Another clue that W D Gaster is in Deltarune is that when speaking Wingdings, he speaks in uppercase, the voice at the start of the game has normal font, but still speaks in uppercase, and the soul's answers are written in uppercase, the 4 options, the name of the vessel(character) and name of the creator(soul).

Does anybody find it a bit weird that Gaster fell into the core/'his own creation' and disappeared one day, whereas Sans and Papyrus 'just appeared one day' out of nowhere. I think Gaster and Sans and/or Papyrus are definitely connected in someway. This is too much of a coincidence. Noone in the two games seems to tell us WHEN these events happened. Did Sans and Papyrus appear when Gaster was around? Then what is the explanation for them?

The real experiment on human souls Is seeing if we even survive to see chapters 3/4/5.

Considering that we never really physically meet Gaster, and that anything related to him seems to break the fourth wall enough to give Deadpool a run for his money, it could be argued that your theory is correct

I appreciate the shoutout! I've been seeing your videos popping up, and have had to mostly steer clear, because I don't want to unintentionally ape any of your theories! But it was recommended to me to check this one out specifically. Now I see why xD I will warn anyone who comes looking. "Pieces of Gaster" is my series on all things *specifically* tied to Gaster. The "Gaster Eggs" series is a bit of an in-joke title, based on the insane amount of details Toby crams into these games. But to actually help any fans looking to get a foot in the Gaster door, "Pieces of Gaster" is gonna be your best bet. Maybe I ought to retitle the Gaster Eggs videos to avoid further confusion... Gaster's Experiment at Entry 17 was probably a Dark Fountain. Maybe the Prime Dark Fountain of Ralsei. Also Ralsei mentions he received the Prophecy from "time and space".

if it's a survey, an experiment, then perhaps gaster did let others (besides us) know. taking into account the way the secret bosses speak, in theory, a "game" could indeed be a "synonym" for a survey or experiment. perhaps jevil, spamton, and those who we have not yet met are connected more closely to this experiment than originally thought.

Only time can tell, but gaster is such a mystery so I would keep an open mind, it’s possible, but his motivation and personality is something that would be vital to know whether he’s friend or foe, and I’ve never seen anyone really dwell on it

This is the first time I’ve seen this type of theory on the widescale “the entire irl world” rather than just “oh the player” in general. I wonder if the way things played out would be different based on if Snowgrave wasn’t discovered immediately or such, or how things like Twitter reception went…

Gaster has been a mysterious character for 6 years since Undertale came out, only can be found by mere luck or by messing with the code. We barely know anything about him and it feels like Deltarune might be the game that we finally meet him face to face. The Survey Program, the Twitter messages, the soul, the strange bunker, the weird garbage noise, the man and the eggs, the secret bosses and the shadow crystals. All of this might be connected to him and might tie up with the plot on Deltarune. Not that Gaster is part of the plot exactly, but that he might be moving the strings so it goes exactly as how he wants.

Been digging the non-Zelda content dude! I've never actually played these games but I enjoy videos about them :D

About what happens at 10:30, Gaster isn't the one discarding our choices In the Japanese version, Gaster speaks in a mix of kanji and katakana (extremely odd and unnatural), while the "will now be discarded" is in kanji and hiragana (which is standard, though it's notable how Undertale was almost entirely in hiragana except for Chara's dialogue; Deltarune's JP dialogue is like Undertale's in the Light World but uses kanji normally in the Dark World). It pretty much confirms (much more clearly than in English) that the last bit is said by someone else, who seems to be interfering with Gaster's experiment.

I always interpreted the change in menus between the light and dark world as being connected to the whole 8-bit to 16-bit RPG theme. Like Undertale was 8-bit, and the dark world in Deltarune is 16-bit. So it represents these two classic eras of RPGs

Now this is an actual theory that makes a LOT of sense, and i mean A LOT. When you think about it, Kris has a mind of its own, that's why he could rip the soul out of him and still be alive, that soul isn't his. its YOUR soul, YOU control what Kris does but at the end of the day, he rips your soul out of his body so that he can have control again even tough its not for that long.

