Cameron - excellent video! I used to be victim of early extension. To counter this, I focused only on pushing my lead hip back as part of my downswing transition via the chair drill. When I watch my face on videos, I have literally minimal to no horizontal shift in transition. Looks like this video will help me get to that middle ground, and hopefully prevent those fat shots / pulls. Thanks for sharing!

Great Video Cameron, very good easy to follow information. Is my understanding correct that there us basically no difference in this movement between iron, driver & woods? Greetings from Germany

That is correct. Thanks for watching

Thank you for this helpful lesson. For the lateral move over the left foot, is that accomplished by pushing off the right instep or the rolling of both ankles? Or simply leaning the rib cage left? thank you, Jeff

Leaning the ribcage left by a combination of right foot pressure and unweighting on the left foot

Curious your thoughts on the relationship between getting over your lead leg and stance width. Recently I realized my stance was wider than I thought after doing some mirror training. I was having trouble getting my weight to the lead leg and staying balanced resulting in fats and thins. bringing my feet closer together seems to have helped with, balance, consistency, and ease of strike.

I love a narrower base for this very reason

The only issue is if it’s overly narrow you sacrifice some ability to create swing speed via horizontal forces (think baseball pitcher launching themselves down the mound)

@@CameronMcCormickGolf I think for me I went from just outside shoulder width apart to at or just inside. Realized what felt like was correct was actually a bit of an over exaggeration. I think that is a common problem I have with online learning. Trying to create a feeling and over exaggerating it on the course. mirror training has been really helpful in showing correcting that for me

What you demonstrate as 'extending' looks much more like horizontal rotation bias. I am coached to extend but this shows as pushing upwards with left leg & side. No emphasis on the latest trend which is to almost flay the hips open. They will open but this occurs as a result, not cause. Also, why not create the 'stacked' joint earlier...during the backswing? If you wait until transition to go lower then it delays the left side push up and maximum ground forces. Your action moves bottom of arc a long way forward too. Sliding laterally is important but not with the whole body. The lower half of body should move laterally towards target (through the wall) but the upper body should stay further back which will show the spine angle the top players display through impact. As you move post impact with left side extension, the chest will pivot and you finish posted up on left side.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Iron striking would benefit from both provide and ribcage centers translating toward the target

Hi Cameron, what do you think about Stack and Tilt? You would have one less movement because you are already stacked. Maybe an idea for the next Video ;) Thanks from Bavaria 🍻

Not a great idea for a couple key reasons. I may do a video

@@CameronMcCormickGolf Appreciate it! I would be very interested in your opinion on this. There are a few preachers who consider it the one true way.

@@neffets2047Tom Saguto recommends this. A lot of people seem to benefit from his teaching. I personally am more of a fan of an athletic and fluid motion. Does it involve more timing than stack and tilt? Sure, but it’s what resonates with me and if you practice enough it will click over time. Athletic Motion Golf and Dr. Kwon have very interesting videos.
