Air is the element of freedom. Water is the element of change. Aang brought freedom to the four nations, and Korra changed the world more than anyone since Wan.
@@rhian6459 read the Shadow of Kyoshi novel. He was never a go with the flow Avatar. He just said that to protect Yangchen's legacy. He protected the world from dark spirits. But he let no one know. Not even his own team Avatar knew.
This franchise was the first book/movie/tv show to make me cry. To this day, I've only cried during the ATLA finale, Service and Sacrifice (I fucking lost it when Tenzin took off Jinora's hood) scene, and the TLOK finale. Hell, I didn't even get misty eyed when Iron Man died in Endgame! So the fact that just listening to "Peace" or "The Legend of Korra" (final scene, final song) can make me cry on command should be a testimony to how great this universe and its characters are.
@@levikim3920 As someone who ONLY listens to film/television score, I can testify that the OST for Avatar and especially Korra is the most underrated original television soundtrack of this century and by far the best OST to ever grace western animation. It's just fucking brilliant.
+Bobby Manhas The same for me. It was so deep when it comes to mental health and stability in general. And it still is helping me move on more and more. I just think of what Korra overcame and know I can overcome as well.
Same here, I almost cried when Korra removed the poison from herself. She paralleled everything I was going through at the time. She gives me strength.
Well said.your quote has very deepest wisdom maybe not many people understand that but I gone through many many times,in fact we all do but the question is do we really understand the quote actual meaning. Thank you 🙏 so much for sharing.Sending much love 💗
It's fascinating to look how Zuckerman developed as a composer. I mean... When he was composing for ATLA he was good. No doubt about it. But when it came to TLOK, he was one of the best composers on TV. Period.
+PickaHand I remember seeing a bit in one of the extras or previews somewhere that Zuckerman was told that he needed to set an Asian culture in the American 20's and basically had to invent a new genre of music all by himself for the city bits as well as provide an exceptional regular score. Fucker did both.
IKR!!! He did a phenomenal job. ATLA was crisp, clean. TLOK was rugged and unrefined, but contained finer moments. Not only did he fit the East-meets-West culture and time, but matched Aang and Korra's personalities, in just about every piece.
David Contos Korra's a warrior inside and out. She's a survivor inside and out. She is brave inside and out. Korra has taught me so much, that being strong is possible👍🏾💙👍🏾
I saw the finale of Korra when it first aired, but it only occurred to me after listening to this again just now how poetic it is that Korra, a character who began her journey completely oblivious to spiritual affairs, became so powerful she could literally bend spirit energy and created the first new spirit portal since the beginning of Avatar's world.
Plan Ahea ikr I think people only chose to ignore her character development and pay attention to how hard headed she was but honestly that’s what I liked about her character I could relate to it and even though she was hard headed at times her character development was plotted excellently
@Donald Hariot I can somewhat agree with that; however (this is mostly my opinion), good "kid shows" are a bit hard to come by. And the same thing applies to some mainstream shows since I feel most shows nowadays are a bit bland when it comes to writing... like: "this villain has a predictable character arch and the storyline is extremely bland and basic", which sums up most Netflix series and movies for the most part. Like I said though, this is my opinion, and I probably feel this way to most shows because I grew up with shows and movies that have in-depth world building or character archs n' all. And I'm sure there's good shows/films out there as well, they're just not as popular as mainstream ones.
I feel like most people don't give Korra enough credit: Learning energybending from Aang, which is a skill that hasn't been lost since her connections were destroyed, and restored all the bending of those affected by Amon Survived after having Raava ripped out of her, defeating unalaq and restoring the Avatar Cycle While also restoring the connections between humankind and spirits Restoring the Air nation, and surviving poisoning of a ridiculous quantity And lastly, overcoming her past and her fears to stop Kuvira, while also saving her and opening a spirit portal Korra was an amazing Avatar, what Tenzin said at the end of the animated series was true, she changed the world more then Avatars did during their lifetime. EDIT: Thanks for the likes! Im honored to have a lot on one the greatest OST videos out there ❤️
she never learned energy bending from aang. She always had the skill ever since she was a little girl. Thats why we saw her bend all three elements at such a young age. bending is energy that flows in your body as you bend the elements within yourslef
Jahaira Cedeno She never displayed use of energy bending before Aang connected to her avatar spririt. The reason why she could bend 3 elements at a young age, which is not only impressive but only because she excelled in the physical side of bending, rather then spiritual. If she knew how to energybend all along, why didn't she use it sooner against Amon?
Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra are so different. They really did an amazing job of taking basically the same story structure (Avatar must train and save the world) and really made it completely different. I wish this series would continue. Easily one of the best fantasy worlds of my generation. And that's saying something for a fucking Nick cartoon during the same time period as Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings haha
-Lord of the Rings- Because it is bigger, better and much deeper than Avatar. The rest is fine in comparison ;) The Universe of Tolkien is just outstanding in complexity and greatness. Never ever compare it to small scaled stories like Avatar, Harry Potter and everything else nowadays. But yeah. It's an amazing story. I liked it too.
The best avatars Aang: the one who ended the 100 year war Korra: the one who vanquished vatu the spirit of darkness And wan: the first Avatar the one who made it all possible.
@SHEILA WANJIRU I was being sarcastic by how toxic is the ATLA community against LOK when actually she as avatar is canonically one of the best avatars, have a develop similar to zuko and season 1, 2 and 3 are really good
ATLA got me through my childhood. LoK got me through my teenage/young adult years. I dont think I'd be the person I am today if it weren't for these shows.
I can't even describe the feelings when I hear this song. I treat both ATLA and LOK as probably the most meaningful piece of art I've ever experienced.
Thanks to this TV show, I now look at the future with an open mind. From this simple TV show, I learnt how to look at situations from different perspectives. I learnt that people change over time. I learnt to help someone and not defeat them. I learnt the importance of acceptance and peace. I learnt that I should look for the light in the dark. I learnt how to feel strong and self confident. I learnt how to be a better person, from a simple TV show. ATLA and LoK will always have a special place in my heart.
just remembered this show today and started to cry I remembered how much I loved these shows and remembered that it's over and then I heard this soundtrack again and I cried! I'm rewatching these masterpieces again !!!!
Korra reminded me that not everything happens the way we'd like it to - history doesn't always unfold in the way others wanted it to be. It was sad to see the original gang all old or past away - but then again thats the reality of life. And the story keeps continuing. Deep down I don't think the past lives of the Avatar are truly destroyed - they're just dormant. It was the connection that was destroyed - not the actual past avatar's spirits. Perhaps the next Avatar will re-connect themselves with them.
My thoughts exactly! I came up with a theory like that a while back because I felt like the "destruction" of the previous Avatars was too extreme so what if they were reduced to a shell of their former selves and the next Avatar has to find a way to reconnect with them in order to unlock their true potential.
@@boefje_0733 yea. in the comics aang had a necklace. when he broke it, he lost his connection to his past lives; in the end, korra had the same necklace; this means something but we probably wont get a continuation of tlok but probably a earth bender
@@azulaeatingmochime2353 seriously, "hardcore" fans of LoK just wanted an ATLA 2.0, but LoK is about KORRA's story, not Aang's. the central theme of LoK is embracing change, something many seem to overlook, it's sad really. I don't think any sequel ever lives up to the original series because of the emotional attachment to the original series, but LoK was still a pretty damn good show which covered LGBT representation and deeper issues as well, even if some of the writing was poor but that's to be blamed on Nickolodean, not the writers. But this comment section is the most positive towards LoK that I've seen so far, I wish people's appreciation of it went beyond the soundtracks
@@azulaeatingmochime2353 don't forget about the whining over how "westernized" their world has become for modernizing like bish they discovered metal bending which is a game changer for their advancement in technology do you still expect them to live in wooden/stone structures 😭😭
When I heard this on Jeremy Zuckermans SoundCloud I screamed this piece is so beatiful nickelodeon needs to release all of the soundtracks it's not fair for Jeremy and us
I love how this music is shown several times in Book 4. First, it appears in Korra Alone, when a spirit leads Korra to the Spirit Woods and Toph. Then, when Toph helps Korra get rid of her remaining poison. Next, when Korra allows Zaheer to lead her into the Spirit World, and finally, when she saves Kuvira by spliting the spirit beam, and later confronts her. It's also notable that it gets progressively longer each time. It's as if it shows her progressive psycological recovery, and the steps she takes for it. Finding a mentor, releasing her fear, confronting her former enemy, and helping her new enemy. It's the little things, ladies and gentlemen, that make this series so great.
