Unfortunately clothes and some other items can't be copyrighted, but the graphics on them can be, like brand names. So often big corporations will rip off other designs that they can get away with. Shein is notorious for doing this.
@@clairedelunaah, but jewelry designs are copyright protected. But you unfortunately hit the nail on the head… it’s prohibitively expensive to contest a design theft esp against huge corporations. So you just have to take it as a compliment and move on.
Now the question is how can I purchase one of yours? I don’t want some remake of your beautiful original design, and I think it would be a slap in the face to purchase something so sad looking when it can look so beautiful made by hand.❤
That is so sad. Why rip off someone's original design when those places have all the money in the world to hire a designer. I am sorry this happened to you. It's really awful that anyone does that. Btw I love the crown!!! Do you still sell them?
Chinese manufacturing sites like Temu, Shein, Wish, and most Chinese Amazon sellers are all stolen intellectual property, all knockoffs. The costume historian Bernadette Banner on YT did a fantastic video comparing her mediaeval dress with the ripoff version. Chinese companies don't invent something new, they steal Western and Japanese intellectual property and copy at the lowest quality possible to ensure maximum profits. Even Chinese car brands are direct ripoffs - BYD is a copy of BMW, right down to the logo. We need to stop buying made in China wherever possible and support our national economies and local small manufacturers instead.
Im sorry to hear that. I hope that, if anything can be taken away from it, its that someone thought your work was good enough to steal. Doesn't make it right, but it is true - your work is really good!
I HAD one of those from one of the parks (probably Disney or Universal) with Purple stones in it! I LOVED that thing. I'm so sorry that they stole your design. But you made probably Thousands of teens and little girls SO happy.
Wish i could apprentice with you my grandfather used to be a die setter for jewelry all his life here in prov. RI. We used to have a huge jewelery district back from the 20s-early 80s
Same happened to my NTL-118 Laser. A China company copied my design and sold it for 1/20 the price after cutting me off from the supply of parts I was buying from a company down the street from them.
Wouldn't it be nice if law makers supported small independent artists? There continues to be no repercussions for theives of creative works. And people wonder why I don't have a half decent website. It's because really great photos of my work just opens me up to unscrupulous copycats, and it turns my stomach.
I believe I bought one! maybe 1996 or 97!? if you were w the bay area reinfair? large fl? your stuffs amazing! sucks they did that to you. can't compare!
Is there no way to sue these companies? You have data backing up your copyright. You posted it online years ago. I'm just curious why this couldn't be a lawsuit?
A another Disney with their trousers down!😂😂 And Universal too yeah another glasshouse situation! They are birds of pray! No respect for the once who actually are creating marvelous design and craft! ❤ Art ❤
Couldn't you prove you had designed it well before Disney and go after them in court for the rights to it and the fact they have been making and selling them?
Wow Todd, I knew you ages ago when you had a shop in Penninsula! Yeah i designed one for Quantum silver that they copied badly. That's what they do i guess.
