you unaware that both the Thursday and the Monday are for different reasons, you using that we fast on Thursdays too as an evidence against does not work, especially since i specifically said, and i quote my message, 'We fast on Mondays as a way of sunnat and appreciation of the Mawlid...' showing i knew already that we fasted on Mondays as a Sunnah, i did not expect a response like this, but as you have delivered, i must carry on to say that the reason of the Monday fast, if you have looked at the Hadith that it comes from, specifically mentions that the Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) says that he fasts on Mondays with this being one of the reasons, that he was born on this day, if it was not a reason to be mentioned, if it was not something that had affected the reason that this is a Sunnah in the first place, then he would not have mentioned it. There was a reason behind every word that the Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) said, and you cannot just push this away when it is so important of a reason. Secondly, you just ignore the hadiths i give from the Sihah Sitta? The ones which clearly prove the Mawlid's importance, it was not mentioned in the Hadiths more because it is a silly thing to even think, almost incomprehensible, that people would try to make commemorating the great Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family)'s birthday something that was 'wrong'. Astaghfirullah. Furthermore, you ignore also the fact that Eesa (may peace be upon him)'s birthday too was celebrated, in the Qur'an. Do you not realise how silly it sounds to think that it is nice to celebrate Eesa (AS)'s birthday, but when it comes to the king of the Prophets (peace be upon them), the great, wonderful Prophet Muhammad (MAY PEACE BE UPON HIS WONDERFUL SELF AND HIS FAMILY)? I won't even start to take down the rest of it when you already have this many mistakes in your argument

@@sirploom It is clear that once again we see that the knowledge of the Sufi has apparently exceeded that of the Prophets and the Sahabah is strangely is usually the case. I beg of you to cite a single Sahabah or a single prominent Tafsir which said we celebrate the birthday of Isa(as). The books of history will show that the early Christians regarded the celebration of the birthday to be a PAGAN RITUAL. Surah Maryam is a clarification of what the Christians believe and it is a correction of the birth of Isa(as). No one ever mentioned it was the celebration of a birthday. The Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam never regularly fasted on the twelfth of Rabee' Al-Awwal, which is the date that some claim is his birthday, rather, he fasted every Monday, and there are four Mondays in every month. Therefore, celebrating the twelfth of Rabee' Al-Awwal and designating certain acts of worship for it must be considered as an attempt to correct what is thought to be wrong or less than perfect on the part of the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam. The Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam did not only fast on Mondays, but in addition, he would also fast on Thursdays, as he said: "The records of deeds are raised (to Allah) every Monday and Thursday, therefore, I like to be fasting at this time." (Tirmidhi). Moreover, the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam did not say that the reason for fasting on a Monday were due to his birth only, but also because of the fact that the records of everybody's deeds are raised to Allah on these days. Therefore, celebrating Al-Mawlid with the excuse that the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam used to fast on a Monday is a misunderstanding and a gross exaggeration of the facts. The Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam did not add any form of celebration to his fasting, as those who celebrate Al-Mawlid do. If people intend to express their gratitude to Allah by observing Al-Mawlid and they justify it with the excuse that he used to fast on Mondays, then common sense dictates that they must completely imitate the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam in the way that he expressed gratitude to Allah. Many people who celebrate Al-Mawlid do not fast regularly on Mondays and Thursdays as they deem it to be exhausting. On the contrary, they actually prepare and eat more food than usual as part of their celebration. Ibn Khalikan said in Wafiyat al-A’yan (3/274): “When it is the first of Safar they decorate those domes with various kinds of fancy adornments, and in every dome there sits a group of singers and a group of puppeteers and players of musical instruments, and they do not leave any one of those domes without setting up a group (of performers) there. The people give up work during this period, and they do no work except going around and watching the entertainment. When there are two days to go until the Mawlid, they bring out a large number of camels, cows and sheep, more than can be described, and they accompany them with all the drums, songs and musical instruments that they have, until they bring them to the square… On the night of the Mawlid there are performances of nashids after Maghrib in the citadel.” This is the origin of this celebration on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday. More recently idle entertainment, extravagance, and wasting of money and time have become associated with an innovation for which Allah has not sent down any authority. It is interesting to note that the celebration of the Mawlids of Ali and Fatima began before Milad un Nabi and the first instance of its celebration was by the Fatamid caliphs.

