I've seen Toby in concert 5 times and he never once disappointed. He always gave everything on stage. He always closed his shows with American Soldier and Courtesy of the Red White and Blue. His final words on stage were always, "Never apologize for being patriotic. Fuck 'em." RIP Toby and thank you so much for the memories.
In the movie "Roadhouse" the band was behind chicken wire. I've heard a couple country singers talk about playing places like that in their early careers. R.I.P. Mr. Toby
Thank you! I knew I had watched a scene like this from a movie, but couldn't remember which one. Did they do this in the Blue Brothets, too? Anyway, you unlocked a memory for me.
We grew up poor and Black on the 1960's, all we had was a radio up unti 1968, we listened all my life Black radio stations and all day and nights Country stations, ❤ I love Country music, let's say most Country music, Toby Keith, ❤ Should Of Been A Cowboy ❤ I'm definitely a Toby Keith fan..❤ Toby has his wings, ❤ The body is gone, but the Soul is alive,❤Journey On Toby.....
I spent 28yrs in the Army, infantry. Not one person that EVER deployed that got to see Toby Keith give a USO show, EVER said they didn't love him! Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Soldiers, Coasties, everyone loved Toby. He let you know he loved America and the flag AND the troops. He was not too impressed with the government. He did 11 straight years of USO tours, over 200 shows. He will be missed for sure. One hell of an artist, a man, and an American. I salute him.
Thanks so much for paying respects to Toby Keith. This means so much to me. "As Good As I Once Was" is another TK hit I'd love to see you react to. Much love to you and the Mrs. :)
During 9/11/2001 I was a first responder and we always listened to Toby…. It’s sad he is gone but he did have some great songs. “my list” was always one of my fav’s from him.
Theres a dozen more songs you can review. As Good As I Once Was, Shouldve Been a Cowboy, How Do You Like Me Now, Love Me If You Can, Don't Let The Old Man In
The first time I ever saw Toby sing was at the beginning of his career and he was on the state fair circuit and the concert was sponsored by a local radio station. No stage, no band, just a tent and a chair for him at the front. He walked in with a boot splint on his foot; he'd broken his foot the day before playing football. He was very down to earth and open with the crowd, which probably only numbered 100 or so. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Check out "How Do You Like Me Now?"; very funny video!
Jamel I was in my latter 20s and fell out of love and touch with hip hop and pop so much I was feeling out of place and it was starting to get dark til I stumbled upon Toby's album and it brought my sanity back.
This was my old hang out the cowboy Palace in Chatsworth CA. My dad asked the same question do they really have that gate. I said no. My favorite line dance place I met my husband at the cowboy Palace. Great place
Country is so chill because where this music comes from is laid back. We are country folk who don't worry about global mess. We focus on our local folks and what really matters. Makes like easy. We take care of each other so nobody has burdens. We love our neighbors and God. We ain't rich or special but we love this country and our veterans. It's easy to explain if you know the rural part of this complicated country.
Thank You Again Jamal for honoring this wonderful man. I’m seeing so many channel creators doing the same thing that you’re doing, and that says so much about the one and only Toby Keith. I was never blessed to see him live. But in my heart, I feel as if I lost a friend. I’ve felt this way when John Ritter passed and of course Robin Williams. I don’t know why, I guess I’m weird. But seeing how so many people are honoring Toby by reacting to his music makes me happy for him and his family. RIP TOBY…Like you said in your song - I’m Crying For Me - “I’ll see you on the other side, superstar”
I saw Waylon Jennings, many, many years ago. Red Dog saloon, with a wire barrier. Didn’t know why until he started singing. Then it was “game on”, as apparently it was a “thing” to throw beer bottles @ the stage!! Go back & look @ this. It’s exactly what’s going on there. You can see that happening if you know to look for it. Thank you for your very nice reaction, & remembrance of why we all love, & will always listen to Toby Keith. 😊
I lost my husband in 2009.. Went with my best friend 10 months later to our local hometown bar to watch a playoff football game for my Raven's.. I met my man that night.. 14 yrs ago.. My Raven's lost that night but I won.. Truly just wanted to go and hang out with friends.. didn't expect to meet my life partner.. Still waiting for the ring.. lol. but not truly worried about it.. I know we will be together forever.. The best man ever.. I'm blessed. And this song is .. I love this Bar.. yes
Toby was and always will be the one true Cowboy. He had a swagger and confidence that few men possess. I hope more men will see him as the amazing role model he was and always will be. R.I.P Toby. We are going to miss you greatly.
This man will have music that young people will "discover" for generations to come! Think Hank Williams, holy cow think Hank Williams Jr! This guy is that level, Americans will remember him for generations, he's one of us, the working people. He got it, as big as he was,he was patriotic and for the people!
Dude I love how you sang along! Its just so good, you can't help it... right?! This was the first song I ever heard by Toby way back in the day. Great story teller, singer, entertainer and sense of humor.