What if Gaster, from his vantage point of being shattered across time and space, knows about how a player had to control Frisk in order for a human child to finally survive the Underground and free everyone, so with his experiment Deltarune he intentionally connected a player to the world, attempted to create a Vessel for them until it was discarded, and now the player is inhabiting a (maybe soulless) human known as Kris?

I have a theory that the character we created at the start of chapter 1 is the Knight, and that Gaster is using it as a puppet to create the Fountains. -When we create the character, it has the same monochrome color as the Gaster Followers. -Another interesting bit that ties the Knight to Gaster is, oddly enough, eggs. When translated to Wing Dings, it's spelled 👈👆👆. This is how the Knight moves on the chess piece. And isn't it odd how we get eggs by a random stranger behind trees, in areas only accessible by repeatedly leaving and entering certain locations? -Gaster, from what we understand atm, can't directly interact with the physical world. He only seems to reach out to certain individuals and corrupts them. If the Dark Worlds act as experiments for Gaster, than he needs someone in the physical world to create the Fountains. And a being created by us would have the determination to create these Fountains. One last thing I should discuss is the theory that Kris is the Knight. There are a few problems with this. 1, whenever Kris removes their soul, they walk slower and appear to be hunchback. This could mean that Kris is significantly weaker without their soul. If Kris was the Knight, and he created the Fountain in the Library computer room, he would've had to walk quite a bit and still have enough strength to break into the library(also there should've been some evidence of a break in). Also if they wanted to create a Dark Fountain, why would they go all the way to the Library when they could've created it anywhere else, like their home like we see at the end of Chapter 2?

GARBAGE noise? Gaster is Trashy CONFIRMED???

SURVEY meaning experiment makes more sense when you consider this other detail: in the Deltarune files there are some elements that are named all caps and with synonyms, as an example room_ is called PLACE_, mus_ is called AUDIO_, obj_ is called DEVICE_, and so own. And this all caps elements just so happen to be related to gaster: the are we connected? room is called PLACE_CONTACT, the music that plays there is called AUDIO_ANOTHERHIM, the soul object is called DEVICE_CHOICE. This has to mean something... Perhaps deltarune was a game by itself about Kris, but then Gaster came in and added that stuff... Also in the original SURVEY_PROGRAM installer the license agreement was all caps and the images where just black. So I think that somehow Gaster exited out of the undertale world and somehow made a game with Toby?

If the SOUL we control was made by Gaster does that mean I can headcanon that the SOUL calls him 'dad' just because I think it would be funny

I've been thinking about Gaster all week and I'm so happy to see you made a theory about him. wow.. it's like you knew

A small theory: Kris will be the main boss at the end of chapter 7. They’ll be mad at you for stealing their body and will be strong enough (in the dark world, as that is why he’s been trying to open the fountains) and you will just be stuck as a soul. You won’t be able to physically do anything, and kris and you will both be slowly draining away throughout the fight, and somehow you will have to convince them to let you back in, and coexist somehow. After all, this may have something to do with the character creator screen at the start of chapter one, and how your name is the name on the save screens in the dark world instead of kris as it is in the inventory in the light world. This was kinda short, but I hope something like this happens sometime soon, as it would be cool.

I always thought that Gaster was just Toby Fox himself, because he made the game/s. And the Toby dog messing with us, is just one of the many Gasters followers we encounter. Here we go again, All going down this rabbit hole together. Haha! Only time will tell.

2:46 - 3:21 common misconception, but in the game alphys is the one who started the experiments on dt. It even states that she made blueprints, presumably for the dt extractor. For some reason people credit alphys' work to gaster simply because he's a more mysterious character.

