To Your Eternity Episode 1 Made Me Cry Tears and I Even Read The First Chapter... 

This anime had me tearing up....

The talent of an writer to make an endless amount of people cry and care for a character with no backstory, no name, and in under 30 minutes is actually incredible and deserves more credit.

The boy’s optimism and seeing all of it being crushed is what got me, tragic way to go for this boy

It’s even sadder that the boys real wolf that was trying to return to him... was actually dead this hurts so much at least he wasn’t alone when the orb went back to the nameless boy.

I think IT did care about the boy. He tried nudging him to kinda try and wake him up before he transformed. Also when he fell off the chair and when he's walking out the door you can see the boy back on the chair which showed that IT listened to the boy's final wish of sitting on the chair and waiting for his family. Amazing episode overall man. Such feels.

At first I was like “this boy can’t die, he’s on the poster”, but then I remembered the orb can change forms mid episode 🥲😭

As a manga reader i already knew what was gonna happen and i still couldn't hold back the tears

That was depressing. What killed him wasn’t the weather, or the journey but loneliness. The drive to find someone he could talk to, to have some kind of social life with another human being led him to his downfall at the end. Truly a sad opening episode, but one I will stick around and see where it goes.

7:10 "and walks out the door" NO! It puts the boy back in the chair, one of the most important details in the entire episode

I think the orb changed into the boy at the end to fulfill his quest to finding paradise, not because it loved the boy but, as the orb was hollow, spending so much time with the boy, it absorbed his ideals and goals for life. Like a social sponge. Like kids absorb the behavior of their parents. As it will explore more and live longer it will change his reason for existing.

the boy fell from the chair once he died but once the creature left the house you could see the boy sitting back on the chair, so I assume the creature at least recognized something on the boy

I feel pretty confident in saying that, regardless of how good the rest of the show turns out, this is one of the best 1st episodes to a show we have seen in a while, and i trully hope it gets better, i loved this episode and i cannot wait for the next!!

That poor boy was literally written and drawn to attack our feels man. I couldn't stand to witness the sad situation he was in until the end. But at the very least he's now reunited with his family in the afterlife. 😭

Yoshitoki Oima is one of the greatest story tellers in Japan’s modern history. She’s right there next to Kentaro Miura, Shinichiro Watanabe, Hideaki Anno, Makoto Shinkai, Satoshi Kon, and Hayao Miyazaki. Absolutely brilliant.

We all cried chibi WE ALL CRIED UGLY TEARS I broke down seeing what that boy had to go through

I had no idea that this anime was airing, or even made. Even though I've caught up the manga, I was caught off guard by this episode and cried. Hits even closer to home after my dog died last week

The moment I saw the beginnings of frostbite I said "Oh, he's not going to make it T_T". I was not expecting to cry like that with a first episode. It was so well narrated, the fact that we knew what was going to happen maybe makes it even more jarring. I'm so looking forward to more of this anime.

This is one series that I had to take a break from because I got too emotionally invested especially on cliffhangers. Love the characters.

This anime is beautiful 💙 Sad & heartbreaking but beautiful. The boy did more than enough, far than many others and his only reward was despair. Characters like him are the reason that I don't have patience with victims, trapped in a place forgotten by god, eating garbage, burning little by little the memories of the people he loved, condemned to be tortured by eternal cold, and he refused to give up, he refused to abandon hope and keep smiling even if was only to himself, he didn't speak Ill of the ones that "abandoned" him and even when he learned the fate of his family and friends crushing his hopes, his will only faltered for a moment, and even on his final moments he decides that if he dies it will be waiting for his family... and no one is gonna remember his name. And what really hit me was that the dog wasn't supposed to be there... No sane mind would ever trade places with him, and that should be enough for others to value what they have. And this is only episode 1

that boy is now my role model. i will follow his example for the rest of my life. he’s not even real and i am in tears and the author has managed to change me.