@@youngomniverse35 It seems plain evident that you do not know how to debate on issues, nor how to properly counter points, nor are you careful to heed the wording that I use, when attempting to counter my points, so I shall give you the proofs this time, and show you certain errors you have made. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon him and his family) was asked about the voluntary fasting on Mondays, and he replied saying, “On that day I was born, and on it the Revelation came to me.” ~Sahih Muslim (1162). Now, you tell me, and I quote your wording here "Moreover, the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam did not say that the reason for fasting on a Monday were due to his birth only, but also because of the fact that the records of everybody's deeds are raised to Allah on these days. Therefore, celebrating Al-Mawlid with the excuse that the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam used to fast on a Monday is a misunderstanding and a gross exaggeration of the facts." This is a clear misinterpretation / disinformation with the attempt to undermine the point I have made, which I quote: "...specifically mentions that the Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) says that he fasts on Mondays with this being one of the reasons, that he was born on this day, if it was not a reason to be mentioned, if it was not something that had affected the reason that this is a Sunnah in the first place, then he would not have mentioned it." Now, if you paid proper attention, you'd notice I said very specifically "with this being *one* of the reasons", do you see the understanding that is to be made here, my entire point bases itself on the idea that 'if it was not a reason to be mentioned, if it was not something that had affected the reason that this is a Sunnah in the first place,' the Prophet (Peace Be upon him and his family) mentions everything that is important. If this reason was not an important contribution (now take good notice that I use 'an' and 'a', not 'the', I am taking into account this is *one of the reasons* something which you wish to exploit when attempting to counter the point) to his reason as to why he fasts on the Monday, then he would not say it, showing the importance of his birth on it. Furthermore, will you take into account the chronology of his words, he mentions first 'On the day I was born' before something as gracious as the Revelation of the Quran, do you see how important his existence, his birth is to it, that he uses these words first. There is a clear indication of an order of prominence, something which clearly emphasises the importance his birth has on the fasting on Monday, and the importance of Mawlid overall. You carried on to state 'Therefore, celebrating Al-Mawlid with the excuse that the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam used to fast on a Monday is a misunderstanding and a gross exaggeration of the facts,' however, once more, if you look at my response, there is no mention of this being a sole reason to celebrate Mawlid, my response specifically says that this is something which aids understanding in the importance of the Mawlid (direct quote of my original response 'There was a reason behind every word that the Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) said, and you cannot just push this away when it is so important of a reason,' the main semantic theme being importance, not as you wish to say, a reason to celebrate Mawlid entirely. No 'gross exaggeration' has been made, and as we've seen before this is not 'a misunderstanding' but a part of a whole argument to evidence the permissibility. You also mention 'Many people who celebrate Al-Mawlid do not fast regularly on Mondays and Thursdays as they deem it to be exhausting. On the contrary, they actually prepare and eat more food than usual as part of their celebration.' Please tell me why you are taking 'many people' into account, this is not the topic of the conversation, nor liable evidence at all. 'Many people' is based on your interpretation, and 'deem it to be exhausting' is again an interpretation / assumption that you have made for 'Many' people when in actuality you cannot prove this, nor will any of these people who do use this reason claim that doing these regular fasts is a bad thing, a rather silly thing to attempt to use in your response. You mention 'This is the origin of this celebration on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday,' yet in your evidence, there is not one mention of it being the 'origin' as you say, but rather a description of what happens 'On the night of the Mawlid'. There is no mention of origin here, just how it is prepared on any night of the mawlid. However, this is not as important, so we will move on. 'Imam Alusi in “Ruhul Ma’ ani”, (vol.2 pg 141) interprets Surah Yunus, (10:58) by quoting a statement of Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abass (r.a.d) an expert on tafsir. He states that the word fadl in surah Yunus means ilm, knowledge, and is a reference to the Holy Qu’ran. Since this ilm came about as a result of the means of the Holy Prophet (saw) who received this Divine revelation, Hadrat Ibn Abass (r.a.d) states that the rahama Allah Almighty refers to in the ayah is the Holy Prophet (saw) himself. In conclusion he says the coming and raising of this rahma in the form of the Holy Prophet (saw) is an occasion to be celebrated. The Holy Qur’an also singles out the birthday as an important event and worthy of mention. In Surah Maryam Allah tala commands us to send salaam on the day Sayyidina Yahya was born ie his birthday. “And send salaam on him the day he was born, and the day he dies and the day he wil be raised up to life (again)” (19:15) If the celebration of bithdays is an innovation and prohibited then why would Allah Ta’ala single out the birthday of Hadhrat Yahyah (a.s)? It is to be remembered that these are the words of Allah (swt) and He is the one who is sending salaam on to His messenger and clearly signifying his birthday as a peculiar and significant day.. If Allah Almighty is ordering mankind to convey these salaams on to Sayyidina Yahya (as) how can one say it is prohibited to do the same for the Holy Prophet (saw) on his birthday who is the last and greatest of all Prophets? A birthday is significant in that a day is singled out for collective worship. One type of salaam is salaam ul-aam, a general one and the other type salaam ul qass which is sent together collectively. Although we are encouraged to send salaat and salaam on the Holy Prophet (saw) every day, having one day in particular means a collective act of worship takes place which is always superior. Indeed salaam can also be viewed as a gift from Allah to His Prophets just as we give gifts to each other on our birthdays. The same commandment has also been given in respect of Sayyinia Isa (a.s) in Surah Maryam “And send salaam on me the day I was born and the day I died and the day I shall be rasied alive” (19:33) joiced by all. Imam Alusi then gives many other authorities who quote this same tafsir of Hadrat ibn Abass, including Imam Katir Baghdadi and Ibn Sakir, all whom say rahma is the Holy Prophet (saw) Imam Jalaludin Suyuti in “Adurul Mansur fil Tafseer” (vol. 4 pg. 330) also quotes Hadrat ibn Abass and says fadl is ilm, referring to the Holy Qur’an and rahma is the Holy Prophet (saw). Imam Abi Hayan Andulusi in “Tafseer ul Bahrul Muheet” (vol. 5 pg. 171), a great scholar of the 7th and 8th century states the same tafseer of Hadrat ibn Abass (r.a.d) through his famous student Tabil as does Imam Bahaiqui. Imam ibn Jawzi in “Zadul Maseer” (vol.4 pg. 40) gives various meanings for these two words and implications. He states that although they have different meanings we need to see what it refers to in the context of this verse when Allah has asked us to rejoice. He again gives the same reference of the tafsir of ibn Abass. Imam Tabrasi, a great Imam of tafseer from the 6th Century in “Majamual Bayan” (vol. 5 pg. 177-178) gives an explanation of this ayah. He comments that in reality Allah is stating to His Prophet (saw) that tell those who rejoice of things of the dunya, if they want to rejoice something then they should rejoice in Allah’s fadl and rahma, that has been bestowed and sent upon them. He says there are two things to be celebrated, the revelation of the Holy Qur’an which is Allah’s fadl and the raising of the Holy Prophet (saw) who is the raama. He also quotes Qutada and Mujahid students of Hadrat ibn Abass (r.a.d) as well Imam Bakr who all state the same.' I will stop replying if you continue with this level of ignorance