I definitely feel like the music itself also supports that. The early track is very heroic but sad and still bombastic but it slows down and gets really hopeful and bright and then slowly comes back down. Right near the end it gets almost sad again but then it gives you this beautiful harmonic chord and the track picks up again and ends light and bright but still melancholic hand retrospective. I love this music so much
Whenever I listen to either soundtracks I wanna cry. Especially seeing both of them together in this picture makes me emotional. This entire series just gets me in my feelings. I can't really explain why tho lol.
KayKay 916 Same, bro, same. Always... I'm actually not the emotional guy, but when it comes to Avatar... damn i'm in love with this show since it began :)
even tho that both of the Avatar shows are years upon years old it makes me tear up seeing that us, the Avatar community is still so passionate and alive :')
This soundtrack is by far my favorite. I can feel all the emotions and all the power, when it blows me away at 0:16. No other cartoon/anime or whatever you want to call it, has such intense masterpieces of music. Even Naruto is not on the same level. Loved the scenes between Korra and Zaheer, as much as the ones with Toph so much. To me, LoK will always be my favorite show of all time
I totally agree with you! I don't think that there will ever be a better show on TV combining so much things like beeing funny with much action in it,too. On the other hand also beeing very wisely and peaceful at the same time! To me the most impressive and amazing person is Iroh (his quotes are unique) ! He totally changed his mind ...like Zuko did aswell... and Aang contradicting all his past Avatars to fight the firelord without killing him. At least even the music is definitely one of the most amazing soundtracks I have ever heard and I kind of listened to this track like 1000 times or more! Such a pity that it had to end now :(
+Domi_nique That's absolutely true! I think the whole masterpiece of "Avatar" is unfortunately such an underrated one! :( Yes I know and I got some of them! :D But I didn't know that there will be some about Korra, too *.* I hope they will be available in Germany (soon) ! :)
+Domi_nique Yes me too! :D And I like the whole butterfly effect thing ... to me that's such an fascinating thing! :O I hope Dontnod and Square Enix are already working on another one! :) I wonder how many things they had to consider while creating Lis.... I mean all the things that change if you safe Kate... Wanna have more games like this in future! Do you know Until dawn as well?
Haha cool thing! So they definitively have to make another one! :D I know it's almost impossible to create a game that considers all your choices! ;) But Lis is very close to give you an illusion of doing so .... Until dawn isn't that close ... So I liked Lis much more aswell! But I like the horror genre and yes Silent Hill is great if it would have been continued :/
I don't care what the haters say about Legend of Korra. Yeah sure it's not like the original Avatar the Last Airbender. Well here's the thing it's not suppose to be like ATLA. Its a continuation of the story and things are going to change, the some of the original characters aren't going to be in series anymore because years passed. And Aang... well come on once the avatar dies the next one will be born. Both shows had their own mistakes and cringy moments and their badass scenes. And each character get their own backstory and development. I love the original ATLA and it will be my top favorite in Nickelodeon shows, but LOK is great as well :) This series was amazing in it's own right. Also the nostalgia that continued on in the show and the music is simply amazing!
I don't mind it's different, it would be lame if it wasn't in some way unique and new. But I do have some serious problems with how they approached the series, specifically with how they wrote Korra and some of the changes in the art style, along with some of the retcons that ruin part of the mystery for the original series. Korra is a good show, I won't deny it didn't have great and memorable moments, and I can see why people who grew up with it would love it just as much as I love Avatar... but it's just not as good, and not only is it an objective downgrade in terms of character development and world design, but it also pisses on the legacy of ATLA and Aang as a character. No matter what they write into the comics, Aang will always die at 65, he will always be remembered as a poor father, Wan will always have been a thieving little shit, and Korra will always be the cocky arrogant idiot that always got her way.
@@trainknut i dont see a problem with these characters having flaws. Aang as the Avatar carried the weight of his lost nation and the entire world on his shoulders, no wonder he made mistakes. Wan only stole because his family had nothing to eat and also changed later, and Korra had the biggest development so i dont see a problem
darkyami12141 Its a really bad show compared to ATLA. The only thing i enjoyed was the seeing Katara, Zuko, Iroh and the legend: Toph. I also liked the composition and seeing Aang's kids and grandkids. The story, team avatar, Korra self are just shit.

The Legend Of Korra's soundtrack is just pure magical. Say anything about the plot, but ya haters can't pretend to hate this.
So true. The music and overall story-themes are so damn good, the Avatar franchise will always be my personal number one. The music alone gives me massive goosebumps and brings me to tears very often, it's so powerful.
