This is a Historical system based off of Ninpo Sword skills. The main difference between regular Kenjutsu and Ninja Biken is the size of the blade which was cut to size but normally in the range of 20 to 24 inches in length. A normal sword is in the 30 plus inches range. This makes the blade not only shorter but lighter and faster to draw due to the size and weight. With this type of blade you have to be able to close the distance and get inside of the hands of your opponent. This video shows the first 9 patterns of the school.

Wow!!! Awesome video!!! Thanks for uploading!! I've just watched it and immediately subscribed!! I love how the techniques are done in real life speed and then explained in detail! It really explains a lot! I have got a copy of Dr. Hatsumi's Ninja biken DVD but it's in Japanese so there are things that l didn't understand but l understand them now, after watching this video! Please make more full length Ninja sword videos. This one was very well done and is clear and a person who understands Taijutsu body movent would understand this video! It is marvelously done!! Please also demonstrate Ninja techniques with stealth and stealth combat using the sword and also make videos of sageo nanajutsu. The proper Ninja sword methods are not available on RU-vid. Only a few here and there, I would love to see .more of this because your techniques are done in real life speed and are real effective combat techniques of the Ninja sword! Sadly most Bujinkan videos on RU-vid are just Taijutsu and they are not done in real life speed. Most of them look weak and sloppy! They don't demonstrate the Ninja's unwavered intent and immovable spirit in combat! That's why most sport martial artists think that Ninjutsu is "weak" or "won't work" in combat. If Ninjutsu is performed with speed and done with an aggressive, fearless Kiai shout, the Ninja's unwavered intent and immovable spirit in combat could, in a small sense, be demonstrated. The only videos that really demonstrate the techniques in real life speed and the Ninja's unwavered fighting spirit, which l have seen online, with real aggressive Kiai shouts are the Robert Bussey Ninjutsu videos and this one here! I am glad that I have found it and would love to see more! Very well done! Ninpo Ikkan!

This is for fun I like to pull the the sword out by the tsuba same side to doko then thrown in to the the target like a spear. The advantage is you can stab like a crane beek I think it's found in the tanto ?? But thank you for thank your skill and excellent shuriken work ❤❤❤❤❤

Do you have available the organized curriculum? I have collected many different sources but none have been found to be as complete and systemically organized, but the way all yours are organized is superb from muukyu to higher dan levels. Is that available (minus your own schools branding)... I would love a copy to study from. Thanks

Thank you for a very good reference video. Do you know of any good (and readily accessible) written references on the weapons parts of the Togakure Ryu? I like Carsten Kühn’s book on the subject, but it only (mostly) covers the taijutsu part.

Check out Sensei Richard von Donk in California. He has a few books translated from Japan. I know there is a complete Togakure Book.

I see in some other videos on the subject people are using saya the same length as the ninjato. Without criticizing them im curious about your thoughts on this. My understanding at this time is that one would give themselves away and defeat the purpose of a shortened sword if the saya were short as well. That said a shorter saya would make more sense for moving through brush or climbing and if one were already moving in stealth a short saya isnt the thing thats going to give you away.
@UnitedStatesNinpoAcademy
@UnitedStatesNinpoAcademy 4 года назад
My opinion is you should have a full length saya. Illusion of size, storage, blinding agent, surprise, speed just to name a few. In the woods or mission you tie the sword to your back. Togakure Ryu uses a full size saya. Plus if you were in disguise and had a obvious specialized weapon you would bring un wanted attention to yourself.

Modern Togakure-ryu and various historical claims are taught by Masaaki Hatsumi (Takamatsu's successor) and the Bujinkan organization. Criticism regarding the historical accuracy of the Bujinkan's claims of lineage have arisen from several issues of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten: The 1978 version of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten states that Takamatsu's Togakure-ryu "genealogy includes embellishments by referring to data and kuden about persons whose existence is based on written materials and traditions in order to appear older than it actually is."[38] The 1969 version of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten states that Takamatsu's Togakure-ryu "is a genealogy newly put together by Takamatsu Toshitsugu, who made use of (took advantage of) the popularity of written materials on ninjutsu after the Taishō era" and that "there are many points where it has added embellishments, it has made people whose real existence is based on written records older than is actually the case, and so it is a product of very considerable labor".[39] The 1963 version of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten states of Takamatsu's Togakure-ryu "this genealogy refers to various written records and oral transmissions and there are many points/places where embellishments have been added and people appearing in the genealogy are also made older than they actually are".[40]

@@UnitedStatesNinpoAcademy I was one of your students when you had the school on Aquahart road in Glen Burnie. Made a CD for you with training manual and Bansenshūkai. I also broke my leg when not paying attention to my footing blindfolded and grappling. That was completely my fault.

@@UnitedStatesNinpoAcademy I think I won that match and guy tapped out even after I heard the snap. I then calmly stood up bowed walked off the mat. Then checked and drove myself home. Wife was not happy or should I say ex. I have to say though you were the best teacher I ever had . I loved the field training and ambush exercises. Especially in the park at dark where I got to hide in a stream under an over hanging clump of roots waiting for someone to ambush.

None of those guys knows how to hold a sword properly. This isn’t a ninjutsu vs other styles thing. This is how to properly hold it to cut. Period. None of them hold it properly or cut well. If they took another class, even something like Iaido, they would quickly discover what they are doing wrong.
