Imagine your game getting so popular and ambitious that the literal team behind the game engine you use for your game make an update for it specifically for you
Or at very least, are keeping him & his game in mind, striving to make sure that their update will help rather than hinder his project. Either way, it definitely shows appreciation for the attention Toby's games have gotten the engine. No doubt many new game devs went ahead & got Game or RPG Maker after seeing that even in the modern day, amazing & commercially successful creations could still be made on them. And if it's also just plain cuz they're truly rooting for those who use their engines & want them to succeed, well that's awesome. 😄 (Plus, wasn't there an update before that ended up causing bugs or making things a bit harder for Toby in the past? Maybe they felt bad [or got some bad press] for that, so this time they all mutually wanted to really make sure that things would go smoothly, & so decided to make it more of a team effort? Maybe I'm misremembering.)
If that's the case deltarune speedruning is going to get WILD bro They might have to make a specific section for doing only one chapter at a time lol@@svgaming263
true ending by having at least two save files, one weird one pacifist/normal, do everything for either route blah blah blah. then you play as both Kris's for a fight to be remembered...
@@thefunny9Since she's a laptop, & has the Windows XP "Bliss" wallpaper, I'm pretty confident she would indeed have the stats to run Doom. 👍 And I'll bet that just for fun, in her Darkner form, she can play "Bad Apple" in black & red on her visor. 😎
TOBY IS COOKING SOMETHING MORE THAN DEBUG TESTING I CAN SMELL IT IMAGINE A SECRET ENDING WHERE YOU FINISH ALL 7 CHAPTERS IN 7 DIFFERENT TABS AT THE SAME TIME AAAAAHHHHH
This could also probably easen mod making, because if every chapter can basically be put into the deltarune folder, a mod maker could simply add a mod of theirs into there-allowing you to be able to select between the normal chapters and specific modded ones
Oh shit imagine needing a Party made up of 3 Krises from 3 Different Timelines at once in order to beat Chapter 7’s Final boss, that’d be a Mindfuck and a half
as a GM user, this does raise some questions to me, like about how efficient this truly might be. If there's, say, a bug in Kris' general movement or the battle system as a whole, Toby would have to fix that individually in _each_ chapter's data file, wouldn't he?
This would be easy to do if they wanted, it would just check the Undertale save file directory. This can be done right now on the current engine, some mods even already do it.
I wonder if this will have anything to do with the multiple save files. We know that there are technically differences between the save files slots by what shows up in Asriel's drawer in chapter 2. Maybe you need to use all save files in order to truly beat the game, and this update would make that possible/easier.
If each chapter could have separate data, that means it'd be the easiest way to go to any chapter with whatever route you want since you could just replace each save file with existing ones. Epic! :D
You know what though? Undertale messing with the manual files only worked on Windows, it didn't work on the Switch or some other platforms due to whatever storage/security sandboxing crap. This sounds like he could be sneaky and generate dynamic assets based on what the player does, compiled into a binary format that is harder for players to mess with. Eg: There is a nonzero chance we get meta stuff again
We've already gotten weird and deliberate changes between save files (minuscule things that don't matter, but the fact they exist suggests that save file choice matters in some way), this will be an even extra level of potential tom foolery toby can do.
The manual was scrapped because it broke when Toby updated from GameMaker 8, not because it wouldn’t work on console (which was likely not considered at the time) This feature is unlikely to be used for anything other than making it easier to sell the paid chapters as DLC
I love that it’s a feature beneficial to everyone developing with it, but made specifically for a major figure. That’s always a good thing (especially because as far as I can see, there’s no downside)
did you just have a surplus of ball game footage left over from that one video and thats why you used it for this because that would be incredibly funny
thank you for not making it a loop i hate it when people do that i'm not gonna watch the same minute long video multiple times if i can help it you dont need to add an "and thats why..." at the end
Everyone talking about how they makin an update just for deltarune but I'm more interested that we have a new genre of low attention span background (ball game)
It is quite interesting for the modding community as well, as if we are to mod smth chapter specific we would not need to search the entire game for said thing (among others benefits this brings) Cool stuff overall
Imagine you have to access these files to go back in orevious chapters and do things differently to access a secret boss. For examplle, you have to do a chapter 3 weird route and chapter 2 normal route, even if the only way to get the chapter 3 weird route is to complete the chapter 2 weird route. Perhaps the boss could be some multiversal admin that has recognized this data inconsistency and will descend to fight you
the chapter 2 demo is plagued with a bunch of renamed assets, and if you use the map changer cheat you can actually access some rooms in chapter 1 from chapter 2 (usually only the ones that don't crash from objects or such). if you're wondering, the rooms are around 200-400 if i remember correctly.
This would be nice if it was like bank switching on old consoles so that like all the battle code and overworld code is in one file and all the Chapter stuff is in their own files so that way we don’t get changes not properly being made to all applicable Chapters
I think we need to be clear about the phrasing here- Toby said he was WAITING for Gamemaker to ADD whatever feature it is he is referring to, but the game_change function was already added to the engine nearly a near ago now, as was that Gamemaker dev's post about it. If Toby had meant that he simply added a new feature to the game that he wanted help testing, he would have had no reason to say he was still waiting on YoYoGames to implement it into Gamemaker. I don't think that's what he was talking about, though I certainly don't doubt that he also implemented that now.
This would be so good for deltatraveler, considering that deltatraveler is supposed to have multiple gamemodes, which is very hard to program in a single file, but in an independent win file it would be much faster and consistent
He's asking us to test a feature? This is either him being truthful and genuinely wants us to test or we're gonna get the files to test and its gonna be the entirety of chapter 3 💀
@@ZaCloud-Animations___she-heron steam, I'm pretty sure there's an option to revert back to a previous update of a game, though I don't know if it has to be enabled by devs or not for it to work.
it could also make the game more easy to share on the internet. One of the main reason Undertale got so popular, is because you could easily share it with an usb stick. I'm probably still gonna save money to buy the game though.
In the same day he also confirmed woody theory with his "my creative process" video at 0:02 timestamp, by revealing he is staggering winds in some way, and that Sheriff Andy G is a real character, since Staggering winds made the new video, also, in the new staggering winds video, it may be foreshadowing "Kris is dess" theory with those base64 numbers... Wait... 64... 6... And 4... CHAPTER 6 AND 4 ARE CONNECTED CONFIRMED?!!
