This is still my "go to" video after all this time. Something about the quick, spontaneous and natural manner of this video always gives me tingles! :) x
I've had a totally "gentlewhispering" weekend. Earl Grey tea, made these toffee crackles with white chocolate chips instead, and I made buckwheat beef patties with asparagus. Ah, the power of suggestion. Very very yummy. Have a lovely day, you've made mine great!
Lisa Carey, When you made it, was the cereal soft? It seems like it’s supposed to be crunchy in the video. I followed the recipe to the letter, but found the rice cereal took on the same texture as if it had gotten soggy after adding it to the toffee.
i made the chicken patties and they were delectable. i fell in love w myself! (maria mentions her husband ate the whole plate and confirmed their love lol)
Dear Maria, I have been watching your videos for almost 2 years now. I suffer from bipolar disorder and extremely high anxiety. It makes it very difficult just to get through the day, and especially to sleep, especially during difficult and dark times. There are nights where I cry and cry and feel very alone, but when I watch your videos, somehow you make me feel so much better, especially when you speak very caring and positively to us... it feels as though you are talking to me and you remind me I am worth being loved and so much more. Just hearing your voice works so much better than any pill or drug I could ever take, and I cannot thank you enough for it. You are a wonderful, amazing, beautiful woman, inside and out. I don't usually comment or anything, but I want to let you know you have touched my life and helped me in ways no one or nothing on this earth has. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and your beautiful smile. :-) Much love, A nervous loving fan :-)
Bombsaway132 Stay strong my friend, remember you are worth as much as anyone on this planet, I hope your situation improves, don't give up on yourself :)
Bombsaway - So sorry to hear about the issues you're dealing with but I feel I can really relate to you & everything you've said here! I'm not a big RU-vid commenter either but I hope that Maria does see your comment :) It's so incredibly tough & lonely dealing with anxiety & major sleep issues (along with every other issue that goes along with that!) but I feel like ASMR has been the biggest help for me too, especially Maria's videos.. She just feels so genuine... And any relief we get at all is just priceless! I don't wana sound corny but just know you're not alone *hugs*
For those who wish to make this themselves, but don't want to write down the recipe as she's talking (because really, this is for relaxing, right? lol.), here's the recipe: (you can correct any mistakes) 1-1/4 cup rice cereal (I'm not sure if this is right, but the page looked like it said 1-1/4 cup) 1 cup chocolate chips 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract 1/4 cup corn syrup 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/2 stick of butter (This will be over medium heat.) 1. Melt the butter in the pan. 2. After the butter is melted, add the brown sugar, and stir continuously until melted together. 3. Add the condensed milk and corn syrup, and mix well. Let it sit until everything is combined. (~4 minutes in the video) 4. Add salt and vanilla 5. Turn off the heat 6. Add the cereal, stir well 7. Transfer to the lined/greased pan 8. Sprinkle more chocolate chips over the top, and leave them to melt (~5 minutes), then spread the chocolate to cover the whole thing. 9. Let cool/harden for 3 hours, and then cut and serve! :) Thank you for such an amazing video, Maria! :D
So I try not to get lost in the dregs of RU-vid comments. I actually never noticed the thread on this till you pointed it out. I just got through reading it and I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time. Masha, graceful as always, steps in and tries to diffuse the situation and the next comment down from hers 😂😂😂😂😂 pure chaos. Lol thanks for the laugh. Ps Go Halos light it up!
I have made almost every Maria recipe. I love this recipe really nice. Brings back nice memories of things I got to do when my son was little with him like the decorated egg video she did and this toffee. 2024 gang coming in strong!
Please please please don’t get rid of this video!! This is my go to ASMR video! Whether I’m dealing with really bad anxiety or just need to listen to something soothing, this is my go to video! I absolutely love your videos!! Keep up the amazing work! You help me so much!
