I totally get what your trying to do but without an actual video catching fish it’s hard to go along . I’m on the delta a ton , I know how delta guys talk . Caught 40 fish but nothing of substantial size or they caught all these big ones but don’t have pics . C’mon man you have the time and the cameras take time off the talk show and put some backing to all the words .

Steve a few tips with rigging the Z-MAN plastics. With the screw lock hooks you can take a toothpick and pre-punch about 3/4 inch or use the hook point. A dab of super glue helps. You can also use an ewg hook and after tying the hook run a toothpick through the eye of the hook and snip the two ends off. The wood will also hold fish scent if you use them. Shaw Grigsby gave me this tip. Or you can use one of his favorite hooks the Trokar TK125 worm hook.

@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 No I'm in NY. Fish mostly our reservoir systems. Which of gin Clearwater. I also ran a small lure manufacturing business back in the early '90s to the beginning of 2000s. Called Liv-O-Lure. I used to make spinner baits, buzzbaits, jigs and hair jigs. I was the inventor of the Liv-O-Lution Jig. It was well known here in the Northeast during the 90's.

Thanks for the great information. Going to have to add a new box to my setup now. I do have a question about reels. Most of my reels are 7.1 gear ratio. Is that fine for this or do I need something different? Again, thanks for your info, I'm loving all your videos. I wish I'd have watched your last one before I went out on the Delta Sunday. I would've totally fished differently.

Very interesting. This is all new territory for me. What about throwing the frogs on spinning gear? Medium action with braid and short mono or fluoro leader? Secondly, are frogs not limited to soft light conditions like topwaters? Many thanks.

If your spinning rod has some back bone give it a try. If you have problems with hooking fish change rods. Go with strait braid. Subsurface all day long. The air frog over mats just like a hollow body frog, all summer all day in 100 degree heat. You will not get a tone of bites but when you do, they are exlposive and usuall big fish. Tou're going to love the toad-make sure to give it a good chance.

Steve, I fished the horny toad in the tournament this weekend a lot. We caught so many fish that were smaller than the horny toad just couldn’t catch any reasonable size fish. Everything was so small only weighed in four for 5.2 lbs. Huge embarrassment again. Think it’s time to get Christian or some guide to show me where to fish the Delta .using all the baits that you And Rob talk about. I’m willing to pay for a good lesson thanks camo guy.

I use the zoom horny toad as a trailer on the original chatterbait…works well for me but I still need to try the z-man too. I cut about half inch off the head so the hook comes through right at the end of the chunk body. Its thick body really keeps it in place and I can catch 10-20 fish on a single bait before it’s too torn up.

That horny toad is a good one. But lotta guys sleep on the Stanley ribbit toad although awhile back they change the rubber a little they ust to be super soft. Thanks Steve

I fished the toad yesterday and got 1 fish on it at low tide out deep off the weed line. I’m looking forward to playing with it some more.

Here's a confession. The last few days have been a tough toad bite. I have stayed on them for way to long. The fish have not been reacting to moving baits. It's all been dead stick senko. Guess what? Tomorrow, I will have a toad on and work it to the ground. I know what they can do. Good luck.

Check out the Savage Gear Toadrunners. They're the elastomer material like Zman. They are amazing and I only used 1 all of last year lol. Probably 20-30 fish on it.

Lol! Definitely appreciate you and your videos. I've found them to be very informing and have shared them with my fishing buddies. You probably don't remember me but we met at the last sportsmans expo in Sacramento. I asked you for some advice on how to fish the sneaky Pete bait and you introduced me to the G Ratt guy. Still haven't caught one yet with that lure but I'm still trying. Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to talk fish for a moment. Hi Scott. Sorry I did not talk about how to fish the toad. I will do a video on toad technique. It will be a short one with some nice tricks that I know will help catch fish. Comming soon.
