Part 1 shows the burnt wire and where it is supposed to connect. I describe how the lever being pushed down energizes the toaster so the heating element will draw current and the electromagnet will hold the lever down using a top and bottom latch. The dial on the front of the toaster is basically a timer, that will release the lever by stopping current to the electromagnet after a specific time determined by where the dial is set. The spring on the lever will pull the lever up thus opening the circuit, like turning a light switch off, so no current flows to the heating element and the electromagnet.
Part 2: I show you the old black connector that comes off of the male copper tab where the burnt wire was once attached. I show you the new connector I crimped onto the wire and how I used heat shrink to cover the new connector. I then slid the white protective sleeve down over the new connector and connected it to the male part on the white plastic piece.
I then show you how it does make toast again and describe how I think that wire ended up being burnt.