Probably they are like Iblees (May Allah Curse be upon him) who cried out loud with sadness when the Light of Victory and leader of all beings was born. Yes, Sheikh is correct, not only on 12th of Rabi'ul Awwal... Everyday and every moment of our life we have to cherish the birth and life of our beloved Leader Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

How did sahabah celebrate mawlid? Prove it or shut your mouth. Do u mean to say, sahaba didn't understand surah Maryam. Who will decide that particular bid'ah is hasana. No two persons will agree. Only prescribed act which is related to prophets birthday, is fasting on Mondays. Abbas saw the dream and u understood it!

My scholar will say this, if you don't want to celebrate it then let it be. Let other people that want to celebrate be happy to celebrate Mawlid. How can you don't celebrate Rasulullah? He's the greatest man on earth, the only human on earth when he's just a baby sujud to Allah. Like Prophet Isa he praised himself for his birth but Prophet Muhammad praised by Allah for his birthday. You can search for Mawlid celebrated in Tareem Hadramaut, Yemen. The only place in the earth right now that didn't have covid issues. They celebrate Mawlid everyday in the month of Rabiul Awwal. The blessed place, everyone there celebrating it. There like the only normal place right now while we all dealing with covid situations. Allah blessed them because of their love towards Prophet Muhammad.

The Status of the Mawlid from the Shafii (non-Wahabi) School of Jurisprudence. Imam Abu al-Fadhl ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad Jalal ad-Din as-Suyuthi (q.s.) wrote, in Husn al-Maqswad fi Amal al-Mawlid, “The celebration of the Mawlid entails gathering with the people, reading a portion of the Qur’an, citing the narrations about the prophetic precursors to the Prophet’s (s.a.w.) mission and the wondrous signs that took place during his birth, and then eating a bit of food and leaving. As I see it, this practice is a GOOD INNOVATION / BID'AH HASANA that merits Reward. This is because it is an exaltation of the Prophet’s (s.a.w.) rank and a display of delight and happiness with his noble birth.”

