In the near future, in order to earn basic rights, humans must join the space military and fight against alien bugs that feed on people's brains. Subscribe to our second channel: tinyurl.com/Mo...
i used to watch this movie so much as a kid and i forgot what it was called so i never watched it again this is when the foxtel q3 or whatever its called is when i watched it
One thing that has always bugged me about this movie is how even though we've managed to achieve space travel, we're still using Vietnam War era machine guns to fight the bugs. Haven't said that, it's still one of my favorite SciFi movies.
Hell, when this movie came out, all my army buddies were chuckling "Gee, get a line up of Toyota pickup trucks with MINI GUNS and you'll wipe out that wave of BUGS real quick!" The lack of air support, Armor, Artillery (basically combined forces) made no sense. STILL loved the movie though.
@@cyborgparrot1996 They have them in the sequels. So the lack of heavy equipment was likely due to the rush of the initial attack, and lack of serious preparation.
For those that don’t know, when Carmen tried to evade the asteroid at 5:32, the part of the ship that got hit was for communication purposes. That’s why they weren’t able to warn Earth of the incoming asteroid.
Also that impact would have been enough to alter the asteroid's course, causing it to hit the earth. To my understanding it's implied that asteroid was unrelated to the and used as a excuse to justify the war against the bugs.
🎯👍 IOI! But not actually an Important or Realistic Point . “ WARN THE EARTH “???!!! Yeah… like they’d ever lift their Heads up from their Ticky & Tweetr , SELF-ANOINTED SJW & I.Q. and Age of 17 Self-Titled ‘ Social Influencers’ to Notice OR Care. PS- ‘ E.L.E., 12-Mile Wide ASTEROID ☄️ Destroying the 🌎 🌍, Innocent 🐇s!!!??’ “I” say that’s a Good Thing! 😂
🎯 K.!! Also.. How come there’s Never :Creature, Zombie, Evil-Spirit 🎞️s taken from THIER P.O.V. ?!! How Discriminatory! And ALWAYS these “ WONEN “ -ESP. The Nude Shower Scene- are 🥊- Out 🤤😘🫠 ! ( No: 200-plus Pounds, Never shave their Legs of Upper-Lip, Dyed-Blue Crew Cut Hair, actually really CAN’T tell their Gender ( and DON’T REALLY want to see) Liberated.. whatever..) Then again… I’m Not a ‘ Scientist ‘ or a PhD. Degree in Ickenshockology from Berkley; so may not be WOKE enough to define a “ Woman “. AND!- there aren’t Enough Minority & Gender-Neutral Actors seen being EATEN and Killed by bugs 🐜 or Killer, Feral Killing-Alien-Space 🐇s! Include Eco-Friending FACE-HUGGERS to that Excluded-by-Privileged-Hollywood! ZERO Diversity!! Just a Debatable & Socially-Conscious ‘ EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT’ point. God Bless. 👴🏽NoBody.
Whats interesting is that even though the movie is satirical, the author of the book it’s based on genuinely believed only veterans should be allowed to vote
@@dejviidd I believe the director of the movie is/was, or the son of a Holocaust survivor, and when reading the screenplay decided the movie needed to be taken in a wildly different direction.
Also this movie was even misunderstood before it was made. the director, Paul Verhoeven, didnt really like the book and didnt even read it all, just parts. when he made the movie in his usual satirical style he intended for the watchers to hate the humans and the fascist military government. Ironically, most people to this day can very well relate to the humans and think the military government is pretty effective.
@@typie34 I wouldn't say people call the government effective, the first attack on the bugs definately didn't impress anyone, but the idea that only people who serve society should be allowed to vote makes sense to a lot of people. ie: if you haven't ever paid tax you probably shouldn't have a say in where tax money should go. If you aren't willing to die for your people and the government that unites them, should you really be allowed to run for an office with any power? The most impressive part of the government in the movie is that they get replace the skymarshal immediatly after he fails, when our politicians make mistakes we see that the law doesn't matter, only that they are popular with the part(y/ies) in power. Democracy has it's issues, maybe we shouldn't just assume we have found the best version of it and keep trying to adjust it.
@@typie34 I didn't end up hating the humans. Instead I found the humans reckless and stupid. One thing I didn't notice until someone pointed it out to me literally a few months ago, is that NPH's uniform looks exactly like an SS uniform.
so lucky you watched this in theaters. When I was a kid, renting movies was a thing, and whenever we go there for a family night, I always wanted to pick this movie
Yeah, it's one of those sci-fi flicks you really have to suspend your disbelief. I mean, they still use normal machine guns, no formations/tactics really. Everyone gets promoted in a few months etc. But it's a really great, timeless movie that really holds up.