Maybe at the end of Deltarune, we'll find out who Gaster is (or not, who knows. It Toby Fox we're talkin about here)

dude. determination means the ability for humans (us) to continue outside of the game universe which the monsters are constrained to... the fact that gaster already spans multiple games and has hints within the files means that he may just have figured out the secret of determination too.. determination exhibited in monsters (fictional characters) takes the form of args and meta media

I've had a similar theory for a long time When Gaster fell into the core and got trapped into the void. Then, he discovered a world beyond his own, the real world. Being the 3rd most powerful entity in the Undertale universe, after the player and Toby Fox, he asked Toby Fox himself for help. Then, they created the Deltarune universe. Gaster created the Dark World mechanic as a portal between the void and the deltarune universe. If you noticed, Deltarune has some of the things that the fandom wanted the most from Undertale, like Asriel alive and an actual NEO fight, and I'm sure that if I'm correct other things are coming in the next chapters. Then Kris started to help Gaster opening the fountains, needed for Gaster to get out of the void. The player, though, started to seal them and interrupt Gaster's plan and the whole purpose of the universe itself. So Gaster gave a piece of him (the dark crystals) to Jevil, Spamton and the secret bosses of the next chapters to be able to communcate with them, then he told them about the real world, the Undertale world and the Deltarune world, so that they could tell the player, since Gaster can't talk directly to the player. Jevil, Spamton and the other secret bosses went crazy, because they couldn't handle all that information at once. Then, Gaster is the knight, and if the final bosses are going down like King, Queen, then, taking about playing cards, with a bit of intuition you can see where this is going. This is going to the knight being the final boss of ch7 if you couldn't guess. The only flaw I see is that spamton line that goes like "Did you know that the knight..." "No, no, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" Implying that the knight doesn't want spamton to talk about him. Idk really but this is just a theory *A GAA-*

Gaster using irl humans to experiment with and Kris being collateral damage puts an interesting spin on Kris trying to regain control at the end of the chapters 🤔

Well considering it’s the knight who makes the dark fountains, I’m not really sure it could be Gaster, unless Gaster IS the knight or he has met the knight.

All of the glowshards in Deltarune could be pieces of Gaster. Gaster is still expirimenting with connecting our worlds, and by corrupting certain characters in-game with his own soul (Spamton and Jevil,) not only does he reveal the nature of the world to them, but he makes them wildcards, a possible way to connect with certain irl players who find the pieces and pursue the connections, collecting the glowshards, breaking the wall between worlds. By the end, we may put the shards together and find a way to speak to him.

You know this makes me think actually. Jevil and Seam speak about the end, futility, and all that. We think they're talking about the fact this is a game, what if that was in the greater meta of this being an experiment? That "the end" may actually just mean the end of this grand experiment Gaster is doing, and not the roaring or anything like that

Think about this: People think Gaster is Papyrus/sans dad, sans’s door is the exact same as the portals in deltarune. What if Gaster was working on the door portals, and then fell into the dark world which would explain his death/disappearance. And then gaster tried making more door portals in deltarune to try and return home, but ended up connecting them in the dark world

Didn't Toby say that there was only gonna be one ending? If that's the case, then because of the episodic nature of the game, he could totally make a single ending depending on the choices we make collectively. The ending could depend not on the decisions we make individually, but what we do as a whole - therefore, that would make it a sort of survey?

Here is my little Theory Do you remember The Ending of Undertale Genocide? We erase the world, and someone came out of no where and starts talking to us and want our soul, that person maybe is Gaster, he wanna use our Player soul for his next Experiments "Deltarune". And when you give him our soul he will duplicate our soul, one for Undertale so you can play more but this part of soul will lose its memory and the other one with full memories is for his experiments Deltarune, so that is why when we can see A Red Soul appears out of nowhere in Deltarune, and in Spamton NEO Fight the Red Soul turn to Yellow Soul. Why its turn to yellow, because is the phone in our Pocket, and Gaster in otherside the phone he use his Magic or and Soul to resonance with Gaster soul or Spamton soul, so the experiments won't goes wrong, that is why It is A "Important" Item. Or the Soul turn Yellow by it self, cus muscles reflex. (lol) If the "Red Soul" is We the Player, and what about the 6 human souls? Did the 6 other Players dies? Also what happened to Frisk's original soul? Did we take place Frisk's Soul, then take it for ourself?