The Celebration of Mawlid in Light of the Shafi’i School The present era has seen several works authored for and against the celebration of the birth of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). In short, those opposed to this celebration are either adherents of one of the four major schools [mutamadhhibin] or non-adherents [present day salafiyyah]. The primary contention of both parties is that the celebration is an action that both the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) and his companions did not practice. In response to this contention, several scholars authored rejoinders. Some dedicated independent writings to the subject, while others addressed it in larger works. A different approach is required to respond to each of these parties. The works of the scholars from the past suffice as a response to the non-adherents of the madhahib. In brief, their arguments may be condensed as follows: 1. The Prophet’s (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) non-performance does not indicate impermissibility [at-tark la yaqtadi at-tahrim]. The agreed-upon hadith of Khalid ibn Walid eating a lizard after the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) abstained serves as ample proof to establish this point. 2. Not all innovation is necessarily misguidance. Consequently, scholars divided innovation into two: good and bad. Past luminaries who explicitly held to the bifurcation of innovation include amongst many: al-Imam Muhammad ibn Idris ash-Shafi’i, al-Imam al-Bayhaqi, al-Imam an-Nawawi, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, and Imam al-Suyuti. 3. Within the sunnah, there exists certain narrations that create the impression that the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) actually celebrated his own birthday. Imam Muslim narrates that the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) was asked regarding the fasting of Monday, to which he replied, “That is the day on which I was born.” 4. Other reports suggest that the companions rejoiced and sang poetry regarding the birth of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). The Prophet’s uncle, Abbas ibn AbdilMuttalib, composed poetry commemorating the birth of the Prophet (sallaAllahu alayhi wasallam) and then sought permission to recite. The Prophet not only permitted it, but prayed for his uncle asking Allah to protect his mouth. Then, Abbas (radiyaAllahu anhu) recited what was possibly the first mawlid ever, “And when you were born (O Prophet) the earth shone bright and the horizon was radiant.” 5. Legal analogy. This point’s chief proponent is the great scholar and hafidh, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani. He noted that when the Messenger (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) arrived in Madinah, he found the Jews fasting on the 10th of Muharram and enquired as to why they were fasting. They replied that it was the day on which Allah saved Musa and drowned the Pharaoh; and therefore, they fasted in thanks and gratitude to Allah. The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) then stated, “I am more entitled to Musa than you,” and accordingly fasted while instructing the companions to also fast. Ibn Hajar argues that in this report, lies sound evidence to celebrate and show gratitude for a favour that Allah has bestowed on any particular day. Now, in response to the adherents of the madhahib, the central consideration is what a particular madhab has to say regarding the issue (i.e. the permissibility of mawlid). This is established in Shaf’i fiqh, and therefore, should be dealt with accordingly. The jurists’ first approach to any fiqh issue is one of naql. Only in the absence of naql does one move to the investigation of nusus (the texts of Quran and Sunnah) or reason. An opinion within our School does exist, and therefore obviates the need for an investigation of nusus. Opening the door to change the position of the madhhab on this mas’alah would allow others to do the same for other masa’il. A perfunctory survey is given below of scholars in the Shafi’i School who held that the mawlid is recommended: 1. al-Imam an-Nawawi’s shaykh, head of the famous Syrian school, Dar al-Hadith al-Ashrafiyyah, the great Shafi`i jurist and traditionist, Abdur Rahman ibn Ismail, well-known as Abu Shamah. He states in his Risalah, “And among the best innovated actions in these times are those actions that take place every year coinciding with the birth of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) such as charity, good deeds, personal beautification, joy, and so forth, as they speak of love and reverence for the beloved Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallm)…” 2. Hafiz ibn Hajar al-Asqalani’s shaykh, Sirajud Din Umar ibn Raslan ash-Shafi`i. In al-Mawaz wal Iitibar, Al-Miqrizi mentioned that Shaykh al-Bulqini, his sons, and the judges of the four madhahib of his time, would all attend the mawlid of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). 3. The renowned commentator of al-Imam al-Bukhari’s Sahih, Hafidh al-Dunya, Allamah Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani. In addition to the above, his student al-Imam as-Suyuti related that he opined that if the mawlid only consists of good actions, then it will be considered a good innovation. 4. Al-Imam as-Suyuti authored an entire treatise on the recommendation of the mawlid celebration. 5. In his Fatawa, Al-Hafiz as-Sakhawi mentions that even though the mawlid was not practiced by our pious predecessors, it still holds great virtue. As-Sakhawi also authored a mawlid. 6. Al-Imam al-Qastalani asks Allah in his al-Mawahib al-Laduniyyah to shower His mercy upon the people who celebrate the birth of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). 7. Allamah Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, who’s views represent the opinion from which fatwa is given in the Shafi`i school, approves of the mawlid in his al-Fatawa al-Fiqhiyyah al-Kubra. To date, I have not seen any of the School’s classical jurists condemning the practice. Thus, the Shafi’i School’s official view is that the celebration of his (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) birthday is not just permissible, but recommended. Accordingly, the modern Shafi’i scholars who have recommended this celebration include: the former Shaykh of al-Azhar University Hasanayn Makhluf, Dr. Muhammad Sa’id Ramadan al-Buti, Egypt’s official mufti Dr. Ali Jumuah, and the great scholar and spiritual guide, sayyidi al-Habib Umar ibn Hafidh, amongst many others. In some parts of the Muslim world, the mawlid practiced is not specific to the month of Rabiul Awwal. Such is observed by the Ba’Alawi family and tariqah. Their mawlid, which in essence is the Prophetic biography composed into poetry, is celebrated on a weekly basis, generally on a Thursday evening, throughout the year. The major aim behind the reading is to familiarise the public concerning the events that took place in the Prophet’s (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) life, thus instilling in the hearts love for Allah’s greatest beloved (al-Habib al-’Aazam), Muhammad ibn Abdillah (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). The aim of this paper is not to change the views of those who oppose the mawlid, but rather to create an environment of tolerance where individuals, both for and against it, can appreciate the stances of one another. The fact that al-Imam ash-Shafi`i differed with his teacher, al-Imam Malik, did not mean that he, ash-Shafi`i, became hostile towards him. Let not a mas’alah mukhtalaf fihi be the cause of engaging in activity - such as speaking ill, backbiting, and so forth - these are haram by consensus.

