This Ram 3500 got hit by another truck in an intersection, clipping the driver side rear tires, which broke the leaf spring shackles, and allowed the axle to twist under the truck while it spun 180° in the roadway.
i used to do that alot a Old c6500 that was a manual and had pull Pto, but these new Ram 5500 trucks with automatic transmissions have to be in park so Pto can be on. Company has a MV like that ill have to see if it can do that.
No shortage of ways to do things in the towing industry. You could give that job to 5 different drivers and they might all do it differently and come out with the same outcome.
I used to work at a tow company with my dad for 16 years and I never seen that before that's cool me and my dad would use two different trucks but that's a new one for me I don't know if I would remember how to operate a tow truck I use to go with him and other drivers
The cool thing about this industry is that there are multiple ways to do everything. You could have given that job to several different operators, and they each could have done it a different way.
Kinda sorta. You have to walk that truck with the wheellift, and it doesn’t like doing that on the heavier trucks, so it’s easier to winch the truck under the casualty. With the truck I’m driving now, I probably would have walked it.
Thanks! I have several more video’s already scheduled to most every other day for a while, the next one is a car that hit an apartment building on NYE, and the few after that are pretty bad wrecks.
I hate that method, It works but I will never leave my truck able to free roll to winch it under another vehicle, There are so many other ways to do that without leaving your truck unoccupied and free rolling should the winch give out, I'd much rather skate the rear axle, let it roll and chain or strap it in place, walk the bed under the truck rather than winching the truck, etc.
Not my favorite method either, but it was level ground, so I wasn’t too concerned. It was the fastest way to get it loaded without causing extra damage. The cops were already getting pretty impatient, so I wasn’t about to take the time to do all the extra work.
Or just in a rush lol I’m going to take it that you haven’t watched many of my videos. I almost never go into the truck, or customers vehicle with gloves on, and my truck is normally just short of spotless inside. This particular job, I was in a hurry trying to clear the road, and literally only went into the cab to work the air brakes.