Just accept the truth Legend of korra is overall trash amd DO NOT compare it to the masterpiece that is Avatar: the last airbender. Her small character development in season 3 and 4 besides horrible writing does not conclude the statement.
@@iknowwatdadogdoin5454I will never understand why people click on videos of things they supposedly hate just so that they can write garbage comments like this. Are you a troll?
That moment when she was headed to Republic city and changed course out of fear gave me chills. Korra imo is the most underrated character in ATLA/LOK just because she is the main character. Imo she gets the best character development out of any character Bryke has created. Unfortunately that resulted in not enough development for supporting characters (looking at you mako) but oh well ;)
Completely subjective. ATLA was Amazing. TLOK was mediocre in contrast, I wouldn't use the term amazing. The composers did up their sound bending game, however.
I remember the old days when I only wanted to get home and watch the legend of Aang,a few year later, had the same feeling with the legend of korra. now 2017, I´m glad to know that I´ve had a good childhood
This is the series that inspired me to write my own comic. This music is such a powerful piece and anyone can interpret it their own way and my way of interpreting it is as if someone has been fighting with themselves for a long time and finally realises to let go of what they've been holding onto that has made them suffer.
I see it as somebody who doesn't know what to do or where to go but finally realizes their path and how lost they have been. It's like they finally open their eyes and see the world and their path is right in front of them, all they have to do is follow it. It really makes me hopeful when I'm stressed that I can make the right choice and find my path that leads to inner peace and happiness. That was deep lol.
Light Wolf Productions i see it as someone held back by a lot of anxiety and stuff and then they finally go out into the world and its beautiful once they finally see it and everything
"2 paths, different choices, one aim. History repeat itself, but that doesn't mean it's not a bad thing. For a one path, it may create a thousand more."
This wallpaper is simply amazing and make some people realize that is not necessary to hate korra and his legend. Please, let's appreciate both of this fantastic Avatar's!
Just finished Legend of Korra recently, and by one of my favorite series now (next to Avatar, of course!). I thought the AtLA soundtrack was great, but the LoK soundtrack is by far much more powerful and gorgeous. It's amazing to see how much Zuckerman has improved! Good for him.
This song made me cry. It made me feel something incredible and inspiring. I don't have the vocabulary to describe how beautiful this piece of art is...
@二屄 吃屎 牛屄 Nickelodeon stopped because Korra wasnt a Kids Show anymore. I get why you argue Aangs show was better, but even objectively it cant be said that Korra is a bad show.
Sean Berdo Korra would’ve been so much better if it was given 20 or more episodes per season. It had too many characters that it couldn’t develop them all in such a short amount of time.
ATLA and LOK aren't even in the same universe. In ATLA, the avatar state comes from the experience of all your past lives. In LOK, they introduce Raava for the first time and losing her past lives makes no difference, so it means that the avatar state is not being able to access others' experiences, it is Raava power. The first bending teachers, were they lion turtles, or the moon, dragons, badgermoles, and flying bison? In ATLA, the avatar state is overpowered and whole armies can't beat it when the avatar is mature and ready. In LOK, lots of people can beat it. In ATLA, the bending was tied to martial arts, in LOK, a punch will do for any element. In ATLA, being able to bend well was connected to your inner being. As an example, in ATLA, lightning bending was a high art that required peace of mind, and Zuko could not bend lightning because of his inner turmoil. But in LOK, lightning bending becomes so mundane that it becomes a factory job. So I can objectively reject LOK as a legitimate sequel due to its inconsistencies.
IntheInternet Wetrust Yes! And don't forget book 2 lol. It's such a shame that we can't enjoy all the glorious LOK music. It means so much to so many people and Nickelodeon won't even give it a chance. I know we could all do something but it would take all of the LOK fans coming together
Nickelodeon already made it abundantly clear that they don't give a shit about The Legend of Korra when they moved it to online distribution in season 3.
Greatest wallpaper ever!! Imagine the story behind it!! Where they are. Where they’re going. What they’ve accomplished together to get there!! Korra!! Aang!! We miss you guys!!😭😭
You mean when they stopped making it? They did that because it was getting too risky to air anymore and it was so brutalized ect that it wasn’t for younger kids anymore and more of teens. I mean I know it’s fine that some shows are for teens and all but nick is mainly targeted for kids and not teens and adults
Oh my God, I asked Jeremy to release this track in a comment on his Soundcloud! I know that he surely didn't release it because of me (that would be silly to think), but I still didn't think that he would've released anything like this! I'M SO HAPPY.