@@YourName-rt2cu Yes In the Qur'an Eesa (AS)'s birthday was celebrated. @@Saad-ul6py “Is there any indication from the Sahaba that celebrating the birth of the Messenger of God (Allah bless him and grant him peace) is a bad thing ? Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him): A group of the Sahaba of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was sitting together and the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) came and approached them and he heard them talking to each other. Some of them said that Allah subhanahu wa ta’la took Ibrahim (Alayhissalam) as His friend, and others said that Allah subhanahu wa ta’la took Musa (Alayhissalam) as His kaleem [the one who spoke directly with Allah], and others said Allah subhanahu wa ta’la took ‘Isa (Alayhissalam) as a word of Allah, and others said that Allah subhanahu wa ta’la chose Adam (Alayhissalam). The Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said to them, ‘I heard your conversation and you are wondering at Ibrahim (Alayhissalam) being the friend of Allah, and it is true, and Musa (Alayhissalam) being Najeeullah [the saved one of Allah], and ‘Isa (Alayhissalam) being Rawhullah, and it is true, and Adam (Alayhissalam) being chosen by Allah and it is true, but, I am the Beloved of Allah and I say it without pride [Habeebullah wa laa fakhr], and I am the bearer of the flag of praise on the judgment day, and Adam (Alayhissalam) and everyone descended from him are under my flag on judgment day and I say it without pride. I am the first intercessor and the first to intercede on the judgment day and I say it without pride. And I am the first to move the handles of the door of paradise and Allah will open paradise for me and I am the first to enter it and with me will be the poor and humble of the believers, and I say it without pride, and I am the first to be honoured among the first and last of creation and I say it without pride.” [Tirmidhi Sharif: Kitabul-Munaqib, (Book of Merits) Chapter Babun Fi Fazaldh-un-Nabi, (The Merit of the Prophet - Peace & Blessings be upon him). Also transmitted by Imam Darimi, Hafiz ibn Kathir, Imam Suyuti and others] The ones that doubt should understand, the true gathering of Mawlid-un-Nabi is precisely to sit in the Masjid and do dhikr (speeches) of the beloved Sayyidina Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), in the same way that the Sahaba were also doing the dhikr of the Prophets (Allah be pleased with them all). n a Hadith narrated by Abu Qatada Ansari (rad), Allah’s Messenger ﷺ was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: ‘It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me.’ (Muslim, Book 6, No. 2606). It is clear from this Hadith that the Prophet ﷺ fasted on the day of his birth out of gratitude. Fasting is a form of worship, so one can fast or hold gatherings or provide food to the poor, all being acts of worship. The Prophet ﷺ himself celebrated his birth. In a Hadith narrated by Hadrat Anas (RA), in the Sunan of Imam Bayhaqi, (v.9 p.300 no. 43), states that the Prophet ﷺ sacrificed some animals and performed an aqiqa for himself after the announcement of his Prophethood. Imam Suyuti states that this was not an aqiqa done in the traditional sense since his grandfather had already performed it. It is not possible to repeat an act of Shari’ah once it is already done. Imam Suyuti states that the reason for the sacrifice of the animals was an act of thankfulness and a celebration done by the Prophet ﷺ for his birth. Imam Suyuti concludes that it is mustahab (advisable) for us to celebrate the mawlid in ijtima (collectively) since the Prophet ﷺ sacrificed animals and distributed the food and thus we too should have a gathering and distribute food and rejoice in a good man-ner (‘Husn Maqsid fî `Amal-il mawlid by Imâm Jalâl ad-Dîn Suyûtî, pp. 64-6). Imam Al Suyuti, from Alhawi lil fatawi, wrote a chapter entitled ‘The Good Intention in Commemorating the Mawlid’ in which he said, ‘To commemorate the Mawlid, which is basically gathering people together, reciting parts of the Qu’ran, narrating stories about the Prophet’s birth and the signs that accompanied it, then serving food, and afterwards, departing, is one of the good innovations; and the one who practices it gets rewarded, because it involves venerating the status of the Prophet and expressing joy for his honorable birth.’ Further to this Allama Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyyah, a renowned student of Imam Ibn Taymiyya, writes, in Madarij as-Salikin.‘Listening to a good voice celebrating the birthday of the Prophetﷺ or celebrating any of the holy days in our history gives peace to the heart, and gives the listener light from the Prophetﷺ to his heart, and he will drink more from the Muhammadan spring’ "People of Haramain Shareefain (Makkah and Madinah) and Egypt and Yemen and Syria and of the eastern and western cities of Arabia hold functions in celebration of the birth of the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi wa Sallam), rejoice at the sighting of the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon, bathe and put on their best dresses adorn themselves in various ways, put on scent, and give alms with great joy, and exert themselves in listening to the Meelaad of the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi wa Sallam). By doing so, they themselves attain to success, as it has been proved that by celebrating the Meelaad of the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi wa Sallam) much good accrues the whole year round: security and comfort, greater means of livelihood, increase in children and in wealth, peace in cities and contentment and peace in homes")(Addurrul Munazzam, page. 100, 101.) "Mawanhibul Ladunniyah" and the translation is also called the "Seerat Muhammadiyah (Life of Muhammad, Sallal Laahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)". This book by Imaam Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Aby Bakr Khateeb Qastalaani (may AlLaah have mercy on him) is 500 years old On page 75 of his book, Imaam Qastalaani says: "May Al-Laah bless a person who celebrates Eid on the nights of the blessed month of the holy birth of the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi wa Sallam) LOOK ITS CLEAR THAT CELEBERATINF MAWLID IS NOT ONLY PERMESSIABLE BUT RECOMMENDED. For me Mawlid alnaabi is special, in what? Not just that it raises and reminds those who don’t do it more often about our beautiful prophet pbuh, to relate his life and his teachings, spread his mssg from family member to family member, Muslim to Muslim. More smiles are around, gatherings of love between people. A good reminder. I do not see harm in that, i see only good. Of course unless ur going the wrong way and treating it like an act of worship, which I do not think anyone is, and Allah guide them if they do. But I don’t believe it is Bidda and I agree with many here who say look at who r the ones arguing and fighting this, if u know anything of our wonderful peaceful prophet pbuh, then I gather I r wise enough to know that their arrogance, criticism, anger only divides our ummah. I hope we all find peace in our hearts and spread good words and teachings of our prophet pbuh, may allah guide us all and protect us from anger and division 🌷