The Starship Trooper is a movie premised from a book based on 1959 by Robert A. Heinlein. The imagination of sci-fi back then were still very early so the concept of traveling to one end of the galaxy to the other side is not yet researched. The novel is basically whatever you can imagined but add it with World War historical concept. The human part is that the humans were actually initiated the first contact war of the Arachnids. As they achieved space travel of whatever FTL they used that ends up in the other side of the galaxy. They encountered the Arachnids on a star system. The most unrealistic part of the series is how the hell the bugs able to traverse the vast distance of galactic space? That they can send a Bug Meteor that was able to reach Earth an annihilated a city in South America.
When I was a kid my brother convinced me this movie had too many special effects and that they could not make it on VHS. With no way to confirm it, I was devastated.
I remember growing up and going to blockbuster to find this movie. I was only 8 or 9 years old when I found this movie. I fell in love with this and its not so great sequels. I am glad that I am able to relive this movie through helldivers 2. The commentary on this movie will always be relevant and important. For democracy!!!
One fun thing is that it is implied in the moves that asteroid was actualy a Federation leaders doing to save the regime suffering from massive internal instability. They wanted to give humanity common enemy, that would be defeated in massive asalut of combined forces from all planets across the Federation space. One tiny little problem was that they underestimated bugs as a mindless animals, an planet sized ant colony at best. And oh boy they were wrong as bugs were just as inteligent as humans and were even capable of interstellar travel turning short victorius war into meatgrinder. Absolutely hillarous how it backfired in spectacular way.
Funny, it took me too long to realize that the only reason Zim tore up Rico's release was to get that demotion because his rank mage is impossible to be sent into onto the front line.
The best part of this movie (for me) is how the whole thing is sold like a pro-war news TV channel, featuring military adverts, talking heads and experts debating on shows, newsrooms, commercializing space, etc. It created a whole world with so much depth and character.
What a great movie 💯 💯 Do you know this movie features extensive use of computer-generated imagery (CGI) to create the giant arachnid-like alien creatures known as "Bugs." However, due to budget constraints, the production team had to find creative ways to save on CGI costs. To achieve this, they used miniatures and animatronic models for certain shots, blending practical effects seamlessly with the CGI.
wdym? they did there's: Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (Direct to DvD) (Doesn't feature the main character Rico) Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (Direct to DvD) (Features Rico played by same actor) Starship Troopers: Invasion (CGI Movie) (Features Rico, but with a different voice actor) Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars (CGI Movie) (Features Rico but this time voiced by the original actor from the first and 3rd movie)
Starship troopers ahh man this movie takes me back 😂, idc what nobody say this movie was🔥🔥🔥. I stayed watching this I just knew I was rico & you couldn’t tell me nun😂.
To everyone reading this Keep going. No matter how stuck you feel, no matter how bad things are right now, no matter how hopeless & depressed you feel, no matter how many days you have spent wishing things were different. I promise you won't feel this way forever. Keep going..🙏Bless my day with a follow🤲🏼 it mean a lot
@@JB-ym4up opposite. The book is a pro-fascism, might makes right, piece of imperialist propaganda. The movie is a satire, and a clearer picture of how horrific fascist societies truly are
When This came out I was like 11 or so. I watched this movie thousands of times. But back then you had to wait for it to rewind in the vcr because it was copied on to a vhs. Lol. Good times.
Always will be one of my favorite movies 😂 The plot itself is really interesting, even if the movie could be classified as trash-movie 😅 I also love it because its just 40k guardsmen vs tyranide ❤ (kind of)
I like how the uniforms are very clearly inspired by the Germans from WW2. The collar insignias, the caps and the tunics are all basically carbon copies of the real counterparts with different paint jobs.
@@WillysStuff Well even on its Wikipedia page it says Verhoeven (filmmaker) himself, have stated that the film was intended to be ironic, and to critique fascism. The film has also been described as criticizing the jingoism of US foreign policy, the military industrial complex, and the society in the film, which elevates violence over sensitivity. your welcome
I adore this movie, still holds up today and such a fun movie, probably my favorite movie and now I can play as a soldier in Extermination. Really happy the game has the same feeling as the movie, so good.
This is no joke, amazing ideea to rule the world. Ppl should earn to be a citizen, and state SHOULD WANT to take you and prove yourself AFTER they train you.