I just love watching your ASMR Maria. I suffer from chronic depression and I can honestly say that your voice, hand movements etc, relax me more than any therapy or medication. It is so great to watch you get so much joy and happiness out of the sounds that you share with us. Thank you and i look forward to watching many more of your videos xx
I know this video is four years old, but for those of you that want to try it: please don't use anything plastic to stir! Because of how hot the sugar gets it can melt the plastic and you'll never get those small pieces out of the mixture. (Trust me, I accidentally did this a couple of years ago when making fudge for christmas. Straining the bloody mixture will not work either xD ) Love the video though!! So relaxing and you seem so sweet :)
Dearest Maria, This is my first comment ever on youtube so just ignore it if it doesn't make sense. On behalf of those of us that didn't speak up during the live event Saturday, We want to express our appreciation for everything that you do. Your candor, creativity and grace give us spiritual refreshment. We deeply honor and respect your commitment not just to ASMR, but to spreading love and light to the world, without asking for anything in return. We are the ones sneak headphones into work, we have watched you grow. We have seen all your videos. We actually say "I love you too" to your videos...out loud. We support you 100% and we want you to know how much we charish you. You are a strong leader, and you are brilliant at it. Once again we love you. You give us something more that just tingles, you give us hope faith and love.
Some tips: Use foil pans. You can practically peel them off, then cut the pieces. I did chill mine for half hour before cutting AFTER allowing to completely cool on the counter. I made two pans of this. One exactly as this recipe, with Karo corn syrup. The other I sprinkled coarse kosher salt on top of the chocolate and some on the bottom where the toffee is sticky. Extra salt definitely added some flavor as was the preferred pan out of the two.
Artsy Animu Gal OMG I kno this is a later comment cuz this comment was posted 11 months ago but u took the thought rite outta my head and I laughed wen I read it. And I'm in my room in the dark giggling like in a scary movie Lmfao omg thank u I needed that
@@Larzaparz Another year on just read it for the first time - EPIC THREAD couldn't stop laughing at how deep it got over syrup. It was getting deep enough for the beginnings of a PhD! Brilliant :)
Every time I’ve had a bad day or am in a bad mood, I read the syrup war thread and I’m always crying laughing just getting to the middle of it, let alone the end. Omg! THE BEST! 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe Maria! I was looking for a simple sweet to make for my birthday and as I'm a student I currently do not have an oven so this is perfect!!! I will go buy the ingredients now, thank you so much! :3
I've watched this video a thousand times and today I actually made the toffee. I feel like I've accomplished something. Also it's absolutely delicious.
This might sound silly but I love your hand movements! You're so graceful and feminine and precise, but also confident in the way you move. I love your videos ❤️
My mom gave me some condensed milk and corn syrup and I immediately thought of this video. I looked up the original written recipe and my tingles were going crazy just from reading it and remembering how it sounds when you say "light corn syrup" lol. This is definitely my favorite video. I hope i can stay awake long enough to make these
this looks really good Maria! i think you may have put maple syrup in your toffee instead of corn syrup..but maybe it made it taste that much better! im not trying to make you feel bad just letting you know :) i will be trying this recipe out!
I just remembered these are a thing. I clicked on this video, wrote down what i needed, went to the store, got everything, came home, and made it. It is now cooling in my freezer so I can finally show people what ive been talking about for years
This is the only ASMR video I routinely come back to time and time again to help me sleep. I get tingles every time as soon as you say "crackles" at the beginning! Thank you Maria, one of my faves.
I love Maria's ASMR videos and the beginning of this one is one of my favorites. That being said, the syrup thing doesn't bug me, I get it, she's from another country and got confused. But seeing all of the organic ingredients and then the Pam cooking spray kills me, lol.
Another video so soon? Yes!!! It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Few things bring me joy nowadays, and your videos, Maria, are one of them! Thank you!!
Haha yes! itsJudysLife requested Maria do a cooking video a couple of days ago when they were having dinner. When Judy said she watches ASMR videos and her favorite was ***** I almost died!!! My two favorite you-tubers!! I love you guys!!!!
Yes! I'm finally under 301+ views! I would like to thank Maria, for uploading these amazing videos that I've been watching for 3 years, I would like to thank everyone reading this comment that get to cherish this beautiful moment with me. I would also like to thank RU-vid for being here so that way Maria has a source for her videos. I would also like to thank my parents for having me so that way I can watch this video and exist. I would also like to thank the friends that didn't laugh at me and thought I was weird for watching these videos. Ok.. so I'm going to watch this video and go to sleep. zzzzzzzz....
But were there less than 301 LIKES? Because there is a glitch for every RU-vid video at around 301 views: the view count "buffers" and it stops reflecting the correct viewer number, but the likes still go up. JK I know that doesn't matter. Great early comment speech.