In other words, we shouldn't prescribe ourselves a day where we particularly to certain acts of worship, then it becomes a new tradition brought into the religion.. which leads to misguidance.

The Qur’an also singles out the birthday as an important event and worthy of mention. As one example, Allah commands us to send salaam on the day Prophet Yahya (as) was born i.e. his birthday. ‘And send salaam on him the day he was born, and the day he dies and the day he will be raised up to life (again).’ (Q.19:15) If the celebration of birthdays is an innovation and is prohibited then why would Allah single out the birthday of Prophet Yahya (as)? If Allah is ordering mankind to convey greetings to Prophet Yahya (as) then how can one say it is prohibited to do the same for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on his birthday, who is the last and greatest of all Prophets?

You know Tahajjut is sunnah, One of the man of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) age got glad tidings of jannah for his simple act that he used to keep no grudge towards people, He even did not offer tahajjut salah, just five time salah and other dhikir he used to do.

So, in reality it is clear that it is a later innovation(Bid'ah), but in the same time it is a obligation(Fard), this does not correspond with the teachings of Islam according to the Qur'an and the Sunnah. That we remember the day that he was born by the Sirah of the Prophet Muhammad( Peace and Blessings be on him) that's the same that we remenber also the day that he died, it belongs to the teachings of his life(Sirah) through every day of the year. But this must not be a celebration only on one particular day in the year. This is no good innovation(Bid'ah Hasanah) but a bad one. And the Prophet( Peace and blessings be on him) had said: "Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours that is not a part of it will have it rejected", and: “Every bid’ah is a misguidance and every misguidance is in Hell-fire”.

The truth is nobody really knows if it's acceptable or not. The extremists on one side are purely dogmatic and reject it and the other side justify the day as important and acceptable. But no one knows if Allah swt and The Prophet saws really do reject reject this practice from the people. Venerating the Prophet is an act of love on one side but an act of innovation on the other side. I would say its better to not celebrate the birthday of the Prophet saws as he made of strong point in ensuring people did not fall into the same trap as was the deification of Jesus. Part of that is celebrating his birth at Christmas. On the whole it is best to reject the practice altogether.