Gaster is a scientist he cares only for his experiments, scientists don't really care about morality they care about the consequences and the ending result of the experiments, so yeah Gaster is a chaotic neutral evil character, one that can't be trusted and that is experimenting with reality itself for something, something darker yet darker.

in undertale chara says that her determination was not only ours. but she does not speak frisk, but breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to us that , this soul that we know from the beginning did not belong to the Frisks, nor to the chara, and the kris only to us. depending on what character the soul is in, we control these characters as by means of sttrings

Spamtons garbage noises phone call doesn't prove that gaster was the one on the other end instead it shows that the person on the other end left the Dark World because the garbage noises only plays when calling someone in light world from the dark World ( it probably works the other way round as well)

What if Toby himself is Gaster?

This theory is frighteningly meta, but at the same time that's exactly why it works.

all these gaster connections to deltarune definitely mean there is a dark force or even multiple connected to the dark world... which makes sense. but it deson't have to be gaster, after all the lack of being able to call people just means its a separate real dimension so you wouldn't have reception(duh). obviously the more dark fountains open the more it effects the "real world" in deltarune which explains why the internet went down. this force is clearly meta just like the forces that affected the player in undertale ( like chara, us, and everything that interacted with our inventory/fight menu/etc) throughout the game. calling gaster the source of all this is a mistake I mean you could say that flowey, sans, and asgore had a greater influence over the player then gaster.... SO who is OUR flowey in this game hmm? is it Ralsei? December? Kris themselves? A darkened we have yet to meet or see perhaps the reason for decembers demise? whoever it is the next chapter will provide even more evidence and even more suspects toward the identity of the knight.

I don’t think that the Soul is are soul, here’s why.. 1. Firstly in Undertale it is stated throughout the game that human souls are different from monster souls, by not just power but by appearance. Humans have a variety of souls, Cyan, (patience) Orange, (bravery) Blue (integrity) Purple (perseverance) Green (kindness) and also Yellow (Justice) and the game only displays red souls for every player that has played. Despite humans being known to have souls with different traits and colors. So I believe that the soul we control isn’t our soul but rather Kris’s soul. Which leads me to my second argument; 2. Kris when they have there moments in which they rip out there own soul and then start walking around.. I believe that when a human in the Undertale/Deltarune universes if they take out there own soul they will die, because when Kris takes out there own soul they walk around weakly and creepily like there losing there own energy just to get away from us, the people manipulating there movements and things they say. But Kris slashes the car tires and creates a dark world in order to make sure that they can manage to get help from Susie and Toriel. Also in all of the games so far, Chara and also Frisk both have red souls. So I think that Kris is someone who also has a red Soul. We get to manipulate Frisk into doing whatever with there Soul, and reset the timeline over and over and see them kill and Spare every monster they see. So maybe Kris is the same. Except since they are a teenager they could be struggling with the thing controlling them. While Frisk is just a child who doesn’t know what there will is.

Every part of him I did is based on something. By the way, the "Gaster" sprite you've been showing is NOT actually "Gaster", but simply a sprite known as "Mystery Man". It cannot be confirmed or denied that mystery man is Gaster, but the two are NOT interchangeable and are NOT to be assumed as one and then then then then the same. It's like UFO's, people think that UFO means alien space ship, IT DOESN'T. UFO mean unidentified flying objects. You could be lying in the grass next to a four story building and then be all wet with rainwater, and then if I threw a pizza out the window of the building and since there was rainwater in your eyes, you wouldn't be able to tell it was a pizza. So, that pizza would be a UFO because it was flying and you could not identify it.

