Dear friends!
Orthodox Christians have a great fast.
In past years, it happened that some reproached me:
Like, fasting is coming, and you are cooking meat!
I was outraged by such comments. Is it really difficult to look at my last name and understand that it is not very thoughtful, at least, to demand fasting from an Azerbaijani who was born in Uzbekistan?
Sometimes I was simply asked if there would be Lenten dishes. I answered that my channel is not kosher, not felting and not Orthodox. This is a food channel!
But today, when I see what the division of people has once again led to, I understand that I was wrong.
Judge for yourself: we are divided by borders, by nationality, by religion, by language, by social status - whatever methods are used by those who would like to divide us, set us against each other and ... tritely control us.
Before continuing, I would like to ask you a question, it is important for me that everyone answers: what nationality do you consider yourself to be? What country do you live in? What religion do you belong to? If you're an atheist, it's okay, just write. Do you follow all the rules or just some of them? Do you observe fasts - Orthodox or Muslim, depending on who is of what faith? Write in the comments so that both I and each of us can see how different we are, how everything is mixed up.
I met a good example of the right attitude to my work where none of you would expect. It happened in Chechnya, in the city of Grozny.
It so happened that I ended up there on the day of Easter.
And Easter was always celebrated in our family, along with the first of May, the seventh of November or the new year. I will say this - we started celebrating Navruz, Kurban and other national and Islamic holidays later, as a result of realizing our identity, but Easter was always celebrated, because we have an international family - Azerbaijanis, Russians, Germans, and the same was all our surroundings. And so we baked Easter cakes every year. By the way, I have published recipes for Easter cakes several times and each time I received a flurry of gratitude. In recent years, even women with Muslim names and surnames have joined the thanksgiving, they told how they baked it, how well it turned out, how happy the children and neighbors were, how they still asked! After all, many of them got acquainted with Easter cakes during their happy childhood, from Russian neighbors! And now this smell, this taste has returned to their homes.
So, returning to the instructive story about the incident in Grozny.
On Easter day, I came to the hotel for breakfast and suddenly, among other treats, I found ... painted eggs and Easter cakes.
You understand?
Russian women did not work in that restaurant, only Chechens, only Muslim women.
But they, realizing that among the guests of the hotel there are also those for whom this day is a holiday, they tried and baked Easter cakes, dyed eggs and ... they did a work absolutely pleasing to the Lord. They did not change their faith, they simply showed respect for the faith of their guests.
I thought about it, I realized that perhaps some of them had relatives killed during the war, maybe even husbands or brothers. And they stepped over pain, grief and resentment, they showed that they are real people!
What I want to say with this. We are going through severe trials. The generation of our grandfathers went through the same. We must remain human. First of all, people, and only then Russians or Tatars, Chechens or Belarusians, Muslims, Jews and Christians. Even if an atheist is also a kind of faith, but if a person lives according to divine laws, is that not enough? For example, I also do not go to a mosque or a church, I just have equal respect for all religions, and in choosing friends I prefer believers, to be honest. I feel safer with them, calmer, no matter what faith they adhere to!
Therefore, today I want to publish in advance a few recipes that are suitable for those who keep the Orthodox fast. I want to say that these dishes are very tasty even for those who do not fast.
So, fasting is not just the pacification of the flesh, it is also the upliftment of the spirit.
That is, fasting is not at all about changing the style of eating, but about what only a person can do. Do good and turn away from any sin, read, study and try to discern the face of God in every person around you.
Do no evil and do not wish evil.
Informative viewing and bon appetit!