I know it's been said already that she used pancake syrup instead of actual corn syrup but I love this version of the recipe better than the original because you more likely have some syrup in your pantry rather than the karo syrup and you also reuse the leftover syrup more than you would the karo. I really hesitate using recipes that require me to buy ingredients I'll never use again. Plus, if you don't buy karo brand, you are buying high fructose corn syrup and I also shy away from consuming HFCS. So I appreciate her honest mistake :D good to know the syrup is a tasty substitution I need to restock on syrup (hopefully maple works just as well). I'd reuse all these other ingredients so I'm definitely making these
Thanks for your videos. I suffer from PTSD from an abusive relationship and I find your videos extremely soothing and they help me sleep when I have PTSD nightmares. XO Keep it up.
i love the clattering sound of the chocolate chips; little dark jewels poured over a golden bed. thank you for the videos, Maria! they've proven so calming through a hard year. be well xo j
I've been watching this video pretty regularly since it came out, definitely like your style and tone throughout this dish. It only dawned on me today that I should try making this and my god is it delicious.
Lmfao I used whatever syrup I had at home turned out to be high fructose corn syrup at first thinking it wouldnt be such a big deal but man I couldn't even cut through the toffee x'D
I want to make this too!I found the same recipe on internet, but instead of using corn syrup they used honey!I will try it with the honey I think..is healthier and easier to have it at home! Will see...😊💕💖
Omgg😂😂 I know your comment is 3 years old but I used corn syrup too and couldn't cut the toffee😭😂😂 I thought I screwed it up but now I know i wasnt alone😂
Lordy yes. With every video I think " well sure the LAST one was great but does this one measure up?" It always does. Thank you so much for all the awesome content you put out. I don't know that I've gone to sleep in the past 2 years without hearing your voice, Maria. Its helped me through a lot of anxious nights where sleep wouldn't have been otherwise.
A tiny snack size box of raisins is 45 calories. How likely that a piece of that (which is roughly the same size as the box of raisins) would be 34 calories. Just sayin.
Yeah, I thought soo too. I just posted this above, but I'll repost it here: (Skip to the bottom to see the count on the pieces she cut) "Maria, those looked almost too good to be true, so I plugged all the ingredients into fitday, and it came up as almost 2,600 calories for the whole recipe... That sounded like a lot given how big those pieces looked, and that you said it was 34 calories per piece, so I looked up the original recipe. I found a picture of the same one you showed. That calorie count is for one and a half inch pieces assuming you use a 9-inch square pan (which is a fair bit larger than an 8-inch square pan, so you'd have much thinner pieces) and it's cut into four and a half ~dozen~ squares. That's 54 pieces. When I did the math it came up as 48 calories for each of the 54 pieces, instead of 34. I can't tell what size pan you used, so: If you used an 8-inch pan, making one and a half inch pieces, you'd get 42 pieces (42 and two thirds to be exact, but I rounded) and each one would be 60.7 calories. In a 6-inch pan, you would get 24 one and a half inch pieces, and each would be 108 calories. You cut the whole recipe into 12 pieces. Regardless of pan size, that would be 216 calories per piece."
Literally just got tingles when I saw your thumbnail in my newsfeed. You are an absolute genius. You have everything perfect from the photo to the layout of the video, the way you look - a classic beauty- and move so gracefully. How you usually start out soft spoken and kind then move along to very quiet and relaxing at the end. Almost drawn out, but not in a bad way. I always find myself being so incredibly relaxed and sleepy when the video comes to a close but at the same time never wanting it to end. Okay, enough with my love fest blabber. Time to watch! :D ♡♡
Melt those chocolate chips with some heavy cream in a saucepan, make a ganache then pour that over the top to cool and you won't believe what a difference it makes, steps it up a bit.
I made these with my mom today, and they're absolutely delicious. Thanks for another amazing video, Maria, and the recipe is great too! I'm definitely making these again
You make food sounds extra delicious! You are so enthusiastic about it ^.^ One of the first video of that I watched on your channel was the one were you present and taste traditional Russian food. I wouldn't be against more food video ^.^♥ Thank you for all your work!
Not sure I would try this because I am not a big fan of toffee, but I am a big fan of you. I could watch a video of you washing those dishes afterwards and still enjoy the vibes.
I made this today! It's SO nice! Very sweet, though, so I cut it small, like fudge. I took Maria's advice to chill it, but as a second tip to that: if you refrigerate it, it will cut more nicely with a warmed knife.