Seam is pronounced Shawm. He tells you that when you first meet him. Bandit: "I prefer to say Char-ah not Car-ah because Car-Ah sounds dumb!" Me: "Erm... No Car-Ah sounds like a real life normal name... Char-ah sounds dumb! Also I'm like 90% sure that the name Chara was decided on because it's short for Character. ...So Care-Ah makes a lot more sense to me than any of the other possibilities.

I have a feeling that Kris is interfering, or is part of a plan to interfere, with Gaster’s experiment. Gaster had us build a character for ourselves earlier on in the game. He had us customize it. He was planning on using that character as a liaison for us. But then that lowercase voice comes in and discards our creation. That voice put us in the shoes of Kris. Kris isn’t some unknown entity like our avatar or Frisk. Kris has a defined place in this world. Kris is a human who was adopted into the Dreemurr family. Kris has been living his life in this world up until this point. His seemingly very troubled life. I also have a feeling that Snowgrave is probably the “canon” Route so to speak. We know from all the times that we are not in control of Kris that he is a few horns short of a goat, if you catch my drift. His eyes glow red. He slams our SOUL into a cage. He brandishes knives. He slashes police cars’ tires. He opens Dark World portals in his living room. He escapes out the bathroom window. He doesn’t act like some peace-loving pacifist who would never hurt anybody. If he was given the chance to enter a world without consequences for him personally, such as the Dark World, fo you really think he would SPARE anybody? If given the chance to act out his violent fantasies, do you really think he wouldn’t? Kris was never intended to be part of Gaster’s project. He is an anomaly. He has played some role in it so far, yes-but he has not done as he was supposed to. I believe Kris is the villain of Deltarune.

I replayed my Good file too collect anything I missed in my first playthrough found "The man" waving from one of the grey cars in the traffic jam part secrets are everywhere and so is Gaster

Tbh, the detail about the purpose of the survey program seems very interesting. Maybe Toby just gathers responses from the fans and implements some in the next chapter (like the possibility of a Genocide route)

Honestly I don't think it's out of Toby's league to do something wild like this as he's kind of a madlad.

In my own opinion, I think that Deltarune's light world is a parallel universe to Undertale's and the dark world is a sort of bridge attempt caused as a result of Gaster's attempts to find a soul and use it to break out of the underworld... or maybe he wanted to create a bridge through the dark world to travel through as a loophole through the barrier or perhaps he wanted to use the dark world to get to a parallel world that he could populate.

Theory: Gaster got split apart half in undertale and the other half made deltarune leaving that half In deltarune in that mountain or in kris’s phone