Please play Crying for Me, Toby wrote this song for his good friend who passed away Wayman Tisdale, he was a basketball ball player and played base guitar, he wanted to play it at his funeral but he couldn't do it, trust me you will like it
I was the DD for a great-uncle who frequented a juke joint in Heard County Ga., in the late 70's/early 80's. Yes, the band performed behind chicken wire to catch whatever got thrown.
The ole chicken wire I’ve been in a few honky tonks where I’ve seen those protecting the band Grew up a huge fan of Toby’s it’s still so sad and heartbreaking knowing he’s not here anymore and it’s been almost a week Love ya TK Rest In peace
All the live shows I was lucky enough to see during my time in the Army and I never got to see Toby. Which is wild considering how many shows he did for the troops. And now I'll never even get to see one of his shows ever. Damn. I've seen Chevelle, I've seen Fluffy, Jeff Dunham, Flyleaf, and so many more. But I never got to see Toby Keith.
this is the greatest you'll love it. I've seen this a hundred times it never gets old, yes back in the day bars like these bands would play in them and have this gate up to protect them from the locals. because as you can see they were just everyday people from all kinds of life. the bands would play all over town to get noticed to then get good like Toby. this is one of his concerts. too funny. and his mason jar of booze. I've been to bars like this and fun, sawdust on the floor dancing singing safe fun.
His smile is/was contagious! I bet he was a charming man. Seems genuine too. Bless his wife & children, I hope they find peace in all the love Toby has been getting.
You need to react to "Weed With Willie" by Toby... A great Bar song. Thanks for the tribute to a great artist. Saw him 4 time since mid 90s...Great entertainer R.I.P.
Toby Keith had so many great songs so whether you need to hear something heartfelt, patriotic, romantic, sad, melancholy, inspiring, thoughtful, or just plain funny, yeah especially funny, then Toby’s got what you need. My favorite songs by Toby Keith are Who’s That Man; Wish I Didn’t Know Now; You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like That; He Ain’t Worth Missing; We Were In Love; Upstairs Downtown; Don't Let the Old Man In; How Do You Like Me Now; Made in America; I Wanna Talk About Me; American Soldier; Trailerhood; A Little Too Late; A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action; and of course Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. RIP Toby, we miss you!
In a lot of the rowdier honky-tonks, the band performs in a screened cage to protect them from beer bottles, chairs and other objects thrown at the stage and so they can play on uninjured when a fight breaks out. It just goes with the territory.
check out his entire catalog. also watch Who's Your Daddy, Red Solo Cup, and Shitty Golfer. Icon tremendous song writer. his music will live forever! RIP Toby you will be missed!!!!!
..."Class of 76"...That's to keep the sangers from getting hit with beer bottles...Toby said he got his inspiration to be a country singer from hanging out in his Grandma's bar in Oklahoma when he was young watching and talking with the sangers...
Growing up in the ‘60’s my mom & dad had a couple “favorite” bars they’d go to on the weekends - this song would’ve been a big hit back then for all of them!!! 🎉👍🍺🍻
I work at Texas Roadhouse and they play his hits and I started listening to him the last two months I’ve been there for 4 months l😂 rest easy you and jimmy !
There are a bunch of cool artists that hail from Oklahoma. Toby was the top dog for years . If i had to choose my favorite video of his is '' Im not as good as i once was'' . It makes me laugh every time . The world is a little darker without Toby Keith in it. But God has him singing in heaven. Have fun up there Tobey , You have a whole new audience now.
I know you love this kind of stuff so I've been wanting to send this to you for years. It's Lonnie Mack singing a song he wrote and recorded back in the early 60's. He's famous as the Father of Modern Blues/Rock Guitar Playing but to those of us who saw him perform in Cincinnati were absolutely blown away by his voice. Lonnie is white but he was taught to play by a black minister and played in the band at the all black church as a kid. He had an integrated band all the way back to the late 50's. He was the only white artist in those days that could play to an integrated audience. He even got air-play for his instrumental records on black radio but the wouldn't play him singing. The joke was that he was set up to do an interview they saw he was white and were shocked since all they knew about him was his guitar playing. Here's Bootsie telling about his experience growing up in Cincinnati and listening to Lonnie Mack. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-US1658nBJow.html Here's Lonnie singing and song he wrote called "Why." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GJgoZV0qiLE.html
I love the fact you are listening to and watching his videos! I loved this man and his music since the 90s to the point my ex-husband was (and I'm sure is still) jealous of him. Was afraid I would meet him and run away with him even though TK was happily married with kids for many years. Toby Keith was a genius songwriter and so funny! I heard him one morning on Bob and Tom at 7am singing, joking, and playing his "Bus Songs" on live radio and he is as good live as he is recorded! He was just awesome! I am shook that he has passed. Breaks my heart for his family and every fan of his. I was a TK Warrior for many years. Thank you for your content! You made my day!
