I'm hispanic, of Mexican descent but was born here, as was my parents and not a single ounce of white, but this song still speaks to me. I always buy American and will forever appreciate this great nation and the men/women who fought so hard so that we could be free. Thank you soo much. I love this country. I'm a proud American. We are better than this. We have to be better than this. I am tired of seeing it destroyed by those who don't love the rights they were born with. I'm sad. When I was In middle school, I gave major credit to Toby Keith for inspiring the American patriotism in me. I listened to his music on a weekly/daily basis for years… and after hearing the news today, I came back to this song. As I listened, I felt young again and I remembered how I used to feel about this country - proud. Truly and naturally proud, and not faking it. Hopefully one day if we can give our country the attention it truly deserves (instead of constantly funding foreign wars and fixing other countries with OUR money), we can all feel proud to be Americans again on a daily basis.

This song still brings me chills. I served in the Marine Corps with three deployments to Iraq. And now I’m the Idaho Army national guard and about to go on number 4. This song always makes me proud that I am an American.

I tell you the morning I heard of Toby passing there was a lump in my throat all day that had me fighting tears throughout until my day ended and singing this in the car on the way home those tears came out and I balled on the side of the road with this blasting..thank you Toby for my childhood memories of you playing on my stereo and for giveing me extra pride in being an American and those of us who have to stay behind for now will carry your memory with us for the rest of our lives