Shaykh Qardawi Approves of Celebrating Mawlid "Actually, celebrating the Prophet's birthday means celebrating the birth of Islam..." -- Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qardawi Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, likely the most renowned Salafi scholar of the 20th century, in replying to the question on whether Mawlid should be celebrated replied: We all know that the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not celebrate the Prophet's birthday, Hijrah or the Battle of Badr, because they witnessed such events during the lifetime of the Prophet who always remained in their hearts and minds. Sa`d Ibn Abi Waqqaas said that they were keen on telling their children the stories of the Prophet's battles just as they were keen on teaching them the Qur'an. Therefore, they used to remind their children of what happened during the Prophet's lifetime so they did not need to hold such celebrations. However, the following generations began to forget such a glorious history and its significance. So such celebrations were held as a means of reviving great events and the values that we can learn from them. p Unfortunately, such celebrations include some innovations when they should actually be made to remind people of the Prophet's life and his call. Actually, celebrating the Prophet's birthday means celebrating the birth of Islam. Such an occasion is meant to remind people of how the Prophet lived. Allah Almighty says: "Verily in the Messenger of Allah ye have a good example for him who looketh unto Allah and the last Day, and remembereth Allah much." (Al-Ahzab: 21) By celebrating the Prophet's Hijrah, we should teach them values such as sacrifice, the sacrifice of the Companions, the sacrifice of `Ali who slept in the Prophet's place on the night of the Hijrah, the sacrifice of Asmaa' as she ascended the Mountain of Thawr. We should teach them to plan the way the Prophet planned for his Hijrah, and how to trust in Allah as the Prophet did when Abu Bakr told him: "We could be seen so easily, the Prophet replied saying: "O Abu Bakr! What do you think of two when Allah is their third?" "Have no fear, for Allah is with us." (At-Tawbah: 40) We need all these lessons and such celebrations are a revival of these lessons and values. I think that these celebrations, if done in the proper way, will serve a great purpose, getting Muslims closer to the teachings of Islam and to the Prophet's Sunnah and life. As for celebrating `Ashooraa', the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, celebrated this day by fasting only. He asked the Jews why they fasted on that day and they told him that it was the day that Allah saved Moses and the people of Israel. The Prophet replied saying: "We have more of a right to Moses than you." So he fasted on that day and ordered the people to fast on that day. He also said near the end of his life: "By Allah, if I lived longer I would fast on the 9th of Muharram." That is, that he would fast on the 9th and the 10th in order to be different from the Jews who fast on the 10th only. However, some of the Sunnis celebrate `Ashura as if it were a feast. The Shi`ah consider it a day of sadness and mourning, but all such things are innovations and are completely un-Islamic. As for the second part of the question [what is exact birth date of the Prophet (s)], the exact date of the Prophet's birth is disputed , but it is most likely to be on Monday, 9th Rabee`Al-Awwal (20th or 22nd of April, 571 AC), the same year in which the invasion of the Elephants took place against the Ka`bah. And he, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away on Monday 12, Rabee` Al-Awwal in the eleventh year of Hijrah (8 June 632 AC.) Allah Almighty knows best. [Source: Mufti Islam Online Fatwa Committee Date: Date 19/Apr/2001: Fatwa ID: 34150] May Allah bless Shaykh Al-Qardawi for asserting the truth!

Did you actually listen to this lecture at all??!! The only bid'ah that is haram are those that are explicitly against the deen. Eg if I add 2 rakat to my fajr fardh and state I'm doing it for more ibadah. THAT is a bad bid'ah despite intentions. Commemorating the life events of the Prophet peace be upon him isn't a bad bid'ah as every event of the Prophet peace be upon him is to be celebrated and there is benefit in it. Reducing everything to an explicit affirmation in the Qur'an and Sunnah is the way of the Khawarij. Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani and ibn Kathir both also celebrated it and stated it's blessing. If the most detested kafir mentioned by name in the Qur'an (Abu Lahab) gets respite on the BIRTHDAY of the Prophet peace be upon him EVERY WEEK on Monday! Simply from being happy at the birth of the Prophet peace be upon him. As a kafir, with no intention to honour the Prophet peace be upon him and please Allah then what of the believers who love the Prophet peace be upon him? If ones birth is insignificant why did the Prophet peace be upon him commemorate his aqiqah again after nabuwat? And all events of the prophet's prefer be upon him's life are to be commemorated. He said in the Quran Surah Maryam the birthday is celebrated but it does not give the exact time and day and birth. It also gives the story of how prophet Isa (pbuh) mother Maryam was not accepted by her people and after Jesus gave his first speech to pronounce the pureness of his mother. We are in diffcult times and our so called Islamic text interprets are not feeling sensitive about information being given to the general public. Mawlid was not celebrated in the prophets time. There is no Mawlid in time of prophet Ibrahim, Moses or Jesus. No importance of it in the Quran either. We all celebrate the birth of our beloved Prophet peace be upon him. But birth is one thing and birthday is another thing. Why birthday? Let's praise and read poems on all days? Why choose one day. If you want to choose a day or days why not do it on Ramadan or 10 days of Dil Hijjah. Won't we get multiple rewards for any good acts done on these days?