Actually, if he had the permission your request might very well have been the reason to release it. I've wrote Jeremy Zuckerman before, he interacts very well with fans.
+Edgar Allan Poe Yeah right? It is unbelievably stupid that Nick holds the rights AND does not plan to release them. I mean, why? Why the fuck are they so stupid? They know how many fans desire these masterpieces of music :/
On the left, Aang. On the right, Korra. A 12 years old boy, and a 21 years old woman. A curious, full of life kid, and a energetic, confident adult. Both have been through the absolute worse. Both have lost many things. Aang had to fight his principles as a pacifist airbender, and Korra had to deal with anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Yet, both have shown amazing inspiring stories, full of meaning and adventures. They both have slowly discovered and understood the world around them, just to know how to keep peace and harmony. And, after two great series, watching them standing right next to each other, "guarding" the horizon... Holy shit I wanna cry
"Let it play out. Accept what happened to you, don't fear what might have been". One of the most powerful messages I've ever heard in media. Love this forever 💙
God...just seeing Aang and Korra next to each other physically hurts so much...even after all these years, I come to tears at the fact that all of the past lives before Korra are gone.😢
jeremy zuckerman is the best composer on tv. also i love the picture. it reminds me of how different aang and korra are, how much both of them have been through, their faults, and their accomplishments. i dont know how zuckerman does it, but he mixes so many emotions and memories into one song
Korra's mental struggles seemed to occur at the same time as my own. I connect with her so deeply because of this. And just her personality in general. I was watching her fight herself in Book 4 around the same time my depression was just beginning to come upon me. I became obsessed with the episodes where Korra was haunted by her Avatar state self (from when she was poisoned and fighting Zaheer) because I was so troubled and was seeking something or someone to relate to. While I wasn't shadowed by another version of myself or experiencing psychosis and night terrors, I was still a scared child in a scary world, and part of me sought to destroy itself and everything I hold dear, whilst I feared the impossible day and night. ^ Depression and anxiety. When you don't face much mental anguish in your life, your defenses against such things are weak, so I took the hits harder than I should've...
just remembered this show today and started to cry I remembered how much I loved these shows and remembered that it's over and then I heard this soundtrack again and I cried! I'm rewatching these masterpieces again !!!!
It's so painful especially when you realize how many traumatic experiences Korra's went through but still she needed to fulfill her duty, because everyone expects the Avatar to do so.. If we're able to sympathize with a 'fictional' character so much, we should also acknowledge, that what we watched was no ordinary show. Avatar is so many things it's just... indescribable.
Never bothered to watch LoK before cuz of its bad rep. A year ago I felt so lost and depressed. I considered trying out this show for the heck of it. 1:40 - Korra fighting her fears 1:50 - Korra persevered and found herself again It spoke to me… taught me all these lessons that we go through in life and to become stronger for it. I found this show when I needed it most and can say it’s one the best comfort shows for lost young adults out there
I will never understand how people can come up with such magical melodies in their head and make it real. This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Musicians are truly wizards.
sure in the story department (at least in my opinion) ATLA beats korra but to be honest LOK by far for me beats the last airbender in the soundtrack department, at least most of the soundtrack from ATLA.
Don't forget that the animation (especially in combat) is WAY better in Korra. But I do not even separate the two in my mind. They are both amazing and part of the same story.
I also don't get, why some people say, that LOK is much worse than TLA. TLA is a 10/10, even on IMdB it's ranked #14 of every series ever created. You simply can't top that. LOK is still a 9,5/10, but some people treat it like total waste.
Felix W. They are both so epic... LOK has better animation just as a basic truth. However, the first season of LOK was created while they thought it would be the only season of the entire series, so everything after the first season was technically a scramble to continue a story that was technically over. So, the story kind of suffers due to that, but they REALLY pulled it off and it's amazing.
Personally I would take LOK over ATLA. Soundtrack and animation are superior and the story has more subtleties and so forth. As to you ChamorruWarrior, I would actually never have guessed it, and that is amazing. They really pulled it off well.
This series was marvellous it was awe inspiring, bold and dramatic and help me find inspiration for my novel that I'm currently writing about love, betrayal, Segregation, fascism and revolution
ATLA despite being a show on nickeloden was one of the greatest stories every told in my opinion. Amazing, it will be a very very long time until it's forgotten, if it ever is.
