Over the last 10 years we've been to mosquito hell and back on our homestead.
The mosquitos will drive you to actual insanity if you have no protection. We've considered and tried many options to spare us the suffering and we've finally done it.
Our mosquito protection plan is a screened in porch! Go outside and you're in mosquito hell, take refuge in the porch and you're back.
Help Christina go to college, or... maybe buy a Jeep:

and check out our IG:

Love Mosquitos!? Same here! Leave a comment, subscribe, and join the adventure.

Ah mosquitoes... the national bird of Canada. I've had run-ins with those beasts. I went through 27 boxes of 12ga shotgun shells trying to defend myself and still lost 9 gallons of blood to those vampires. Thank God for deserts. Jeff, those girls are working you into the ground buddy! Of course they'd work all of the boys and most men into the ground but hey, nothing to be embarrassed about right? I know when I'm beaten.

The animal symbol for the town of High Level, Alberta is the mosquito. Your windshield gets covered with them while there is still 1/2 meter of snow in the ditches. The mosquitoes are huge, probably mutant.

You need to put those screens on a light switch and electrify them. Then, every evening, right at the peak of the mosquito attack, flip the switch for one big mass ZAP! and 🤤 of pure joy! If you do, I want that posted on the channel. I’ll loop it and fall asleep to that every night. 😂🤣😂

Man, those were some seriously huge Mosquitos! But that is a beautiful solution! I especially loved the wood stove! That will be a great asset for cooking in the summer! I just love the team work your family exhibits on projects like this! Those girls are a blessing that keeps on giving! And the shaving horse was a treat to see. Reminds me that I need to order a spoon or two! I am always in favour of building a college fund, especially if it goes towards the purchase of transportation to get there, wink wink! I Just got back from my fishing trip to Red Lake and the Mosquitos were everywhere! They feel like an evil army out to suck every ounce of blood from you. Unfortunately my fishing buddy left a gap in the zipper door of our tent and the next morning there were several hundred hanging upside down from the tent ceiling like vampire bats. So we thought, why are they not biting us? We took aggressive action and killed as many as we could, at once revealing to us why they were not biting? Now we have a tent ceiling speckled with dozens of little red spots! They had already had their feast and were sleeping it off!

In Texas it is said… Post hole digging is earning your PHD. Sir, the wind will wear out your screens quickly by wiggling it back and forth. If you take some trim wood and frame up your screens into smaller squares or rectangles the thin trim will stiffen up the screens and keep them from wearing out so fast.

This one time. On my trip to Canada. I was chased down by couple of mosquitos about the size of helicopters! I ran and ran. Finally I saw a trash can! So I dumped out the trash and pulled the can down over myself. I heard the two mosquitos land outside. After a moment, one of them asked, "Should we eat him here or take him home with us? The other replied, "If we take him home, the big ones will take him away from us! We have to eat him here." Next thing I know, their stingers come piercing the through the sides of the can. I grabbed a rock and bent them over like nails! Then, they flew off with the trash can stuck on their noses! But, I was safe and lived to tell you all this tale. Uh, huh. It's true. I swear! (a lot)

a funny thing happened here in Quebec, We had a very early spring with well above temperature highs, the mosquitoes were insane, I have never seen it that bad other than when you go way up north, then a cold front came by, and they went the way of the dinosaurs, we went from feeling like pieces of walking meat to being able to keep doors open without a screen till past dark. It was the first time I had seen that happen.

I have a suggestion two years late to the party, but you could use my it for NEXT TIME. I build using steel and concrete exclusively. That's just a personal preference. At any rate, when I put posts into holes, I make sure to coat them with a thin cement layer. Doing that somehow (magic?) prevents them from rusting or in your case, from rotting (?). Ya think?