If anyone said we dont do and learn bid'ah, then why people use tajweed to read quran? Tajweed is not in quran, tajweed didn't taught in hadith too, much less atthar (the companions sunnah), then why are they still learning tajweed? Back to quran and sunnah, i say!

I'm a truth seeker. I come back to Islam by learning religions for 2 years. I found Hamza Yusuf months ago and fell in love with his lecture. But, if the Islam he follows doesnt refer to Quran and Sunnah fully, then I'm ready to stop listening to him #tears until he does taubah and change his mind.

That is a false notion given by some ignorant. Hamza indeed follows Quran and Sunnah

Actually he explains the issue according to understaning of salaf as saliheen in the way how they define bidah which There are two types of bidah. So What Hamza Yusuf says here is totally accurate. There is nothing wrong with mawlid based on the definition of bidah according to 4 madhabs.

‏ And in the mawlid there is Quran, zikr, khotbah. And Ijma-a Al Ummah accepted it so it is loved.

Celebrating Mawlid is merely imitating the Christian’s Christmas. If celebrating the Prophet’s birthday was virtuous the companions would have done it. The Prophet said in authentic Hadith "Don’t laud and commend me the way Christians lauded and commended the Son of Mary for I am only the slave of Allah, so say about me the Slave of Allah and his Messenger” (Bukhari). Mawlid is in fact celebrating the Prophet like the Christians did Jesus. The Prophet (SAW) didn’t like special mention except in conjunction with mention of Allah. This is why we were enjoined by Allah in the Quran and by the Prophet in Hadith to send prayers and blessings on him, not praise. We must guard our Tawheed and resist the human impulse to worship personalities. The Prophet after all said that shirk initially started innocently by people celebrating the memory of their dead noblemen and overtime that celebration turned to worship. We love the Prophet and we demonstrate our love for him by following his Sunnah stubbornly and by sending prayers and blessings upon him often, not singing, dancing and eulogizing him in excess.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf started his islamic education from As-Sufi. Later on he disassociated him from As Sufi and moved toward more authentic tradition of Islam. It might be the case that this video is from Hamza Yusuf's earlier years and that now he no longer have such a view.

If there was goodness in celebrating the birthday of the prophet pbuh the prophet pbuh would have told us about this goodness and the sahaba would surely would have not missed this goodness Do we have knowledge of goodness more than the prophet pbuh Clearly it was later innovation and should not be done in any way no matter anyone gives any opinion

1. SHAR'IAH - "EVERY INNOVATION" is a "MISGUIDANCE = DHWALAALAH", and "EVERY MISGUIDANCE" is in "HELL", ISLAM is complete and doesn't require any changes "neither TABHIL nor TAHDHIR ... or whatever" 2. LINGUISTICALLY - innovation is either good "HASANAH" or bad "SAYY'IAH NB: NO ROOM FOR INNOVATION(s) IN ISLAM

+abrar qazi salam aleikom Abrar. I also disagree with mawlid . People folllow christians and others and call it Islam. I used to be sad about Muslims who are being attacked in the world , but I reallized most Muslims follow nationalism(another religion) and Muhammad said whoever follows nationalism is not among my ummah. Iqra was the first surah to be revealed to Muhammad(puh) but look around and find one serious person who has the desire to learn physics in any university in the UAE instead of going to Europe or the USA . If you can teach Muslims then do so if they come across like cattle then leave them alone and instead take care of the animals because we will be rewarded equally . I once visited Morocco and found a bird who was wooned by a shot . people don't follow the way of Muhammad (puh) if they did they would have know that using animals as practice is an evil thing to do. My intention was to save the bird so I googled veterinarian in Morocco and guess what? Very few and very far from the city Nador (northern Morocco) . They don't even have proper hospitals let alone act as responsible vicegerents on earth . So talking about mawlid or visiting dead people for blessings wil not change anything . We only share because it is an oblogation but to be honest do I expect things to to change soon? Maybe the pigs will fly sooner than expecting anything from these people .

Actually Imam Buhari (rahimahullah), by mentioning the dream of Hajrat Abbas (May Allaah be pleased with him), in his Saheeh, indicated to celebrate Eid Miladunnabi. اللهم صل على سيدنا محمد عبدك ورسولك وصل على المؤمنين والمؤمنات والمسلمين والمسلمات

"And historically it was celebrated with great ..." The guy has no shame of lying wallahi The whole celebration of mawlud started with Muzaffar al-Din Gokburi in erbil Iraq 1207. And who was he? An Imam like Imam Ahmad or Abu hanifa? A great Hadith or jurisprudence scholar? NO!! The guy was a ruler, a general Who started a bidaa and that's it. كل بدعه ضلاله!!! Any type of innovation in religion is misguidance.