I teared up and I’m on antidepressants. I was like, Chibi had to have cried. Omg

I saw someone point out that the boy and his actual dog both died from an injury on their left leg, so they basically died in the same way. I'd never heard of this series before but I'm glad I found it, it's really one of the best shows I've seen in a long time.

I was like: "oh, shit, he is gonna..." And my friend: "NO!!!! NOOO!" *sobbing* It was more intense than I expected.

I found interesting how both the original dog and the original boy died of the same type of injury and on the same side of the body. No spoilers please. It felt like it was some kind of foreshadowing or metaphor.

I read the manga and I cried and I knew what’s gonna happen when I was watching the episode and I cried even more . I have never felt more sorry for a character in my entire life . Just heartbreaking.

What an emotional and powerful start There's only one other show that made me cry from the very first episode and that's Boku no Pico

Honestly, this show is gonna be a real tear jerker. When reading the manga i started crying like every ten chapters

the thing i love about this series is that every arc stays impactful throughout the series. you never forget the boy even after meeting the rest of the characters, even over a hundred chapters in.

we are following an orb who is understanding what is to live and in the same time a human who is experiencing death, the story looks great

I don't remember crying when reading the manga, but the anime got me. I was already tearing up when I saw the wolf, so by the time the boy got injured I was already a sobbing mess. But, my God... when they showed the preview...

I didnt cry but I can say the ending hit fucking hard I am replaying it constantly and it hits my heart "Just as the boy had wished to do... As the Ost plays"

I like the fact he was getting frostbite and gangrene. You could see it slowly getting worse as time passes by.

For some reason I had thought it would be a journey of a lone boy and his wolf.......I was not ready for that...I cried so hard.

I cried reading the mange, and i cried watching this ep. I cried again watching reactors in youtube T.T

He did actually demonstrate some form of care for the boy. After the boy died, he took the boy and put him back on the chair. The boy wanted to have a dignified death sitting in the chair, so the creature picked him up and put him back in the chair. He didn't just stop there either, he also arranged the boy's necklace and clothing so he looked pretty dignified in death sitting there.

Characters You Know and Love Dies and Keeps Reappearing in Front of You: The Anime.

Did anyone catch the fact that both the real wolf and the human died of injury in their left leg?...dont know if it was intentional or not but if it was props to the writer for the details!

Definitely not alone. It took me a while to even want to actually sit down and watch the episode but I just asked myself "Am I wanting to just emotionally destroy myself tonight? Yeah." And so I finally watched and just... bawling. Openly bawling and I just I'm still affected even though I have watched it a bit ago. This episode alone will forever be something I remember

i love how little info we got but we could see where it was going to go, that’s called good writing. I was on the verge of tears and was extremely sad for the boy.

Got one or two tears too. Actually pretty impressive to achieve that with one talking character and right away in episode 1.

I believe the being felt sadness which triggered the "stimulus" to transform. The being definately cared about the boy, even understood and respected him to some extend, it showed this by lifting him back on his chair before leaving.

How the boy just lost all the hope he had. Slowly being crushed coming to the realisation that it was all in vain still trying to be optimistic in his final hours man that hits hard.

Best first episode of the season, that was so just so sensational 🙏

Although I did not cry I did feel much more for a character in one episode then any other first episode in anime ever

I've literally watched epidode 1 at least 5 times to keep getting a glimpse of this sweet boys words, spirit and personality. I want to hold him, kiss, him, and show him I loved him at first sight.

Its heartbreaking how the boy was searching for paradise and his people all his life but only found it after death :(

For me, I was constantly telling myself, “He’s not gonna make it past the mountains, he’s gonna have to come to the realization that he’s not gonna be able make it past and he’ll have to go home. It’s gonna be sad to watch.” What made it sadder for me was, by the time he decided to head home, I knew he wouldn’t make it back, or at least not be back for long. Also watching him realize that he was talking to himself this whole time, and that he was making Joaan a physical representation of his self doubts. And when he saw the X on the arrow. Anyway, I’m excited for the next episode. TLDR: It’s sad to realize that an optimistic boy is going to die and for him to realize everything he was trying to deny.