NOTE: Gaster wanted us to create an avatar and play as it. It's a second character that threw it in the trash(different scritp number,different font and style of writing,sudden turnaround). So it's very possible Gaster is unhappy with the disruption of his experiment. Maybe we can try to guess Gaster desire by listing the sides and what they want: *GASTER TEAM* -GASTER appreciate the presence of the soul/player and seem to like to drive characters insane(so he may indeed be interested in psychology). The soul/player seem to want to close the fountains. -RALSEI,being absolutely loyal to the Soul/Player instead of Kris,having a strange backstory and being made of darkness, seem like a good candidate as Gaster minion. Especially considering his fontain,unlike the others,has not been made by the knight, so it may Gaster's fountain who know. -THE MAN BEHIND THE TREE. Not necessarily Gaster. After all,we know for a fact a very important (if not the main) Gaster fragment is in our world. Maybe the man is just a lesser fragment,or just strongly linked to Gaster. Regardless, he seem on the side of the soul/player. *THE KNIGHT TEAM* -THE KNIGHT want to keep the fountain open to make the Roaring happen. -THE ANGEL. Whoever that is, the Angel's Heaven will be created by the Roaring. Noelle seem a good candidate as the Angel,being called that way repeatedly, having a character design and personnality befitting of the name, possessing a "creepy" faceless doll representing an angel, and having the capacity to become an "Angel of Death" like in Undertale. Finally, her psyche is sufficiently fragile and the state of her dad,along with her suspicion about Kris,may lead her in a unprevisible direction. *UNKNOWN* -POSSESSED KRIS.If Kris is possessed by the someone when he create the fountains(which I firmly believe since he never call for help),it seem likely he is either controlled by the knight or one of his allies, thought why he doesn't just kill Kris or prevent him to close the fountain is unknown.Maybe whoever control Kris is on a third side. -KRIS HIMSELF.On one side, Kris seem very unhappy with his situation after the Spamton fight. On the other, Ralsei talked with him several time WITHOUT the player being present. If we add to that his depression, it is not entirely impossible that Kris accepted the soul as an escape from his life and responsabilities.We know nothing of Kris right now,it would be a good plot twist. Or maybe Ralsei was just having a one-sided conversation trying to convince him to accept his fate. In that case,he is with Susie and whatever normal friend he have left. -EVERYMAN.Who the hell know. My theory is that The experiment Gaster fell into was the dark world but it was connected to the light world of Deltarune. That means it's connected Undertale > Dark World > Deltarune Light World, and that means both games are connected.

A personal interpretatio nof mine is that when Gaster was torn thorugh time and space he wasnt jsut erased form existance in a way, je ascended to a "higher plane" that is Our plane the "real world" Gaster.. or, at ñeast, Gaster's conciousness, has ascended into our reality and is now able to communicate with us directly, while semeingly able to do his own thing If you wanna go REALLY meta, Deltarune IS a game, but, within the "universe of undertale", Gaster is the "developer" of the game I perosnslly dont believe it but i think its very interestong food for thought still, but the whole situation of Gaster being able to directly talk to us feels almsot ARG-ish, and i cant wait for what the gentleman of the void has to offer us next chapter

I... Okay, I still love your video, but I can't help to feel... disappointed when I watch a video about Gaster (tho Misty Sparkles video was actually kinda good). And the reason is, to me there is only one person on RU-vid who covered the Gaster mystery thoroughly, and his name is Captain Hype. I highly recommend everyone to check his videos about Undertale and Deltarune, especially his Gaster trilogy, because I really think his work is the most interesting about it. It's in French, I can understand it's not easy for everyone, but he personally (almost) made English subtitles to his videos, so it shouldn't be a problem. And Merry Christmas everyone!

So, I'm pretty late to the party, but I have a quesion/idea that maybe you could look into. So, a character at some point mentions the Neo body that Spamton obtains was the remnants of a Lightner's dream and on Asriels's computer we see a file that references a video game boss with rainbow wings. Though calling Spamton Neo's wings rainbow might be a stretch, I'm kind of thinking that this is connected.

"I prefer to say Chara because Kara sounds dumb" all the people named Chara/Kara took that personally. Also we don't actually know what Gaster's original experiments are, no one says anything about it, we only know Gaster made the core, but the only confirmed determination experiment was Alphys', seeing how she even decided the name for it.

The whole "Deltarune is an experiment on humans" makes me feel slightly different about getting too freaked out to continue playing about an hour or two into the first chapter. How do humans react to a scenario where their choices are restricted that much? I have provided a data point, for sure.

I wonder who the narrator is. In Undertale, the narrator is proven to be Chara, so who is it in Deltarune? It's not Kris, unless Kris likes to talk in the third person.

imagine at the end of deltarune you somehow meet gaster and then its the ultimate final boss and it would also be really hard like sans in undertale

I was thinking about how the side bosses would fit in the main story and how they would affect the ending. Maybe their purpose it to extract determination from us, as they are very difficult to beat and we need to be determined enough to fight them over and over again
