I hope this video explains the vast differences between drum clinics and masterclass from my perspective. I feel there's a confusion in concept and in language, so I hope this sheds some light on these two very different events.
You, Mr. Sucherman, are such an inspiration to me. I’m 73 years old and started playing after watching the Beatles first performance on the Ed Sullivan show back in 1964. I continued for around 3 years, until the guys I played with graduated high school to join the military. I still had one year of school, but I sold my Slingerland set and pretty much hung up my sticks. Then, our son got interested in playing the guitar. This was around 2001. He wanted to make some music, so I pieced together an old Star set the our local high school was getting rid of, and I was back at it until he graduated in 2003 and went away to college. I continued to putter a bit by myself or when he came home for vacations. Here’s where you come into my life. I was just realizing that RU-vid was on tv, and I could actually see drummers perform. I found a show that Styx did with a youth orchestra/choir. I was blown away by what you did on your set. The way you used each intumescent of your set was something so new to me, and your phenomenal playing was unbelievable. I got ahold of a Styx greatest hits cd and went to work trying to play like you. Well, you can imagine how that went. Anyway, that was around 2 years ago, and that cd is my go-to cd when I go into my basement to play, and Blue Collar man is my favorite. I can’t even count how many times I have watched you play that one on RU-vid. Thank you so much for being there for people like me and giving us that little push to keep drumming.
Nothing is free in this world and the knowledge one acquires by attending a masterclass from Todd is invaluable. His is the first masterclass I have formally ever been to and after 58 years and been formerly music school graduated, I learned things I never knew; that is how important they are and the fee? do yourself a favor and cover it; totally worth it. I do not work for Todd, he did not told me to do this or I have any gains of any kind by writing this but I went there to see if there was something I could learn after seen many great things and got out amazed and with new knowledge that many great teachers I was lucky to have never told me about. Do not procrastinate when it comes to learning and improving, just go and you will be happy you did!
Todd's masterclass is totally worth it. 90% teaching and 10% demonstration. Awesome insight on technique to make YOU a better musician. Thanks for the time in Nashville, Mr. Sucherman.
I didn’t even know there was a difference. That said, Mr. Sucherman, I saw Styx earlier this year when you guys were in Texas!!! And it was my first time too!!! You guys were awesome!!!!!! Your drums knocked me out!!!!!!!!!! It was a beautiful concert that I will never forget!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Hi Todd! I've been fortunate enough to see you in Calgary(twice), and am looking forward to next time, or ..Pt 2, as Brian tells me! I must say that the experience is worth every penny, and that you can't put a dollar amount on it! Thank you for continuing to present your Masterclasses, and thank-you for the inspiration!
I was blessed enough to be able to take your 2019 Drumeo Masterclass on Rock Drumming, I have been studying you ever since. I have also experienced my greatest amount of growth, as a player, that I haven't experienced in a long time. You continue to inspire me Todd and continue to be that drummer, that drummer right there in my own way, that I hope to be someday.....
Todd - a great explanation and reason I have attended two of your masterclasses and each time learned something that created more than just an incremental improvement - in fact, were it not for you, my friend, I would have succumbed to "drummers elbow" (since I don't play tennis) but am now pain-free due to the first-hand help on gripping. Keep doing what you are doing for fellow drummers - and as for price... you get what you pay for, people!!
Hey Todd, just watched your video on the difference mentioned above. You were talking about it last week as we were driving and must have gotten right to it when you got back home. Very good explanation and everyone should now know the difference! Rock on... Richie K
Grandpa Robert here. I can say that my speed, stamina, dynamics, clarity of individual notes, phrasing, and understanding of what my contribution to song should be have all been rapidly and steadily increasing after attending your master class a few months ago. Even my commitment to quality practice has improved and my band mates have all noticed. Great explanation of the difference between a potentially life changing class and a clinic, Todd.
I have no issue paying for a masterclass, to get time with a world renowned player on the instrument I love, it’s a no brainer. Please, please come to the Toronto area.
Very well explained Todd. I can imagine you run into some problems with fans/drummers thinking the latter in this situation. Lol Hope to see you in June in Westchester for your masterclass! 😎
Yes, they are posted on my Facebook and Instagram. Upcoming locations are Nashville, Philadelphia, Dallas --and more locations announced in the spring of '23.
I am Keyboard Player and Pianist but I would pay double pay for A MASTER CLASS just because you are Todd Sucherman ~ see you next month in Texas 🕊🤍🕯🎶💜🧚♀️