No one is ready for the feels this series will bring lmao

The amount of character development in the first 15 minutes was astounding. We got to know this boy and came to love him for his adorable nature, his kindness and his ever optimistic attitude. All I can say is he deserved better.

Am I the only one that thought he was the main character and would've got through it, so it hit me hard when he died , because I really wasn't expecting it

I watched the episode just now and omfg.....I couldn't stop tearing up. This is the first anime that has made me emotional from just the first episode. He really didn't deserve to go out like that😭😭

i loved it its so beautiful u can feel the atmosphere his finger freezing and the way he breaks down when he realizes what really happened. its so touching and truly a masterpiece... Hope it gets more good reviews..

i knew it was coming because it’s in the anime synopsis. i started crying before anything even happened because i loved him so much already ;-;

I’ve read the manga a long time ago but stopped. I saw they made an anime and procrastinated seeing the first episode. So, after a month I decided to watch it... let me tell you; knowing beforehand what was going to happen made so much more sadder after finishing the first episode. I cried way too much for this episode

This serie is more about the journey than the goal... on a fundamental level the important thing to remember is that the orb is immortal and therefore is going to outlive everyone it meets. Some is going to have a happy ending and die content with their lives while others like the boy will meet a depressing death and everything in between... and every one of these encounters will affect the orb for better or worse.....

The manga is fking amazing, would recomend it to nearly everyone!

I cried so hard. I went in blind just cause I seen you post a review for it I decided to check it out. I was screaming at my screen "HEAL HIM!!! PLEASE!!!!"😭 But I'm glad it didn't turn out to be one of those animes now that Im over my sobbing💯

As a manga reader, im excited for the animation. The animation + the music score during those emotional moments will surely bring the tears 😭😭March, Gugu, the 3 friends, and Pioran scenes will surely be epic. epic

I didn't want to read the manga bc I knew it was sad, but this is just the FIRST episode and everything hurts so much...

Omg.. that first episode hit me so hard.. I've never read the manga or even heard of it, so this was really unique and unexpected for me.. but DAMN.. that was one of the best pieces of animation and story I've ever seen and I've only just seen episode 1!! Lol truly a masterpiece so far. Just the one episode in and of itself could be a beautiful stand alone story about the experience of this lonely boy and the "entity" that is now in his dog. Absolutely amazing.

I watched this just off a whim based on this vids title. This is the first new anime I've watched in years. I wasn't really expecting anything, and I got this. 25 minutes and that could've been it - it's just so emotional. But it's 20 eps... so much potential... I hope this series becomes amazing.

Great first ep. Honestly, I already like this more than A Silent Voice. That movie was good, but not mind-blowing to me. This however, tingles my emotions way more.

It's been a long time since I've cried while watching anime and this series had me in tears from just the first episode alone.

this was heartbreaking... so the orb probably preserves memories since we see the wolf returning home to its master, maybe not perfect memories, probably genetic memories or maybe just doesnt know how to put that info into perspective and use it as a reference. i loved how the boy cared for Joaan so much during the journey as to have it sleep inside the tent and wrap the blanket around the wolf instead of himself, he was treasuring and caring to the best of his means for the only family he had left. probably he did not have any medicine to treat his wound because he used while he was caring for the elders. did anyone noticed when the orb took the boys form it had 2 leashes? one wrap aroun its neck and one around the wrist. i hope eventualy the orb will be able to take all the info it has gathered into use and properly remember the boy and how it has been living the life he wished for. i will keep watching for sure.

Holy shit I didn't know this was getting adapted, I loved the manga.

I cried at both the manga chapter and anime episode. Loved the music! I read quite far into the manga, but then stopped because I knew it had to get an anime adaptation one day.

I remember reading the first chapter in 2019 during finals week alongside reading/watching equally depressing stories (AoT, Netflix Dark). Oh boy was I a mess. Watching this story in anime form brought back the trauma

The boy died of a gangrene infection. My father died from that. I know how horrific and painful it is to watch someone die from that. Its a miserable death.
