In the Manga, Shoto began screaming after his mom pour scalding water over his face, and his mom immediately regretted what she did and tried too comfort him with her ice quirk.

Fun fact: Shoto's scar isn't from the boiling water on it's own. In the manga, his mom realizes what she has done and tries to fix the mess she's made. After she poured the boiling hot water, she attempts to calm the burn down with her ice powers, but you should never tame a burn with ice because it can cause frostbite and damage the skin. Shoto's scar isn't from boiling hot water, it's a frost scar from his mother's powers.

I don't think people notice how strong Shoto actually is in mental terms. He suffered so much as a child, he got pushed beyond his limits only to one day surpass a goddamn grown up. Not to mention, he even got rejected by his mother for "becoming too much like his father". Shoto may have had it easy when he was very little because Touya was the first one to get abused like this (which is so sad). And then after Touya ran away to start a rebellion (just a theory but there's a high chance for it to actually be true) Shoto was the next one to go. He experienced so much pain, both physically and mentally. In some cases people don't recover from such a childhood trauma. In real life we obviously don't have quirks or anything but it's still a very hard thing to overcome. I'm really happy that Shoto stayed strong and didn't let his father drive him to evil like he did with Touya. I'm also really glad that the Endeavor is trying to become a better father despite his countless mistakes in the past, I don't expect him to be forgiven that fast though. Sadly, I don't think many people notice how much Shoto has actually fought.

In a dark way, All Might kind of became a bad influence to some people like Endeavor Edit: When I say these words, I don’t mean that All Might made these people bad or influenced their decisions. I am saying that people have their different ideals on heroism and how that effects the people around him. Stain, Tomura, Endeavor are such people (Tomura is going into Manga Spoilers though).

Can we all take a moment to appreciate how good of a person All Might is, and that's probably a large part of the reason why Endeavor was never able to surpass him.

Todoroki is kind of based off of Zuko from The Last Airbender. They both hate (or dislike) their dads, they love their mothers but was separated at a young age (Shoto's mom in mental hospital and Zuko's mom was banished), they become friends with main protagonist and they both have scars (and dark backgrounds)

Did anyone realize that on 2:32 the boy, (I'm supposing is Toya) when he was going too kick the ball but froze up for a moment as soon as Endeavor was pulling Shoto across the balcony? I believe that might be part of the reason he missed the ball and fell onto the floor, because he was fearful for Shoto and knew that something bad was going to happen.. I'm honestly very convinced that Dabi was indeed a Todoroki, just like many others believe. And if it the case, I'm deeply afraid of what Dabi/Toya had to go through during the time he was born, to make him become a villian.

Imagine if Todoroki, Zuko, and Jin met. Todoroki: My dad abuses me and my mom and he brutally trains me to become a hero. Jin: My dad is a serial killer, I'm his accomplice and he tries to kill my girlfriend. Zuko: That's rough, guys.

I feel connected to young Todoroki. I never got burnt or my dad isn’t abusive but I had problems with my heart when I was 5 and I was not happy, I was sad all the time. But I still wanted to make it through

Enji was the leading cause of everything, he mentally and physically abused his wife like his children. He pushed her to her limits and made her snap. Shoto still loves his mother no matter what and you can’t deny that. Altough she poured the boiling water on him, Shoto forgave her. Why? Because at his young age he understood what his father was doing.

I think this anime/manga handled the topic of domestic violence well. Showing the trauma in not only Shouto but also the mother and portraying such emotion and overcoming a past of hard ship. Well done BNHA 👏

Unlike Dabi, Shoto managed to bear through all Endeavor forced/put him through. I’m surprised he didn’t became a bad guy.
