Toby Keith wrote this song in honor of both his dad and the 9/11 attack cause his dad died in March 2001 so he wrote it to express how he thought his dad would've felt about the 9/11 attacks. At first, Toby refused to record the song and only sang it live at his concerts for military personnel. The reaction, however, was so strong that the Commandant of the Marine Corps James L. Jones told Toby it was his duty as an American citizen to record the song. "It's your job as an entertainer to lift the morale of the troops," Jones said to Toby. "If you want to serve, that is what you can do." This is just one of his song he has a long list of great songs. Happy 4th to you both!
Toby Kieth was one who did not turn President Trump down to play at his inauguration. Toby said he was honored to play at the party. RIP Toby. You will be in our history books.
Toby Keith was a great man. He loved this country and our troops. He did 11 USO tours to entertain our troops that were deployed. Helped build morale. He had over 30 number one hits. How Do You Like Me Now. Red Solo Cup. I Should Have Been A Cowboy. Me Too. Who's That Man. Trailerhood. As Good As I Once Was. I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again. Don't Let The Old Man In. He Ain't Worth Missing. We Were In Love. American Soldier.
Toby wrote this to perform for the troops and was encouraged to record and release it. I love the song. His song American Soldier is a beautiful tribute to soldiers and their families. 🇺🇸😁
Hi guys ! I don’t care who hates me bc I’m patriotic ( esp the Chicks who used to be Dixie Chicks ) I like this song and the troops deserve everything we can give them including a song. Great reaction ! Your wife is way cooler than you but you’re still ok 🇺🇸🇺🇸
You gained a new follower today. As a country music group called the Dixie Chicks, you can’t go across the pond and diss the president of the United States especially back then, now it’s probably a little different! They ruined their career. I was honored to see Toby Keith in concert shortly thereafter, and I saw the picture that you referenced. The whole venue went crazy when that picture came up on the big screen. I don’t know of any country music fans that ever listened to the Dixie Chicks after that. And it’s a damn shame, because they are really talented! I’ve learned that supporting those actors and musicians who want to make this a socialist country is not a good idea. RIP Toby, you are missed!
We threw away all Dixie chicks CDs we had when they lowered themselves and took Dixie off their names. Fell for the WOKE bullshit. They lost a lot of people when they did that.😎😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great reaction and commentary. This song demonstrates very well the feeling in the country after 9/11. Toby Keith was very supportive of our armed forces. You should check out his song American Soldier. RIP Toby Cheers!
As a heavy metal fan I still know who Toby Keith is/was, and I’ve never heard of the Dixie Chicks. I guess we know who came out on top of that controversy. 😂
Keith Urban is Australian.. Toby Keith.. Oklahoma.. big difference.. Big.. Huge.. I don't dislike Keith Urban..but he was never in the same level, to me, as Toby Keith. Big Dog Daddy RIP
The " Dixie Chicks " are just jealous because they caused all that controversy and their fans quit listening to them. The "Dixie Chicks " tried to revive their careers but they fell flat on their backsides
Happy birthday america. I love how your wife is so soft spoken and shy a lil bit. Ehe reminds me of my late mother, and I'm only 29. So thanks for this reaction ❤🇺🇸🦅
The Dixie Chicks started a fight they couldn't finish. Their careers suffered greatly for it. They used to be big names in country music but not any more.
Maybe he looked different because he lost about half his body weight bc of the illness. He’s 6’4” and weighed approximately 130 near the end. At his last performance he joked with other performers that they would never have thought he’s fit into skinny jeans..,.
I'm not a big fan of country music but there's nothing ignorant about this song. Especially when you consider the recent events that were the inspiration behind the song. Happy Independence Day Justin and Camilla.
People like Natalie Maines wanted Americans to take a conciliatory tone with our enemies after 9/11, and approach the conflict with tact and sublety. Maybe she would have been happier with a song that confessed all of our national sins and told the terrorists, "We understand your motivation. We deserved that."
Lead singer said the tone of the song was ignorant because it promotes/ glorifies war. Ppl get offended and dont even know wtf they're talking about lol. What a world we live in 🐑
At no point does this song express anything LIKE “we’re going to take you over just because we can.” It’s more a lesson in etiquette. It is immensely impolite to high jack 4 planes and fly them into densely inhabited buildings. We don’t like that.
